I don't hate humanity. Hate requires effort.

I think it mostly boils down to teen angst. The majority of this site is under 18, and therefore the teen angst is inevitable.
Given that, though, how do you account for people who have become disgusted by our current tendencies?

People= Shit Yeah slipknot whaa hooo i hate my life< Most Teenagers with there fake problems

I myself can love humanity but there are certian aspects and certian types of people that can go play a riveting game of hide and go fuck themselves with a shotgun to put it bluntley. Otherwise humanity is fine

yep guys like that are what can make the forums annoying and worse (though they are still good) because there are alot of people who go "Im so edgy by hating mankind and being a miltiatant atheist lulz"
Unfortunetly I feel like I'm going to turn into a misanthrope because Im starting to think about how life is pointless and we are but a small spark in the universe D:
I'll probably snap out of it when I actually start doing things this summer.

It's because misanthropes get to feel high and mighty, as if they are the only conscious humans in a world of sheep, burdened by the knowledge (not belief, because the word belief implies that you can be proven wrong) that all humans are fundamentally evil. Humanity as a whole is not a bad species. We will always have evil people, and loud, dumb people, but to quote Albert Camus, "There is more to admire in humanity than to despise." No matter how much evil exists in the world, humanity is still worth preserving.

I say I hate people all the time but honestly I really just like being alone better then I like being with people. I wouldn't want to kill anyone or anything.

It could be that many people on this site are angst teenagers who just discovered that the world isn't all fine and dandy.

Once they either change it or deal with it(Like I am at this moment), they grow out of it.
Yeah, ok. I am a bit teen angsty. I'm not going to argue with that.

I like humanity.

I don't like people.

Unlike most, my reasons aren't "because I watch House".

I don't agree with many of the social stigmas and stereotypes people subscribe to, I don't like how people are almost incapable of forming their ideas and opinions and just do what everybody else does and I don't like that people rarely be themselves. That, combined with the "herd effect" of humans. When you get a lot of people together they generally just start agreeing with each other on everything because they're afraid to hurt other peoples' feelings. I am by no means a mean person but I think people should be honest rather than lie to your face about what they think.

Humans are highly intelligent animals.

People are not.

Hope that makes some sense.

Teddy is a Humanist, then?

Are you also a Trans-Humanist, one who thinks that Humanity not only accomplish great things, but that we can advance to the next stage of existence by our own volition were we to combine our collective knowledge and resources and unite as a species?

Maybe it's because a lot of them are still like prepubescent kids with nothing else to comeback with other than "your mom" and "gay" jokes.

Marry me.

But seriously, the entire point of misanthropy just seems pointless to me, sure we all have people we don't like, but humans are awesome, basically.

We have music, we have culture, we're the first species on the moon, we built everything on this planet from The Great Wall to the Pyramids.

And we have this guy...

I never understood this. How can you hate...what you are? Why do people speak as if they aren't human? Probably them just being all high and mighty.
