To those of you who dont know me (which is about anyone outside my friends) im a maniacal heartless asshole when it comes to games i ll shoot somebody in the legs just to laugh as they suffer and will put a shotgun in someones face for looking at me i blame growing up with spyro and crash bandicoot.

But something weird happened a few months ago whilst playing gta 4 i decided to kill dwayne so i go through murderising anything with a pulse until i get to dwayne who i kill quickly with a shot to the head then all of a sudden whilst looking at his body in a pool of blood i got a weird thought which i had never gotten whilst playing games, i just thought "oh god what have i done" after this i felt bad for a few weeks about killing him. though oddly ive never felt bad about killing anyone else since.

so who did you feel bad about killing the most in a game my freind says moira brown but i had fun killing her.

well i've never killed a npc, per se, but i have felt guilt for LETTING them die. for example, Ashley in Resident Evil 4 and Sheva in Resident Evil 5. it just makes me feel like such a letdown. lol.

Not really no. But for the reason it's A.I. The way I see it, is it worth my time to kill them, or is it better to leave them alive.

Only the old people in Saint's Row 2, for a non-serious game those oldsters really know how to crank up the guilt, especially when you hit them with a stun-gun and watch them spasm for a good five minutes.

I've never met an npc that I could kill, that wasen't a complete waste of space anyway. So I feel no remorse, but no yoy either because they're useless.

Sometimes. I try to keep as many people alive as possible in the games.

Unless I stand to gain something rather substantial from it.

There was that time in the Pitt

SPOILER ALERT

when I had to decide whether or not I should kidnap Marie (the baby/antidote). It took me 10 minutes to decide what I was going to do. because either way it sucked. Either I deprive this kid of both her parents or I let the parents keep her and let a whole group; of slaves suffer. and It wasn't like Ashur was doing a truly terrible job. Even he admitted that slavery was bad but he had to have them work until the pitt was on it's feet. I did end up taking her though. The whole needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few. But that doesn't mean I had to like it.

The Draconis Family in Oblivion, it just felt, wrong.
Yeah, killing the mother when she thought you were helping her get gifts for her family made me feel pretty low.

Nooo. I don't kill them for fun. I do whatever serves my goal best. Or, well, if they don't serve a purpose I might kill them just for the heck of it.

Captain Emmy Malin [http://www.wowwiki.com/Captain_Emmy_Malin]. You have to kill her to stop the Blue Dragonflight from destroying the magic leylines of the planet, only to find out she'd been threatened into working for the Blues through threats on her family's life. She was trying to sabotage them from the inside as well. You even get a letter from her father in the mail later on telling you that he doesn't blame you. I felt like a right bastard :(

Just the sheriff in megaton of Fallout 3 i felt bad cause he was the only guy who i liked in the game and the only thing that could justify my killing was that i got a sweet hat and coat.

All the frickin' time. I hate it! In The Force Unleashed I often feel bad for the stormtroopers because they're just so damn powerless and pitiful, when they grab at each other or the environment to save their lives, as I toss them about.

At some point I think any game that enables you to massmurder or just stabd and torment others is getting to someone. HEll, as stupid as it is, but I actually sometimes felt bad about killing NPCs in WoW, the game that litterally stacks up your body count beyond numbers.

It is at these points when you know that you have actually immersed (on some level and to a degree) with the game itself. It's a bit what worries me about Prototype because I WANT to play it and I know I WILL butcher some in there. But frankly, get used to something and your mind tends to wander off a bit and if only for a second you think "what about those people...?" BAM!

But all is rather well at these points. It shows that you deffinitly aren't heartless.

BUT (!!!!) that's not to say, that you ARE heartless if you don't feel bad EITHER. The game just didn't grasp you that much on regretting levels, that's all.
