Have you not bought a game after watching Yahtzee's review of it?

No, though he has actually persuaded me to play a few games. I'm getting Thief in a little bit because he said it was good, and I like the premise of it. I'm also looking into Bastion.

Sort of. I first consider what type of gamer he is and what he prefers (since, and seriously, don't deny it; he's extremely biased), then I remember what he necessarily said about the game. If he liked some parts of it, then that means he just had an issue with a certain part of the game, and identifying what he found wrong can decide whether it's gamebreaking or simply really annoying to someone like him trained to point this kind of stuff out.

If he REALLY hated a game, then it just depends on what game it is. I agree with some of the complaints he had with Brawl, but overall I fall into a different demographic than Yahtzee and thus I find the game more enjoyable than he probably ever will. I still agree with him, though, and I'm not sending him hate mail on how he can't enjoy it. What he finds enjoyable I might not, and what I find he might not, thus I didn't really pay attention to his Brawl review aside from the jokes.

However, since he and I share similar tastes for shooter games and whatnot, his Mindjack review pretty much put that game in the "Never play: EVER" list. Then again, I've already seen plenty of other reviews giving Mindjack crap for its horrible story, horrible gameplay, etc., so I was kinda biased against it before I even saw Yahtzee's review.

I've never dropped a game solely because of a Zero Punctuation episode, but there are times he's influenced my decision not to get a game (or in a few cases, that a game is worth considering).
Exactly. He often reaffirms my decision or gives me a first impression on games I was not interested in and now never will be.

I bought Bastion mostly because of his review. BEST INDIE GAME ever so thanks yahtzee.

I got to say no. However, Before I saw his review of Madworld and Brawl, I thought these games were good. Now, after I seen them, I sold Madworld, and hardly ever play Brawl.

Depends, if Yahtzee HATES a game then I won't touch it e.g. Mindjack, but if he loves a game e.g. Just Cause 2, Portal, I'll go and buy them.

No. He often blows things out of proportion for comedy. Also, sometimes he just straight up doesn't give a shit and gets things wrong - main example that sticks in my head is when he played the latest FF game for an hour and then gave up. I hate the Final Fantasy games, but when you're getting payed to review something you better as hell take the time to properly explore its good and bad sides.

There's exceptions, and I don't use only Yahtzee's review to decide, but occasionally I've put off buying a game until it's cheaper, or asked around a bit more, because of a negative review.
I had actually planned to pick up (or delay picking up) DX3 based on Yahtzee's opinions - if he panned it I figured it was the sort of thing worth waiting for a steam sale. However after reading some very positive reviews the day before the game's release I picked it up. I'm still looking forward to his review though.

Actually yes, but no specific game comes to mind. I used to just buy games that 'sounded cool' and I would often take IGN or Gamespot's word for it. However, since discovering Zero Punctuation several years ago I've began to become more critical of games. Most of the games I buy I REALLY enjoy, and I buy less games which saves me money.

Now that I've had more time to think about it, his review of Prince of Persia (reboot) dissuaded my from purchasing the game and I still have not gotten around to buying it and who knows if I ever will.

Nope. I don't take Yahtzee seriously, he entertains me and that is it. That said, he does make some good points quite often, but he has never made me reconsider buying a game.

Not really. As people has said before, I always take his reviews with a grain of salt... even if he does have some perfectly good points at times

I do not consider Yahtzee a reputable reviewer in any respect. He has pointed out some interesting negatives about specific games that I couldnt put into words myself but Ive never not bought a game because of what he said about it. Ive not bought games because I watched the gameplay and didnt think I would like it.

On the flip side, mostly because of his review I ended up buying a cheap copy of bulletstorm and ended up loving it. If I hadnt seen his review I probably wouldnt have checked it out but Im happy I did

Yes, actually. I know he's supposed to funny and a lot of what he says isn't supposed to be taken too seriously, but some of the points he makes are quite real. Dragon Age 2, for instance, I was excited about. After his review, however, I decided to wait until it dropped in price a little, I didn't want to shell out another 60 dollars for a game that was just Dragon Age's combat with a meh story.

Yeah, you have to take just about everything other people say with a grain of salt, but he's a good critic, and I take his opinions for what they are.

sometimes I'll take ZP into account. things that he's said are utter crap, and other reviewers have said is utter crap, I won't touch.
and the games he's enjoyed (ore said aren't awful at least), I'll often give a go at some point (the steam summer sale was AMAZING for that :p)

sometimes however, I get a reminder that EVERYTHING he says must be taken with a grain of salt. for example, his monster hunter tri review: he mentioned how he got attacked by the big blue monster (lagiacrus), and then waited for ages next quest he was in. then complained that the first big monster he actually fought was a tiny velociraptor thing (great jaggi).
what he DIDN'T mention was that the lagiacrus quest is part of the "tutorial level" (1/5 star quests)designed to show you what is coming up in the later levels, and the great jaggi was the final boss of the 2/5 star quests (after which shit starts to get real). and that it takes about half an hour to get to the point he was at. (it is feasibly possible to take as long as he did if you do all of the nonessensial quests, and took near the maximum amount of time you are allowed)

since then I've taken his reviews MUCH less seriously.

I like Yahtzee's reviews more for their comedic effect than for their critical merit. Generally, I already know whether I'll like a game or not before he reviews it, so no.

If the review of a game I've been looking for is TOO negative, or touches on specific points that seem valid to me, I'll look for it on other review sites/Metacritic.

Yahtzee is never the singular reason for me not buying a game, but his reviews are often the jumping-off point for further research that may shed some more light on the subject.

For example, "Brink" was a game I'd been looking forward to, but after his review, a particularly funny one that aptly compared it to the superior example of Team Fortress 2 (take a shot), I did a little more digging and decided it wasn't for me.

Yahtzee is not a very good reviewer. He's entertaining as hell though. He lets his biases for how he thinks games should be interfere with his perceptions of a game.

Still, funny as hell, but using him to make a purchasing decision is like trying to put a crotch fire out with gasoline. It's not a good idea.
