Thanks for the info, wasn't going to buy it, but husband was making me waver, now for sure gonna pass on good ol' Duke.
You should re-adjust your expectations and do some research. Gearbox have had the game for roughly 18 months, finally completing a game that 3D Realms had been developing for over a decade.Frotality said:its to be expected; gearbox hasnt exactly proven to be competent in the development of DNF.
lol you assShockValue said:I honestly don't care how bad or good it is. I'll be getting it no matter what. Not like I'm strapped for cash or anything so whatever.
Hey, that's not fair. Console games can do more than two flipping weapons. Just because some lazy as programmer thinks that it can't, or that he or she doesn't want to put in a God-damned radial menu is not the console markets fault.GeorgW said:I'd say I'm definitely going to be disappointed. It seems to destroy everything that made the Duke great. That said, I'll still get it as long as it's fun.Carbo said:Hell no. That bust man.GeorgW said:I have a pre-order for the balls of steel edition, but it's more of a collector's item for me than a game. Is it so bad that I should cancel that as well?
The problem seems to be less that people find it outright bad - more that it arguably tilts to the side of being completely inoffensive.
Sadly, that is often used to defend games that portray themselves as fun to cover their horrible everything and then have lame gameplay nonetheless.Woodsey said:People will still defend it, because "its just meant to be fun" is now used as a serious defence for something being crap.
Nothing is immune to hate and people like to hate things. We could have happiness in a can and someone would come whining that it doesn't come in a bottle.GamesB2 said:Rather than comment on my view of the game (I haven't got a code through yet) I'm going to make some glib comments about these threads in general.
There is so much negativity... I feel like these threads are all taking place in a London bus stop queue, everyone grumbling to each other saying 'I knew it, I said it'd be late and it was' and generally everyone with zero expectations of anything fulfilling themselves ever so slightly by having those expectations fulfilled and grumbling about being right afterwards.
Maybe I'm just bitter from not sleeping properly for a week now, but these threads pop up for every game ever, even the decent ones.
Ergh, I'm just going to ignore the negativity and go waste my time away building a watchtower in Minecraft.
Okay mister righteous, You took my comment way too seriously and also seem to have made up a conversation I don't recall having with you... ?bahumat42 said:Not really being one of your so called pessimists we just don't want bad games to have money wasted on them. Not while their are plenty of good games being released. I called it with bulletstorm ( a rental game, a very fun one i might add, but nothing worth worrying over) and im calling it with this. Some people may even enjoy it, but it won't be great, it won't come near the high standard of titles that are going to be released this year.Ragsnstitches said:My biggest issue with this is that all the pessimists will have ammunition to use for all their pessimistic ways.
I can hear it now...
"DNF sucked major donkey scrot, now if you carry the 5 and subtract the 2 that would mean HL3 is total cock and balls"
OR
"You know that game you've been really looking forward to for like 2 years now? Well it's shit. Why? Cause DNF shattered my hopes and dreams THATS WHY!"
And as supporters of the industry we want good games to do well. I get equally pissed when expendables gets a sequel and A-team doesn't. Where people spend their money has knock on effects. And dukes a game which probably isn't worth another full sequel after this (although xbl arcade stuff is more than welcome, because that seems like a better fit to me).
But hey feel free to call us nazi's for not being overwhelmed with joy for a game out of its era.
