I stayed up all night playing silent hill (I think it was 3). I had to use the washroom before I went to sleep but it was like completely silent in my house and really dark and I started to get kinda scared that things might jump out at me. What if my city had turned into silent hill? shifted into the darker town where the monsters creep!

Yeah I'm an idiot, but I seriously was afraid and like tip toed to the bathroom as quickly as possible while frantically looking around in case something came at me.

There was the time I went for about 4 hours seeing my entire World Of Warcraft interface, except with different abilities, complete with icon and descriptions. I had 127 health and gained 2 levels.

The truth may have been altered, but it still happened. Not in that much detail, but it still happened.

I was really into Resi 4 a few years back, played it ALL the time, but on my first playthrough, on the island, I really freaked out. I was creeping through the meat cellar after a terrifying ordeal with some spiky gas-mask-face guys, extremely tense, when oven man burst out at me in all his fiery, bowel emptying glory. I shreiked, fell off my seat, could hardly breathe, and worst of all, a bit of wee came out.

My friends and I used to be obsessed with GTA IV online. Since it's a Sandbox game with cars, we would always race them. I eventually memorized 90% of the cars' names along with their appearances. On long road trips, I would always point out "HEY! THat car looks like a Ruiner!" Idk what was wrong with me.

EDIT: Another story. Everyone must remember Starfox 64. Well, in the Asteroid level, you could go through a sequence of small blue rings to activate some hyperspeed thing that would send you into another level. To this day, almost 10 years later, I still see those little white line-shaped blurrs of hyperspeed whizzing by my face from time to time.

- I kept whispering when I was playing Splinter Cell, and I did the same thing as the OP did when a relative (can't remember who it was) came in asking something.

- I drive by traffic laws in GTA4 sometimes.

- When I still played WoW, I was walking in a little forested area one day with my mp3-player on (with WoW bgm, obviously) and immediately I thought of Elwynn Forest. When I saw a plant with blue/purple-ish flowers, I again immediately thought "O look, Silverleaf"

- Wanting to press A to open a door when I played too much Zelda.

I'm not sure if this counts, but I was having a late-night smoke when I heard some sort of Gaelic ballad being sung/played at a not inconsiderable volume.
First thing that sprang to mind was 'Oh shit!Witch!'

I played and got on the phone at the same time and ended up talking to some random guy because I dialed his number. I have also blacked out for a minute or two and continued to play. No shit. I wasn't killing anyone just running around.

It wasn't me but it was pretty funny.

My brother was trying to get my Mom's boyfriend to play Left 4 Dead on his computer, and whenever he tried to look around to shoot things he moved his head. He had pulled the mouse down when he tried to shoot a zombie and I yelled look up!

He looked at the real world ceiling.

I think this might be why most gamers start young...

When I've been playing TF2 for too long, I actually try to see over things by sitting up straighter as if I'm looking over a fence in real life

Ya...

I've done that before. So many times.
