Has something small ruined a game for you?

Nope. If it's small, then it's too insignificant to ruin the game. If it ruins the game, then it's not small. Also, I don't think I've ever had a game ruined by one thing. It's usually a number of various elements (large and small) that make a game bad, or at least not to my tastes.

Also, I preffer having fun to nitpicking about minor details. Seriously, I sometimes think that many people only play video games to have something to ***** about...

How games like guilty gear just made bridget to appeal to their counter cuture. I mean a yaoi fan wouldn't buy a complex fighting game if it didn't have an underage ladyboy who they could write fanfic about.

Heres a conversation I have all too much:
Me: Hey, you like Guilty gear?
Her: Yeah I love it!!!1!11!
Me: Cool, who's your favourite character? Mines -
Her: BRIDGET! :3333 XD
Me: Uhm, okay. I guess they're cool, what your favourite move with Bridget?
Her: Ummmmm ikd LOL!!1! But he's soo cyuuute X333333 Look at my picture I drew of him naked hes so AWESUM!!

[suub]note: I am not mad that I read a hot doujin andd wanked to it only to see on the last page that it was Bridget. Nuh uh nope never happened.[/sub]

Deus Ex one had an awesome inventory system. It was just a bunch of squares and you had to make everything fit, so when selecting your weapons you had to consider both size and shape. It was great because it was big enough to hold a decent arsenal, but small enough that you had to make some important decisions as to what kind of heat you wanna be packin.

Deus Ex two crapped on it and gave a shitty inventory system that sucked some serious testies.

A scratch on disc 3 of FF VII made it so I was literally only a minute away from the final showdown with Sephiroth and then everything froze. It never let me get past it. Then I borrowed my friend's copy and finished it, but man oh man, was that frustrating.
That sucks man. My copy has a scratch such that I cannot load a save that is within sight of the big crater in disc 3. Of course, I learned it by having it happen on my only save within ten hours of that spot.

Dude I get you there. That was motherflippin awful.

Also, after having finally filled the pokedex to completion, my hours upon hours of treacherous labour was rewarded by being shown - not given, but shown - a diploma. That's just rude.

Driving in Grand Theft Auto IV/Episodes from Liberty City. It sucked hard! Not even going to play EfLC again, IV, or any Grand Theft Auto after IV if RockStar doesn't learn a thing or two from the Saints Row driving system.

If you're getting your armies wiped in EU3, that's you, not the game. Play better.

As far as legitimate anger-inducers? The economic model is JUST far enough off in Civ4 Colonization (even with Dale and Snoopy's Age of Discovery II Mod) that it's the trading-game equivalent of the Uncanny Valley in people.

Edit: Sturmdolch, you may wish to familiarize yourself with an Escapist User Group called "Paradox Fans"...wink wink nudge nudge...we've all played EU3 and more discussion would bring that group to life.
I am just saying if I send 5 armies, all equivalent to the enemies, their army should be dead.
I'm trying to imagine the reaction if you posted that on the Paradox Interactive forums. I've seen comedy clubs during George Carlin performances with less laughter.
To be fair, HTTT's combat is broken. There should no way in hell that a 20K stack can be completely annihilated by a 2K stack with higher morale, with no survivors at all. At least on land you can retreat though, in naval battles the battle is over before retreats are allowed... no captures, no survivors: the bigger side ends up unharmed and the smaller side is completely wiped out every time.

The "Want to go bowling?" calls in GTA IV. And the thing you basically need to make everyone like you in the game.

I have two.

One: Final Fantasy VII, the dual-headed dragon (one half fire, one half ice)

I got this game in 99, when I was about 9/10, and immediately immersed. Hadn't played any of the others, and it was just nothing like anything I had played before. But then I climbed the mountain and faced this fucker? I just got killed time and time again.
Put the game down for a few months, came back, and got past it. Never had any issues with it through any play through I've done since, but that dragon damn-near killed the series for me at my first attempt.

second: Forza 3.
You can penalise me one, maybe two ways. BUT for god's sake, slowing me down (sometimes to 20MPH!!!!!!!!!!!!) penalising my time AND making my lap an "unverified lap"?

Tbh, it's the slow down that angers me the most. It's just not realistic, and that's very bad for a game that prides itself on realism.

The voice actor for the Prophet of Truth in Halo 3. That guy was terrible... It didn't really RUIN the game itself, but it did ruin some of the cutscenes.

Annoying graphic artifacts and shitty Field of View in any game..
Bad level design irritated me A LOT in games Like CoD series, Devil may cry and Legacy of Kain.

I gave up on The Witcher due to the horrible voice-acting.

If I could find an option for subtitles I'd swap the audio off and just read it.

Beyond Good & Evil had one of these instances for me. *Gets brick thrown at him* AAAAHHH, hey I'm sorry! I was liking the game at first, but then the stealth sections showed up and absolutely ruined the game for me. The main problem with it is that it felt really forced, like the developers just added some stealth sections in even though the game engine wasn't built for stealth. I can't stand that sort of stealth.

*The story was supposed to be about the Secret Wars and Marvel Civil War ... which took a backseat to another idiotic story about evil micro-machines taking over the world of Organics EVEN THOUGH the end of Ultimate Alliance 1 hinted heavily at another Galactus attack.
I believe there were licensing issues that cropped up when the second Fantastic Four movie came out that somehow prohibited Activision from using Galactus again. Regardless, I agree with you on the story. I was looking forward to a huge, epic, multi-ending Civil War story, instead we got Marvel Zom-errr I mean Marvel Robot Zombies halfway through the game.
