I really enjoyed Oblivion, I thought the immersion was great. But I will agree that the main story was utter garbage. On the other hand most of the guild quests made up for it. I enjoyed having the ability to stubble around the continent, not doing the main quest. In fact, I only completed it with my fourth character. I think that the auto leveling, where the enemies leveled with you, actually helped the game. It allowed you to go everywhere instead of stuck in low level places.
