I think, Rogue Galaxy. I reckon they got a lot of things right about that game, such as the story, which was interesting, if a little cliched, the graphics, which were stunning, the setting, an immense galaxy with flying galleons and space pirates and the combat, which was in-depth and in real-time, which worked surprisingly well.

However, the combat, despite its good points felt stodgy, which didn't help, and I'm not sure why, but I just didn't enjoy it. I felt like the game deserved to be played and I had waited to play it for so long, but the game didn't actually want to be played, if that makes any sense.

Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time

I know it's like the greatest game ever, and I agree heavily with this statement.

But I just didn't have that much fun playing it. I always hated the puzzles. I hate puzzles in general.

Gears of War. I can respect the mechanics, and I will admit that the game had fun points, but I can't say that I actually enjoyed playing it. It just wasn't all that fun to me. I know other people love it, but I just found it shruggable in terms of enjoyment.
That almost exactly for me.

Also Okami. I loved the art direction, but couldn't make myself finish it. For whatever reason I just didn't like it.

Definitely. Twilight Princess. I could not get into it, but I admire the craftsmanship. The 3d zelda theme just doesn't work for me anymore, I don't know why.

Silent Hill 2
Both the atmosphere and story were great, but the controls and gameplay were less so. I didn't especially enjoy playing through it but in the end, I am glad I did. I respect it as an immersive narrative experience, but as a game it's meh.

Killer 7 is another one, the style was very different from others, but the gameplay was repetitive and extremely linear. I respect it for it's attempt to go against the norm and experimental nature, though.

Fallout 3. I appreciate it on many different levels, and I got into it for a little while, but I don't feel any burning desire to ever pick it up again.

It has to be Call of Duty 5

Dont get me wrong it is a really good game. I mean the bayonet and the flamethrower effects were awesome, the solo stuff was entertaining as always and the mulitplayer was still as good as COD 4
But thats the problem... It isnt any better. It just feels like a bit of a downgrade I cant really explain it. The AI of the bots in solo mode also dont seem to be as smart as thier COD 4 counterparts. Stuff like your allies pushing you out of cover or the enemies giving you plenty of time to rush at them and knife them even on hardened! I'd say i was averge at COD 4 but on COD 5 i find myself playing on Vet mode just for a challenge! I dont think they will ever top COD 4 it was just too damn good lol

Icewindale, sequel to Baldur's Gate II: Shadows of Amn which is well within my top 10 games of all time, I respect the game but there just wasn't enough story in it for me and it didn't feel like Baldur's Gate to me.

Fable II. Incredibly fresh direciton, incredibly terrible execution. Stats that change how your character looks, the good vs evil morals system, it's all neat and keen and all but at the same time it all feels so generic, the cartoonish look of everything doesn't help make it more fantastic, it just makes it look odd. Running through towns feels like you're running through set pieces in a college play rather than a brand new world. Even with their fresh ideas they dont do anything with them. Ok if I'm bad I get horns, if I'm good I get a halo, fear me or love me it's all the same. Marriage was pointless, most of the quests you get are boring pointless grindfests, getting cash is WAY to difficult in the beginning and WAY to easy from the middle to end, and all the damned towns sell all the same stuff. The only reason to visit another town is incase the town your currently in doesn't have that particular shop you're looking for, but if it does, you can bet your shiney millions it'll have all the same stuff as a similar store in a completely different town. The food thing was wierd. If I eat celery I get thin, Ok I get that, but if I eat Tofu people are going to forgive me for stabbing their dad? I can understand you're not supposed to eat 50 blocks of holy cheese to change your stats and that it's more of a supplimental to your lifestyle but who the hell isn't going to horde the 1 celery they sell at every store in Albion so they can get thin again after they realize pies aren't the best way to heal damage? The economy thing was a neat idea but with major glitches (fixed yet?) that didn't do anything either. For a game totted as having incredible replayability, there IS none. You fight the same 6 or 7 creatures throughout the whole game and once you're a certain level you stop seeing the weaker ones. I've seen more variation in Super Mario Brother's NES title. I think the game makes a lot of assumptions about how you're supposed to play the game contrary to how people actually play the game. Weapon progression is also insanely stupid. A few good hours into the game and I already had one of the best swords and guns you could get without grabbing up a Legendary.

Oh yeah, minor gripe - I know its rather fickle and kind of immature to have 'big breasted sultry beautiful womenz' in your video games, but fable of all games should make you sexier when you stat up, not OUT RIGHT HIDEOUS. 250 pound chisel jaw female anyone? What the hell were they thinking? Too many long range focused female characters are online now because no one wants to look like Chyna.

I played World of Warcraft but hated it. I can see why it has so many people addicted to it, but it's just really boring.

Unreal Tournament 3. It's too fast for me, not to mention the lag.
Last time I mentioned this on 'teh internetz' I got my ass CHEWED.

As for the question,

What is the underlying complaint people in your industry have, if any?

I would really like to know.

Shadow of the Colossus has got to be my choice here though, as a few people here already know (to their utter horror :D), I thought the game's atmosphere and look was amazing but I didn't enjoy playing it much because I was getting so angry and frustrated all the time because I sucked at it and the controls were a bit broken :D
I had to learn to stretch my thumb to adapt to a PS2 controller just for that game. :D lol.

Here, I'd have to pick Final Fantasy.. erm.. the one with the whorish bunny woman, the kid with the white hair, and the smooth-talking pirate. I just can't get into the series; I hate turn-based combat.

Hello everyone - First time poster, long time lurker.
Just some games off the top of my head...

Call of Duty 4: I respect how Infinity Ward revitalized their franchise, but I don't particularly enjoy the "modern" setting, as it feels like something out of a Tom Clancy novel

Star Wars KOTOR II: I respect Obsidian carrying on with the franchise but seriously, what the hell happened at the end?

Fallout: I love the concept of this old PC game, but I have a difficult time getting excited about game's mechanics and structure.

Dark Sector
The game had some major potential, and was more or less fun as the Glaive worked pretty well. The problem was the story. It was horrible, what little of it there was. The multi-player was half assed and it was more fun to be suicidal. The bosses were kind of pathetic, but like I said, it had great potential.

If they had given it more time, they probably could have made it much better if they thought a little more into it, and I would actually like the thought of a sequel, but it would really need some story and less gimicks in it...

Same thing here, I respected it, but sadly it did not live up to the first one.

Wow this is a difficult question to be sure... Um I'd probably have to say that I respect Halo for its great story and it's controls but its just not a game that I enjoy playing to the degree that many do.

Bioshock, I love the story and atmosphere but.... The weapon and the character models fealt toylike or doll like if you ask me. It kinda threw me off.
