Hannibal has never been the protagonist. Making him the main character doesn't make him a protagonist. He has been established as the antagonist from the get go.

The major difference between Dexter and Hannibal is that you are supposed to empathise (on some level) with Dexter. You're seeing the world from his point of view. A victim of circumstance.
I think I see where our difference of opinion is springing from. When I watch the Hannibal films, I actually do empathize rather strongly with Hannibal just as I do with Dexter, possibly more so. If you don't empathize with one and do with the other then I could see the similarities appearing superficial to you while the two are essentially different.

I didn't say kamp cheesy spies. I just said spies.
My point is that something can involve spies without being James Bond just as something can involve the paranormal without being X-files, but when the similarities become glaring enough the parallel must be drawn. I don't, for instance, equate Santuary with X-Files any more than I equate Burn Notice with James Bond.

Maybe it`s just me, but movies seem to be getting significantly worse while TV gets significantly better. The past 10 years or so have produced amazing shows like 24, Dexter, Prison Break, Criminal Minds, Chuck, Burn Notice etc, but not a single movie I`d rather watch than any of these shows. Even really good movies that are WAAAAAAAYY better than 99% of the crap out there like The Dark Knight can`t really contend with the grit, drama, action, and all around coolness that is any 3 sequential episodes of 24. But that`s just my opinion. I`m curious as to how many think the same way about this or think I`m an idiot.
Well I didn't watch all of the above but tried most of them, and I have no interest in them whatsoever, they just seem like stale reruns of old ideas.
But I agree that movies are getting hell of alot worse, mostly some epileptic CGI spoon deep rush job production, Transformers 2 being the prime example.

As for 24 vs The Dark Knight... well I see it the other way around, but as I mentioned before these TV series never captured my attention.
Yea Dexters such a rip off of.... erm

Well Breaking bad, that's just a re-hashing of... hmmmm

Oh and Fringe. That's obviously just stealing ideas from..... ehh

Atleast try things before judging them.
As much as I love it, Fringe is a dumbed down version of the X-Files.

OT: The only shows I actually follow are Psych, It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Lie to Me, and The League I just can't really get into shows.
3rd series not included. Fringe was very good. And I would argue with anyone who called it rip off of the X-files.
Fringe clearly draws inspiration from the X-Files and I never called it a rip-off, but I don't think that was aimed towards me. There are many similarities to X-Files, but there are only so many ideas.

I think you forgot Reality TV OP.

I have to say that T.V. and Movies are the same with quality, just need to dig deeper and find the jewels hidden among the shit. With your bare hands!

If every movie was great, could we say that any movie is great?
Good thinking right there.

I haven't watched any of those shows you mentioned but I do agree as time goes on the movies are getting more and more terrible, why? Because they ran out of genuine ideas all it is, is remakes nowadays or sequels...

You like the dark knight, I can't stand batman (or I as I call him the worst super hero ever, he's just a rich guy.)
Also Iron Man. Now find yourself a flame shield and hunker down
True, iron man could fly, shoot beams of .... well, shoot beams, has a personallity and looks awesome.

Everything batman related is far too cheesy, from the early days of when a bunch connected "BIFF" came up on screen, to a bat mobile that can turn on a 5P and wobbles.

Sorry, I am going way off topic now.

Did I really put bunch? I meant punch.

Yeah, Iron man movies are awesome, the first was funny as hell. The second one kind of annoyed me in a tiny ways, like the black guy (I don't follow iron man so I don't know what charcter he is playing) beating the actual iron man in an iron man suit fight, what the hell?

Also the black guy being a douche, he basically fucked over his mate and stole his suit, then there magically mates again and all is forgiven? Fuck that!
