Only a few casual games mentioned?

Give Cuboid or echochrome a try. It might be challenging for the mind, but really clears your head. Flower does too.

Bejeweled......when I'm not playing the Blitz one minute version on Facebook and competing for top score against them all. Including my boyfriend.....

Edit:

The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion

Nothings as calming as runninga through the feilds, collecting ingredients.

Or just heading to town, trading goods, making money
Damn you, you took my answer right out of my brain.

I was going to say Final Fantasy VIII, which I played for like 18 hours a day. I was so into it that the rest of the world just melted away, and I had no cares or worries at all. But that was only the first time I played it, so I don't know.

Until someone mentioned sailing, and then I remembered Chrono Cross. The soundtrack for that game is so soothing I downloaded it and listen to it at work, and it's my favorite 'wind down' game.

Manaan in KOTOR. The Selkath looked slimy but that's what I found so amazing about them and Ahto City was beautiful.

I like to consider valkyria chronicles the most peaceful war game of all time, as unskippable so nicely bloody pointed out.

I don't play a lot of relaxing games, but just climbing the city in inFAMOUS, doing a large jump in Motorstorm: Pacific rift, flying around in your favorite jet in your favorite area in free mode in H.A.W.X., or just going around liberty city in your favorite car in GTAIV always helps give room for breathing before all the action starts again.

Mirror's Edge's graphics and soundtrack were very relaxing

Chrono Cross also had a beautiful, mostly relxing soundtrack and great 'holiday' visuals

But the crown goes to the first level of Flower. It's amazing how Zen I feel afterwards

flow, echochrome...

almost any artsy game in the PSP, amazingly relaxing soundtracks

also, exploring the palace in SOT once i found my self staring at the awesome enviroment, and felt at peace with the universe...

also in the secret level in mario 64, the one next to the shipwreck, that is a room filled with water and some coins,i swam all the way to the window and just stared at the clowds untill the "alarm" of me drawning went off... i loved that music and that made me feel strangely at ease, my train of thought?... i am in a windowed box, filled with water, in the middle of the sky, so up high i cant see the grownd... in those days i loved swiming and i loved to stay underwater as long as posible, maybe thats why i loved that place (i remember i used to postpone my departure as long as possible, getting coins only when i needed them)

Stalker with the Oblivion lost mod installed.
Just kidding.

Assassin's Creed (for real this time)
Climbing around on buildings and viewing the beautiful graphics that my computer can finally generate is very relaxing. Until I run into an archer an "accidently" start a massive fight, that is.

The train yard mission in Far Cry 2. I was on top of the cliffs with a perfect view of the whole yard and used my Springfield sniper to pick off all the enemies with almost mechanical precision. That bolt action is so therapeutic............

Mass Effect, just sat there listening to the music on the start screen. it always calms me down
man i did the same thing. ill agree with mass effect, if only just for the start screen. i had to download the soundtrack so i could just have the song from it

if i had to pick a second, id say any bit from either of the Gears of War (1 or 2) where you die and it plays the piano theme. there's a bit of frustration in the dying but the music on the game-over screen fixes that for me

Peggle is a calming game and you can sometimes lose hours of your day playing it. I also waste many hours playing Plants Versus Zombies.
