Have you ever really liked a character everyone else hated?

Everyone seemed to hate Lightning from FF13, being "another chick with a sword". I thought Lightning was by far the best character, because she kept her mouth shut and killed people, at least most of the time. That's as much as I could ask from any character from that game.

Envy from full metal alchemist and Cole from the infamous game, which everyone looks at as a euro techno looking junkie, but i liked that he looked like an average smuck who just got put in the wrong place at the wrong time. Pretty boy with long flowing hair start getting old.

Nero from DMC4

While Dante still gets my vote for "Most awesome video game character of all time", i just liked the Nero character:

-He wasn't in to make a buck, just protect the woman he loved
-His Devil Bringer added a whole new dynamic to the already epic combat in the DMC franchise (as did the "reving up" of his sword i s'pose, but i couldn't get that to work right)
-There was enough mystery surrounding what his link was to the Sparda bloodline (the white hair, his connection with Yamato) that they could have told a great story with him if they'd stuck with it instead of this Gorram reboot!

so...yeah...that's my pick...although i have a few more...

I didn't mind Barry in Alan Wake.

Which is odd, as I normally detest sidekicks like Barry.

Maybe it was his joke about the "eye of Mordor" and his shenanigans with cardboard cut-out Alan Wake that won me over.
