Reading this thread, it sounds to me like you're making up reasons to excuse yourself from being a selfish tosser who feels the overwhelming need to control, as if what other people are doing is wrong because you don't share the same interests.

Being 'good' at video games isn't a prerequisite of buying whatever system. Maybe she just thinks it's fun. Remember fun?

From your wording, it sounds as if you want the PS3 so that you can play it. If you have an Xbox and she has an Xbox, you guys can play online together. You can start to teach he how to play videogames (if you think you can handle that). Also, I have played the Kinect (but not the Move) and I found it to be very enjoyable and would be easy for anyone to play it. Move seems more involved.

If she wants a Xbox, be supportive. Please do not be a jerk.
Trust me, I could not teach her how to play even if I wanted to, it's that bad

Ever occurred to you that maybe she wants to play video games because it's something you can do together? Which leads me to believe you don't have many, if any, other interests. What else is she into? Are you too?

that,s kinda hard since a PS3 costs more you can say that,s shes allowed to use your 360

Pretty sure the slim only costs 299.99 like the Xbox Pro did a while back
you could make some stuff up that makes the 360 Slim&Light look like a death trap (like: "it could randomly burst into flames" or "it turns into GLaDOS" something like that)

Not being able to play is not a bad thing. If you think you can not teach her the more "hardcore" games, a Kinect is a great party game. It is fun even by yourself. Maybe, if you want this to be her decision one hundred percent, let her try out Kinect and Move. As it seems that those two devices would appeal to her the most.

Um... if she wants to spend her own money on it, shouldn't she be able to buy what she wants?

I know I'd get really annoyed if my boyfriend tried to convince me out of buying something for the reasons that you've stated. Personally, it strikes me as a bit self-centered for you to think that she should buy something other than what she has already decided she wants, just on the basis of you already having the system.

Now, as I don't own a PS3, I can't compare it to my 360. Perhaps if you said what kind of video games she likes, or what her reasons are for wanting a 360 in the first place, it would seem a bit more reasonable that you're trying to convince her out of her decision? At the moment, though, I don't agree with your attempts to dissuade her, so I can't really contribute more than that.
Well she has a PS2 and a DS but the games she has for both systems are , well puzzle games I guess, Professor Layton and something else, also racing games, pretty sure the PS3 has better racing games. I'm also doing this for her, seeing as she doesn't have a job (though I don't know how much money she has so for all I know she could buy two xboxs or an xbox AND a PS3)

Also now that I think about it, she'd hardly be playing it as well, so it'd be a waste if she bought either, she goes to this school thing from monday to friday and she has other stuff all through the week (except for monday, thursday, friday, and the weekend) but she's with me the days she is available, she'd hardly get time to play either system.

Her DS as it is, is LITERALLY collecting dust as we speak, and don't get me started on her PS2

Buy a PS3 yourself, let the lady buy whatever she wants. If she's paying for it with her own money. Honestly the PS3 isn't anything special.

I say let her get a 360. Voice your opinion, but dont be forceful and respect her decision. Even if it is a bad idea, its only money.

Also, dont go to the internet for a convincing arguement, noone takes the internet seriously.

You havent really given us any info on your living situation though.

DO NOT GET THE PS MOVE!!!!
it is worse than all the others, at least with Kinect you can pretend you're in Minority Report.
in the end there are no great games for either, just wait.
also, it's her choice.
Minority report???....what? the hell does that have to do with the kinect...

Either an Xbox 360 or the Nintendo Wii, but like I said, I'd rather she got the PS3, that way we could just exchange consoles every now and then. (Although now that I think of it, I'll probably just get the Kinect when I get a job)
It does sound like you just want her to buy a PS3 so you can play it. You could ask her why she wants an Xbox 360 and such.

Quiet Stranger said:
Kind of, but I also don't want to see her waste so much money (SHE DOESN'T HAVE A JOB) on a Xbox 360 AND a kinect when I have a perfect one that she can use any time. Also I know for a fact no wheres in her house is big enough for the kinect (you know, that whole, "stand farther away" thing that the Kinect does)
And doesn't the Wii need space as well?

Not as much as the Kinect (again, so I've heard)

It detects movement...kinda like the screen in...minority...re..you have no imagination do you? >.> All you need is a holographic projector...and a kinect, and BAm you have pre-crime HQ. without the future seeing balding triplets.

I was hoping this would be some kind of sex talk gossip thread. Oh well.

Oh, and if you're going to be imposing yourself in her financial decisions, don't be surprised or bothered when she starts reciprocating.

Oh no, she's not an idiot, she's very smart, she told me herself that, I don't quite remember exactly what she said but it was along the lines of "I would find it hard just to move my character and the camera at the same time"

PS3 $300
Xbox 4gb plus kinect $300
I think you just want a ps3, this won't be good for a relationship let her get what she wants.

I've never seen much of that movie, maybe only the starting scenes, the one where they go to the house and the guy or whoever is about to kill a woman or not yet....I don't remember much.

Good movie, you should watch it. If only once....I've never had the urge to watch it again.

Back on topic though, I say you talk with her first for why she wants the Kinect. If anything you can use those reasons and find better examples on the PS3 or something. ...Then you'll be doing it for her >.> and not being selfish and all "I WANT A PS3! HERBRHERBRBOOBOOBOOBKMSESGRR D:<" It can only help! Do it!! Do iiit!
