I went over to an acquaintances house to pick up a game of mine, PSYCHONAUTS, and I learned that she's the kind of person who leaves all over her dics OUTSIDE of the cases, and then never puts them away. She just stacks them one on top of another, even if the case is right there next to the stack. She'll pick up the stack and will go through them, grab out the one she wants, and just put the rest of the stack back.

She says, "Here, give me a second." and carelessly knocks discs off of the stack and throws them around to find mine, can't get it into the case properly (rubbing it all over the bump until it clicks) and then hands me the case, like it's no big deal. I can only imagine what my disc went through. >_>

That bothered the crap out of me, and I'd never seen anyone treat game discs/dvds like that before. (I've left a disc on top of it's case once or twice before, but that's because I forgot. Or if the case was lost, I have empty cases ready for just such an occasion)

Luckily, the game still works. I never let her borrow any game discs/dvds after that.

my games are my babies, and I am always very uneasy about loaning them to people.....so yeah, when it comes to games I sort of am a bit stingy with them.
Especially after one of my friend's friends convinced me to lend him a game way back in the day.....never saw it again and my friend insisted that he gave it back. So yeah that is also a big part of my no loan game policy

Anyone ever lend a game out to a friend who lent it to a friend who lent...

And I really liked Sacrifice too.

Not a friend, but I was ordered by my mother to let my brother borrow War of the Monsters and Red Faction - both of which were no longer functional when I had them returned to me, with my brother saying that he deliberately broke them.

I once loaned TES: Oblivion to a friend.
Needless to say he ruined the disc and the booklet.

Simple solution: he bought me a new game in return

i had Star Wars: Bounty Hunter (wich is a really awesome game :D) a friend borrowed it, and i didnt see the game for 2 years :/... when i got it back there was something sticky on the case, and the game crashed constantly, because of scratches on the CD... i never let ppl borrow anything again unless i know they can be trusted ! :)

Oh yeah - my brother lent our copy of Star Fox 64 to his friend. Never got it back. My brother is still semi-friends with this guy, and has been for over 10 years. For 5 of those years I kept badgering him to get the game back. He always forgot.

Oh well, I didn't like Star Fox all that much anyway. Actually, it was my brother who got addicted to that game, not me, which makes it even stranger that I was the one who tried to get it back, while he simply didn't give a damn.

No, but then I don't lend people stuff... I let one guy borrow books from me, but only because I know he is equally careful with his things.

while I don't have my own game lending disaster story. I do have one friend who got lent a copy of final fantasy 7 several years ago. Which he ended up forgetting wasn't his and selling it. The other guy doesn't know and is still asking for it to this day.

I felt very foolish when I lent this particular friend my car, only to get it back with a cracked radiator.

Naturally he's never getting anything from me ever again.

I let my friend borrow Super Mario 64 in exchange for Conkers Bad Fur Day, the agreement was a week or two at the most. His brother pawned Mario so he could buy some pot, so I kept Conker's. Keep in mind, this was at a point where N64 games could be pawned for maybe 10 bucks, so you could still get some pot. However I now see used, cartridge only copies of Conkers are going on Amazon for 36 bucks, so I might've made a smart investment.

Well, I let a friend of mine borrow a copy of Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories over the weekend. Know how long it took for the game to get back to me? TWO YEARS. And he deleted my save file when I got it back. I asked him about it, and all he said was "Oh, that. It was a crap file, anyways." WHUT. I was going to friggin play that and ARGH!!!!
