If the PS3 is superior than the Xbox 360 in any way, it does definitely not lie in the price. You say she doesn't have a good personal economy support?

Dude, if there's anything that is really fun, is to play co-op over Xbox live and play some games like "Castle Crashers" or "Halo" if she were ever to dare FPS. She also gets to use her free time home on learning to play the damn thing.

I see no reason for any of you to get the PS3 though.

From the sound of it I gotta agree, it sounds like you want her to get so you can play both 360 and the PS3.

You havent really given us any info on your living situation though.

What do you mean by "living situation"?
Are you living with her or not, really.

It's only her money. Not his.
I thought that was implied. Its a good point though. She can use her moeny how she wants, unless shes an invalid, in which case she doesnt need a 360. Buy yourself a PS3, and help her find a decent 360 if she really wants one.

...so you want her to get a PS3, a console she doesn't want, because she spends a lot of time in school while you, what, sit home and game? That it'd be more convenient for you?

Your edits make you dig your hole deeper, OP. Also this whole situation is not cool. I'm normally not all for the Xbox, but if she wants one she can have one. Maybe she doesn't feel like always playing co-op? Maybe she wants some alone gaming time?

Now I never said she didn't want a PS3, actually funny thing, she has a PS2 so it's a wonder she doesn't think about getting the PS3.....anyways, I don't even know why she wants the xbox 360, so she might be thinking about the PS3 or just doesn't know about it (she's not really a big gamer) also I have a job! Trust me, she always wants to play CO-OP, all the games she does have (for DS and PS2) are multiplayer games, the problem is she doesn't have people to play them with (DS, not PS2, she has people to play PS2 with....I think) and when she is here (when we do play games) it's always CO-OP games, in fact, if she could, she probably would play along with me on my 3D co-op games (so far we've only played side scrolling beat em ups)
Become a PC gamer. Lot's of co-op to go around! ...just not easy to transport...and...I'm sure you'll find other problems. But you can play all the old games you want on a PC! long live obscure NES games! ..Just don't play battletoads. Level 3 is no fun coop...

oh god....is that the racing one? Also thanks for reminding me, I DO still have my SNES and BOTH Battle toads game, apparently she knows of it, so we can play that. I wish her PC was a good gaming PC, also I think she likes playing games with me cause she's right there, she enjoys spending physical time with me and so do I.
Yeah the racing one...with the walls. That looks like it takes place in a giant colon. That level takes way too long...and 2 players makes it horrible x.x

old games make for better coop anyway I think. especially hot-seat coop, PC makes good coop with LAN games designed for it, and emulators for old consoles, I'd maybe recommend a gamepad though, unless you have an anti-ghosting keyboard. But hey if you have real consoles, even better! And it's a hell of a lot cheaper. You don't even need a huge gaming computer for some of the more fun coop games.

You're right, now I just gotta find more CO-OP games for the SNES, know any? I think what she'd like the most is ones we can both play at the same time, like Battle toads, not like DKC where you tag your partner in.
Oh man, -do- I! there's ..um...you got...er...

3 Ninjas kick back
Aero Fighters
Contra 3

Theres a list somewhere, google 2 player SNES games, should be one of the top results. It's a forum has a link to a list of NES games too. Pick what sounds fun I guess? XD and...then have fun

She works for her money and she can buy what she wants. She doesn't want a PS3, so she doesn't have to buy one.

You want a PS3? You buy it.

Don't get a Kinect or a Wii... They both suck. Mostly little kid games. Any of the games that attempt to service an older crowd are just pathetic. I am not kidding. Unless your gf is into games designed for four-year olds, then by all means, get the Kinect.
I think your wrong about the wii, Mario and Zelda and Metroid are awsome! (except for other m but that never happened) Honestly all other games? rubish! I dont need to play any other games from the rest of my life...the holy nintendo trinity is all I need because Mario is so awsome!!!!!

yeah your right about the wii :p

Move isn't that great you need to make sure the camera is just right to get it to work.
Also it's your girlfriend choice isn't it? and it doesn't matter whether she is good at games or not. and what you saying that PS3 only has lots of fun CO-OP games?!?! Xbox 360 has great CO-OP games as well!

So, you think she'd waste money on a kinect because she's not very good at video games, but you think she'd have fun with a PS3 and Move? That really doesn't make much sense... And why would it help to get a PS3 if she's played and enjoyed Scott Pilgrim on your XBox? I know the game is available on both consoles, but I can't see any logic behind "she likes playing this game on this system, so she should get this system instead." Whether or not it's the truth, you really don't provide any good reasons why she should get a PS3, and it does kinda sound like you just want to use it, yourself. There are plenty of great co-op games for the 360, especially on XBox Live.

Now, I'm going to assume that she's done research on the kinect, move, and wii, and has her reasons for why she wants one over the other. If not, then maybe you could show her all the options and then still let her choose instead of trying to get us to convince her to go along with what you want.

Personally, I've been talking to me fiancee, and we're going to be getting a kinect soon. She's not much of a gamer, but she enjoys playing video games once in a while. Mostly, she wants a kinect for the fitness and dance programs, and she'll more than likely play some of the more accessible kinect games and have a good time.

If your big concern is her wasting money, then offer to let her hook the kinect up to your Xbox to use whenever she wants instead of buying an entire bundle. Or, failing that, help her look for decent prices on kinect/Xbox bundles.

Get her a 3DS. That'll keep her entertained, plus she can use it on the move, shes seems like a busy bee so that seems to make more sense than something she can only use in her spare time. Fuck she could just whip that bad boy out on a commute to school or whatever.

This.

The whole thing sounds like "I already have a 360, so help my gf get a console I don't have so I can play it too". She doesn't want a PS3, she wants a 360. If you're really going to make an issue out of it, I'd recommend her getting a different boyfriend, not a different console.

I agree with the majority that your gf should be allowed to make her own decision about this. But still.. maybe it's a bad decision on her part? You don't let a good friend go without no experience to the stock marked and spend every penny he has.

That said though, some of the nerds on this forum will rage so hard at any subject involving a girl. They wage a war down to hell itself to "protect" said girl. This is sexism at it's finest, even though they think it's righteous.

When my girlfriend wanted to get into gaming, and thus asked me for a good game to start with I didn't quite know. So I made a thread on this forum...

I got a lot of good advice, but every now and then a shining white knight would come and explain to me that my relationship was in shambles because I didn't treat my girlfriend with respect.

For all you escapists who answered to that thread:
Thank you. She tried out some of the games, liked some, hated some, and eventually found her taste. Now she's a happy gamer.

For all you white knights, my girlfriend has a message: "Get laid"

You can add as many later edits and disclaimers as you want. It's still as clear as the sky that you want her to get what you want.

If your girl wants Kinect let her have it.
Also if she is not into videogames she might better get a Wii or 360 Kinect because its more friendly with CASUAL GAMERS and you just said your Girl is not good in games so buying a PS3 will be a bad choice because most of the exclusives are pretty hard. Let her have her own choices, I have a friend who is a girl and she loves the Wii.

Your intentions might be at the right place, but if she wants Kinect let her have it and don't even think on exchange consoles, because you can exchange games if both have the 360.
Also if she broke up with you she can at least say she bought the console for her
