It's nice to know I'm not the only one who thought the gunplay didn't look right. At all. It really does look like he's trying to be cool, which isn't what Dante does, damnit.chinomareno said:I don't like his silhouette, his clothes, hair plus he comes off as a smoking advertisement, it just doesn't add anything to his character. I'm not sure who they are aiming at because I doubt he appeals to younger fans either.
Apart he looks really clumsy in the gun play parts of the preview, Tentacle sword action looks really unconvincing even though it's totally scripted atm.
Very meh.
Trying too hard to be cool? how? is it the cigarette thing? please explain.-Zen- said:It's not necessarily that he is emo, so much as he happens to look the part.MeXR said:It's funny how everyone calling him emo and yet you are the one who are crying and bitching.
He's NOT an emo.
To confirm whether or not he's emo, we'd have to know about his personality, and all we know about that at this point is that (1)he's no longer magnificently arrogant, and (2)he's trying too hard to be cool. Actually, we only know the first part. The second is speculation.
Not at all. His coolness is supposed to just flow naturally.-Zen- said:It's nice to know I'm not the only one who thought the gunplay didn't look right. At all. It really does look like he's trying to be cool, which isn't what Dante does, damnit.
DMC2 was such a massive screw up it's been pushed to the end of the timeline and they are probably never visiting there again.Julianking93 said:Not at all. His coolness is supposed to just flow naturally.
Still, I will admit that seeing the trailer made me somewhat hopeful. The look of the game seems good. Reminds me of a Silent Hill game in all honesty.
And personally, I liked Dante's new voice. Much more brutal sounding than before.
If they were just to change his look (and in my own perfect world have it set AFTER DMC2 for a change...) it would be perfect.
I gotta join in here with you two guys. I'm a proper veteran of the DMC series and I don't mean that in any sort of pretentious fanboy way. I've got every game in the series plus the demos of those games, I've played though each one to completion multiple times on Dante Must Die Mode except for the first one(fuck you 3rd Nightmare battle....FUCK YOU!!!!*ahem*) and I happen to think that the backstory of the series is one of the best in gaming.Dane Tesston said:Thank you, thank you, thank you. DMC needed the change or we just would've had another Series ala Megaman.
The City looks awesome. Dante really looks like some kind of fucked up project. Which seems realistic. I think this is exactly what would happen if humans find out we have Demons among us.
Thanks NT for having the balls to actually change something about the formula.
Edit: To anyone who thinks he's emo: What's emo? It's not just the dark hair and lipstick. It's more about how people react to certain situation. Id' like to remind everyone of you of the scene from the first DMC were Trish died. Remember that scene, and don't tell me his line wasn't cheesy and god-damn-emo.
He looks totally like a Punk, which would make sense. Dante in DMC3 was just an Adrenalin Junkie. But this Dante looks more like the guy the Dante from the first one would become.
Really liked this post. He does have white hair btw, its growing in, check 0:59 in the trailer.anthony87 said:I gotta join in here with you two guys. The reason I put that whole last paragraph down is so people will have a bit of context for when I say this;
Ninja Theory are making the right move.
After watching the trailer and seeing the screenshots I was ready to jump on the whinging bandwagon with the other guys on this thread but then I sat back and took a look at what happened with DMC4 and what happened was that DMC4 nearly doomed the series.
It gave us a new main character out of the blue, fuckall backstory on said main character(yes, I'm aware of the novel), pushed Dante to the sidelines and chucked in a new decendant of Sparda just so that people wouldn't shit themselves at the concept of not playing as Dante. What this did was create a ton of questions that got no answer in the game, which is probably a good thing as the answers more than likely would've been ass pulls anyway.
Ninja Theory are being left to deal with the mess that was created when Kobayashi(sp?)basically screwed the series by badly trying to take the series in a different direction and that's no small feat.
As long as the combat is solid(which, judging from the trailer, it looks to be)and they give a plausible reason for the change in hair(the hair is important, it's pretty much what marks a decendant of Sparda)then I'm happy. Hell I'm even looking forward to it and if Ninja Theory are willing to make such drastic changes then it shows that they're really committed to taking the series in a new direction the way it was meant to be, not just by taking a new guy and slapping some white hair on him.
Oh, and will people shut up saying he looks like an emo? I know it's fun to be part of a group and all at this stage it seems like you're just copying what the people on the first couple of pages are saying just so you can be part of the hate. He had black hair with a bit of a fringe, it's called a hairstyle, a hairstyle doesn't make an emo.
Aye I know, but that's been pointed out so many times already I didn't bother putting it in. Also, is it just me or does there seem to be more white in his hair in some scenes compared to others?Fr33Kye said:Really liked this post. thats what I thoughttanis1lionheart said:Dante's son?
Sure.
Dante's younger self?
No!
I'm not saying they should return to the gameplay of DMC2. I didn't really like that game (not as much as other people mind you. Everyone seemed to hate it. I thought it was....okay)GamesB2 said:DMC2 was such a massive screw up it's been pushed to the end of the timeline and they are probably never visiting there again.Julianking93 said:Not at all. I want one set just after DMC3! All his weapons and badassitude still intact!
ya know, you could tell who was batman in batman begins, you could tell who optimus prime was in transformers, you could tell who the whole cast of the star trek reboot were supposed to be. but you cant tell that guy is supposed to be dante. or that that world is supposed to be the DMC world.AugustFall said:Eugh, jesus. It's a remake, it's not supposed to look like the white haired guy. Same name, same characters but I'm pretty sure this is a new story. A story outside the accepted DMC storyline.
