This happens with people who watch cop movies/shows/games. They think they know what it's like to be a cop or understand procedure. This is espcially annoying cuz these same people are usually vocal opponents. "Why'd they kill the rampaging coke-head with a .38 that he was shooting at people with? Why didn't they just shoot the gun out of his hand?!"

Just to make the OP feel better about his shooting credentials, a .303 is a pretty powerful round, roughly equivalent to 7.62x51mm NATO (which has about 6 feet of flesh penetration on average), a lot more so than 5.56mm thats used in most standard assault rifles or 7.62x39mmR.
This is the kind of shit we are talking about >.>
Who, me or scum?

I've got one. People who think they can free-run after playing Mirror's Edge.

3 separate instances I've talked to people who've played the game and, without a warmup, proceeded to go charging around a park jumping benches and rolling (very badly) when they land. I've told all three of them that they'll break something if they keep it up, because I could see the pain on their faces when they stopped. One guy I told this to, then turned to leave, hadn't gone 10 steps before *CRACK*.

Yep, broke his leg. I drove him to the hospital, called his parents, called him an idiot, and left.
I love those guys, it's hilarious, I do something like it, I get juniors at my school to try to copy me and my mates and watch them hurt themselves, god it's funny.

Yeah, people tend to be like that. I had a friend in middle school who when he played the original Age of Empires thought he knew everything there was to know about history.
That was exactly how I used to be when I was younger.
We all were, to an extent. I shamefully remember thinking I knew all there was to know about guns after playing CS.

oh my god I have this one friend who played nothing but Halo, we got him to play Call of Duty 4, now he's the expert on guns and equipment in the military, and he didn't even know that Chernobyl is a real place

I read an article several months ago that talked about a gamer from Nebraska who helped administer first aid to a family that was in a car accident while they were waiting for the ambulance to arrive. He told reporters that he learned first aid from a video game.

Thought that was pretty cool.
Probably cause he was playing America's Army. That game actually does teach you first aid, but doesn't do shit in game.

Im glad I managed to steer myself away from being like this.
I usually read up on guns/history/facts that correlate to whatever my main game is at the time so I can actually appear like I know what Im talking about.

I just like reading up on stuff, after World At War came out I think I spent about 3 months reading up on WW2.
Probably cause I have no life :)

On some football forums, people actually recommend clubs to buy certain players based on Football Manager.
Wait for the game ,or recommend players for real life?

i had a friend who played WoW with me and he suddenly decided that because he played a WoW, he was going to create his own mmorpg and write the lore in it and thought it was going to be amazing. Except the King in his was named King Toast...he says it was supposed to be pronounced like "Tao" but he spelled it "Toast". Regardless, I had something to laugh about for months.

There was also a guy in my Sci-fi lit class who played WoW, too, who thought he could do better than Blizzard and wanted to do the same as the aforementioned friend, so he became an English major because he thought what he had written so far (he refused to let anyone critique anything he ever wrote, let alone read it) was sublime. I hated that guy so much.

I met a guy at the mall one time who got 100% on Jessica on Guitar Hero 2 set to Expert and he had the audacity (and as you will read, poor judgement)to turn around and start telling me in the most condescending tone you could imagine "Dude this song was cake. Now I could play it for real" Having played a little guitar my self and knowing how hard it is to learn I took this staement personally and longed to force his nose up his urethra and let him drown is his own piss, but I settled for shattering his ego by telling him "Uh DUDE, Just because you Jerk-Off the end of a small, undersized, plastic, molded Ukelele does not make you the next Hendrix. So move out of your parents basment and pick up a REAL six string Mother Fucker!" and he just dropped his jaw as I left before GameStop could give me the 86 for my verbal thrashing.

Looking back, MAYBE I got a little worked up. =P(sorry)

that pisses me off.
my friends think they would be like the tits in a gun fight becuase they can shoot virtual people...im from an army family, my dad tought me how to shoot, clean, take apart, range, and zero in a rifle...ive also fired off a variety of hand guns.
so i always bet 20 bucks that i can out shoot my friends, money won is alot sweeter then money earned.

I know a few people who are the exact opposite, who've been shooting in real life a couple of times and then think they can slaughter everyone in any FPS, but when they get their ass kicked they say "aww thats not like sniping in real life"
Oh the hilarious irony !
