Explain how you... "accidentally" had sex.

OT: I found videogame marathons.

I was sort of oblivious to the whole next generation of consoles (PS3, Xbox) for the first 2 or three years of their life. I knew there was no way in hell my parents would ever buy me a console, so I just let it slide.

I was one day looking for something or another, and I stumbled upon an hour long YouTube video of The Shivering Isles.

I was hooked. I am now currently subscribed to about 40 different YouTube commentators, and can't get enough of it. I am in love with it.

I was looking for Sins of a Solar Empire on a recommendation, then stumbled on a little time card for a game I had never seen before.

I have not stopped once loving EVE.

Discovered Harry Potter by accident in...4th or 5th grade. We were doing that standardized testing junk and were supposed to bring a book to read if we finished early. One day, I forgot to bring one and had to get one from a table that had a big pile of books on it.

I picked Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's stone at random. I had hear very little about it at the time, but by the end of the day I was dragging my mom to Target to buy me my own copy so I could finish it.

Since then my mom has dragged ME to get our copies of Goblet of Fire, Order of the Phoenix, Half-blood Prince, and Deathly Hallows on their respective launch dates at around 3-4 in the morning.
Haha, same.

Kinda weird that I was in 8th grade and my Mom was waking me up for the midnight release of the final book.

I was looking for Mass Effect 2 trailers and I stumbled upon a fan-made trailer that had Blind Guardian's And The Story Ends playing in the background. Since then I've seen them live in concert.

Honey-Nut Cheerios. From when I was 5 until I was 14 or 15 I always ate a bowl of regular Cheerios for breakfast (I'm a creature of habit). One day when my mom was grocery shopping they were out of regular Cheerios, so she got Honey-Nut Cheerios instead. It was like I had spent my entire life living in a cave and was finally being exposed to the sunlight for the first time. Honey-Nut Cheerios is the greatest cereal ever, and I will physically fight anyone who says otherwise (I'm 80% kidding about that last part).

I was looking around my room one day when I was little, looking for something to do. Found some book that my Aunt & Uncle had gotten me, which had fallen behind a shelve, gathering dust. I had started reading it when I had first gotten it, but I had put it down after a few pages because I was bored. Seeing as I was now bored again, this seemed like the natural time to give it another go.

That book was "I, Robot".

I love my Aunt & Uncle. But I have to say that I love Isaac Asimov more.

JRPGs. I've been a gamer since I was a wee kid, but then I stumbled on a JRPG (sad to say, I can't even remember which one I played first... I think it might have been Tales of Vesperia, I'm not sure) and I never looked back.

More generally, The Escapist. Randomly clicking links led me to Zero Punctuation, which led me to this wonderful site.

And finally, Special K Red Berries cereal. My mom wanted me to find a "healthier" cereal. I liked strawberries, thus I picked it up. ...Now, I go through about a box a week.

Brand New, the band. I was at a Barns and Nobel and I saw the CD "The Devil and God are Raging Inside of Me" and was like, "hey that looks good." Did not know that it would turn out to be my favorite album of all time.

Also my favorite game of all time, Shenmue...I know sailors and all that jazz. I was at a game store and it was cheap and i needed more games for my dreamcast. I played it and was blown away. To this day there is no game that I have played more. I saw a old beat up copy at a hole in the wall game store the other day, and was going to buy it cause my copy is thrashed. The guy asked me for $40. Nope, didn't pay that much for a new one, ain't gonna pay that much for a ratty one.

Your avatar makes your post REALLY unsettling.

OT: Cage The Elephant. It's like Foo Fighters, Beck, and Nirvana combined.
I have been trying to find a way to describe them, and this fits perfectly. Thanks.

One day I was at Blockbuster. I saw a game that reminded me of a Nintendo 64 game I faintly remembered playing a long time ago where giant bugs would fall from the sky (Body Harvest, but I didn't know that at the time). I rented that game, figuring it was a new-gen version of it. I discovered that it wasn't Body Harvest, it was WAY better than that. It was........DRUMROLL.......Earth Defense Force 2017. An amazing game.

The Persona series: I had about $50 store credit, and after buying I wanted at the time (I don't know, some PS3 game, it was on special) I had about $10 left. The guy serving me was looking a bit impatient, so I just picked up the first ~$10 PS2 game I could find- A new copy of Persona 3.

Valkyria Chronicles: A friend of mine was staying at our house for a few days, because of problems with her parents. I was studying for an exam, so most of the time she was just using our PS3, with the few games she grabbed before she left her place.
When she left, she forgot to take this weird looking JRPG of hers, featuring a lady with blue hair on the cover. A week later, I've finished it, bought DLC, finished that, and bought my own copy. Still waiting on an English release of 3...

Redwall. I can't tell you exactly how I came to find my first copy of the first book, but it's easily been one of my favorite book series and I re-read my favorite 5 every year around Christmas time.

Manga as well. My friend snuck one into my backpack. Death Note, it was.

Needless to say, I was hooked. Full Metal Alchemist is my favorite.

Rock and roll. It was a summer day as a kid. I was up north at my cousins. He put the song "Jupebox Hero" by Foreigner. We were out sitting around a fire, I fell in love with rock and roll. Was really one of those eye opening magical experiences. When you discover something you know will have with you the rest of your life.

Two words. South Park. Accidentally stumbling into the living room when my dad was watching it when I was 8 was a beautiful accident.
