I know I'm firmly in the minority, but game music is of minimum importance to me. The very first thing I do after resetting the graphics options of a game is to immediately reduce any game music to at least 50%. Nothing I hate more than missing dialogue because someone decided that the game music needed a crescendo. And yes, there have been a couple of times that I've turned it off completely, but nothing recently.

Don't play Forgotten Sands. As for WW, I get the feeling the Dahaka was only invented after they decided to start cutting their own wrists. The Sands of Time was not a happy game, it just didn't need grunge music and grimy environments to pull it off.
Is the game that bad? I was interested because it had the original (SOT) Prince in it. And I did like the music from SOT a lot better. It seemed to fit into the game better, since it had a more period feel. I'm sure they could have made a more organic soundtrack in WW that still gave it the dark violent vibe they seemed to be reaching for.

I liked the idea of the Dahaka, but I feel it wasn't used to its full potential, seeing as how its rarely mentioned except when you are running away from it. Made sense for there to be something guarding the timeline, although as powerful as he was made out to be, he was pretty easy to escape and didn't seem to be very smart.
It's a mix bag. If you look for it on Ebay, you'll see the new look of he prince and he look like he spend to much time with Linkin Park. Tho, Emo was as popular as it ever was back then. Beside, being chased days and nights by a undefeatable creature will kinda put some people on edge. I know some naysayers who would become Emo or just jump into trap. When the Dahaka chase you, you get Stand Alone from GODSMACK blasted into your hears. I kinda like it... but it's just the beginning bit and it start to be aggravating after a while. I love the full song tho.

The Parkour bit are still the same. I've all the Ubisoft PoP and there's nothing changed between them (except One move added in Two Throne) and naysayers be damned. It's the same move list map the same way for all. You do the same distance with wall run and jump the same too. I've checked.

I say give it a shot only for the Updated combat mechanic and the lack of hand-holding sequence.

Minecraft. That music is kind of depressing.

Also, I make a point of turning off the music in the recent Fallout games - it breaks my immersion. It makes having the radio feel more substantial.

Oblivion - It would be a cheap way of telling you a wolf was fixing to jump through the grass and tear you a new one.

I always thought that was the point with minecraft music. Give you perspective on the futility of it all.

Also totally agree with fallout music off.

Finally...I challenge anyone here to try playing Trinity Universe and not want to murder everyone involved with the loading screen music (which you see before and after every mission, so dozens of times every hour) or the character talking outside of conversations (Combat / Walking around / ETC).

You will think you can do it for the first 15 minutes, by 60 minutes you'll be checking the internet for home addresses.

PixelJunk Monsters for the PS3 from the PSN.
This music was fun and cute for a while.... then like a broken record I had to turn it off.

Bayonetta, abused 'fly me to the moon' and put the worse in-game porn over it seen since leasure suit larry, turned it off very shortly after gameplay started in the cemetry
They did use that song way too much. I wasn't a fan of the music, but I dealt with it.

But porn? It's not even a tenth that bad. Suggestive poses do not a porno make. There's tons of games with more sexual content than Bayonetta.

There's a Facebook game (Yeah, I know) called Dungeon Overlord that's a sort of throwback to Dungeon Keeper.

All it has is a 30-second loop of In the Hall of the Mountain King. Over and over and over and over and over.

Ninja Gaiden 2. There's only 3, 4 tracks at maximum worth listening to.

The soundtracks to MvC3 and MK 2011 are also quite forgettable.
I'm going to assume you mean the current gen Ninja Gaiden 2 and not the game that has this

In its soundtrack, cause the original Ninja Gaiden games had awesome music.

Starcraft?

The first one or the second? Because SC2 has, quite literally, one of my favourite soundtracks, ever.

I understand, differing tastes and all, but how is this not awesome?

Most of the Tony Hawk games. I had everything turned off except Rock n' Roll All night, then that got old and I just shut the music off.

I always turn game music off, because it destroys the immersion. When I'm hearing the music, I'm badly aware that I'm at my computer playing a video game.

Left 4 Dead is a prime example of this. I must be the only person who plays with the music off, but I hate it.

I've personally never played NIER myself, but I have played the games it (hardly) span off from: Drakengard 1 and 2 (yes they actually have a relation with NIER). If the composer for the Drakengard games did NIER as well, then I'll be shocked that you turned off the music o.o'

Drakengard's music was... well painful to listen to if you were listening to it OUTSIDE the game. But within the game it supported its disturbing nature quite nicely and fit along with everything else.

It was stepped up in Drakengard 2 incredibly: not only did it fit so well with the game but the soundtrack was flat-out beautiful, even when listening to it on your mp3 player or something.

ANYWAY, OT: I've only turned off the music if its HIGHLY repetitive (for the sake of my sanity, or in the case of games like Tony Hawk, I'll replace it with my own music since I'm into like... one track? from their games.

I generally feel that the developers probably did think about the music they put into the game. For example, in Dynasty Warriors it sets the scene with traditional music on loading and mission screens, and depending on the morale of your army during stages changes the music accordingly.
The only time I have an issue is when the music doesn't work, or is highly repetative. And the latter is one I've only really heavily encountered in muhmorpuhgahs.
