If your interested in meetingup for some questing or just to ask some questions feel free to contact me: My character names are Seigeengine, Jinger, Fritobandito, Smaw, Docholiday, Sapper, Jendrak, and Dischordia.

Definitely, to all people trying out DDO, do NOT log onto the thelanis server. It's by far the worst one in terms of lag and related game play issues.

DDO is a great game. It DOES take a while to get into, but it's worth it.

But lag is really a problem that they haven't adequately addressed (yet).

I play on the Thelanis server, mostly from 10pm to 1 am Eastern US time and occasionally during the day.

I'm happy to answer questions to the best of my ability, expecially about class, gameplay, quests and such. If I'm not in or about to enter a quest, I may be able to get a lowbie character and help out. My highest level characters below cover most of my experience.

Look for Narran (ranger), Wratchet (Warforged cleric), Schnorri (fighter/ranger combo), or Anikha (wizard/rogue combo).

I also highly recommend the DDO wiki http://ddo.enterwiki.net/page/Browse_portal and the user-written game and strategy section of the DDO forums http://forums.ddo.com/forumdisplay.php?f=104 for other advice.

I would also recommend to anyone checking out DDO on a free trial to swing by the ddo.com forums. There is a Free Trial General Discussion area where many helpful DDO vets can give advice or work out a place to meet ingame to answer questions or just have someone to group up with.

It is also a great forum to ask questions if you just want to go solo but have something come up you are curious about.

I myself am a forum lurker, but if I see someone ask for help getting started or just asking gameplay questions, I am always willing to offer my 2cp or help ya through a quest or two. I grouped up with a new escapist player earlier today and did a couple of quests with him, all in all it was a fun experience for both of us.

Wait. Wait.

So basically, DDO is like Neverwinter Nights + more players online + better combat (BLASPHEMY!) + awesome graphics?

I just had an evilgasm.

Thanks for the wiki, Schnorris. I'm so happy there is Disintegration spell - now I know I'm making a Wizard for sure.

edit: Just noticed who made the game possible (except for Turbine). Atari, Wizards of the Coast... If only there was Bioware there ;p

For a fun twist, consider making a warforged wizard. The ability to repair yourself with magic but still have all the offense spells of an arcane caster is a heck of a lot of fun, in my humble opinion. One of my favorite characters is my warforged caster.

Yep, I have noticed that spell. And I already consider making a Warforged ;p Especially since my first Wizard was a metal/flesh golem (human body with adamantine hands).

Guess I'll try the Thelanis server first.

I am more than willing to lend a hand for anyone wanting to come give DDO a try. Go to the DDO website and DL the game. I and my guild are on the Khyber, I can help you and set you up with some gear if need be. We'd be more than happy to lend a hand to those who are willing to give it a shot, it might suprise you how wonderful the game really is.

Guild name is "The Shadowhand". Try later to get in touch with me, I should be on in a few hours. It wouldn't hurt to check out the forums also, alot of good information and helpful people there.

My Wife and I would be willing to Help out someone as well. We are on the Argonnesson server. Look up the Guild Relics of the Last War. There are not many of us in Relics, but we are always willing to help out. And to Agree with Quanefel, there is a lot of very good information on each servers forum page. I know some of the Servers have a mentoring program as well for those just starting out in the game.

I play on the Khyber server and certainly would help out anyone needing it. Look me up, Tharlak, Fripp, Bumblefoot, Hexxon.

Khyber has great support for new players and I found the folks willing to bend over backwards to help you out when I joined about a year ago. And don't forget the DRAMA!

Hello I'm a DDO addict. :p

Now that I have that out of the way. Should any of you wish to try Khyber you will find myself and a good support system there. We have a custom chat channel for answering questions. Type /joinchannel help when you first enter the game. Then preface your messages with /1 example /1 Who is Fred?

I play a character named Mythe. I also have a dedicated helper on Korthos who would be able to teach you the ropes about the game. UI, movement etc.

As stated also signup and post in the forums Trial section to match up with someone to help you. You can also pm me here and I will arrange a time to meet you.

Watch out, this thread might attract alot of angry people from the Valve vs Turbine thread.

I'm yet to try DDO, but this computer probably can't handle it.
I thought of that when i decide to make this thread.

However, if at least 1 person goes to DDO and joins the community it was well worth the flames :)

Hi I play on the Argo server. I know it's like Argonesson but I'm never sure of the spelling so I say Argo, as most do. You can find me in the "boondockers" guild on one of my many toons: Shyly, Shybright, Shycasts, Shylykills, Shylygets, Justncase... I think thats it lol. Oh yeah my cleric, Shystorm.

I used to play on Khyber but have recently, within the last 2 months, begun to play on Argo because it's a bit more laid back and not so focussed on the grind.

There are many great guilds on Argo to run with, some of them include: boondockers, Bearded Badasses, House of Sword and Song, Ransacked, and many more.

New folks feel free to look for me for anything. If you need some help getting started, building advice, someone to run with, or whatever. I'm usually on, at least when my wifi is working correctly and it's not pouring rain outside.

If you are on the Sarlona server Look up anyone in The Keepers of Stormreach guild. We are made for new and returning players, and will do our best to lend a hand if we can.

Kobs from Phoenix Crusaders Khyber here.

Stormreach Thieves Guild (SRTG) is a newbie friendly guild with an open door policy. Great for new players. You also get a shared chat channel with the Phoenix Crusaders (allied guild). SRTG and PC can help you out with most things. PC is mainly an endgame raid guild so plenty of experience there. SRTG is great for levelinging up and heaps of helpful people.

HAIL HAIL HAIL HAIL HAIL ERIS ERIS ER...Oh, wait, it's spelled differently. Never mind, then.

I'm thinking about the trial for this game, but I don't just want to be playing a WoW clone, or a crappy port of D&D from tabletop to PC...will I be getting either of these things?

Didn't the game come out like 3 years ago? If they're gonna address lag, they probably would have already, yeah?
