I just got done with a(nother) thread about a FF7 remake that mentioned Dante's new design. I thought to myself "how bad could it be?" After seeing his mug shot and reading some of these comments, the ONLY thing I'm disappointed about is the lack of white hair, which the OP said will "show through" at some point in the game. It's going to be interesting to see Dante before his powers truly developed.

wtf, when i saw that earlier and i thought it was an enemy. good god, i mean, seriously, Dante was a powerful character, recognized globally by his white hair, sword, guns, clothes etc. even many non-gamers/anime watchers recognize him a mile away.

younger or not, that is not Dante, at best it is a kid who is failing at cosplay

you should all be ashamed. im glad capcom is trying to keep the series going by making it into something fresh rather then having to deal with the same cocky old dante. these things are always make or break but i for one would rather see the dmc series reinvent itself rather then watch it fade away amongst dantes chessy one liners and predictable "imma save the world!" plots

I was actually hoping to see a "I'm going to save Dante" plot set after DMC2.

At the time it was probably assumed that the motorcycle sound in the final cut scene of it was Dante arriving, but since DMC 4 we've been introduced to another possible source. I can totally see Nero getting into a fight with some demons on the way to see Dante, only to find Lucia and come up with a plan to pull Dante out of hell.

That wouldn't have included Dante at all, and despite looking like him, Nero's personality is very different, as is Lucia's.

I honestly don't mind the new design.
I'm just concerned that the 'dark' new look may lead the developers to detract from the humor.

Yeah. I wouldn't mind if they make him look younger, but at least they should make him look even a little like Dante. And by that I mean the face, and not the clothing.

It's like how the pictures of Max Payne from the upcoming Max Payne 3 makes him look more like Sean Connery than what he looked like in the previous games. Though Remedy changed Max's appearance in Max Payne 2 quite a bit, too.

He doesn't exactly look manly, but definitely doesn't look like a girl. I mean seriously: if I dated a girl who looked like that, I'd be the girly one, by those standards (that, and my wife-to-be wouldn't be too excited aout me dating somebody else).

Currently, my only beef with this new "look" is that they went for the overused androginous look that's soooooo in fashion, and that pisses me off. He lacks madness. He's overflowing with emo. And well, so far, I'm not too fond of the new Dante.

But I guess we'll see if it ends up working in the actual game, huh? Perhaps the white hair will be "acquired" at some point in the game...

We'll see.
But it's kinda off for now, like playing a thin Mario or a politically correct Duke right now (ewww...).

Okay, maybe I'm crazy, but did anyone else feel like in DMC4 that Dante was getting...old? I've enjoyed the games for quite some time now, but I feel like little has happened to the character himself. Don't get me wrong, this could be terrible. However, we know nothing about the new Dante's personality, which is what I feel is important about the character. Sure, he looks like a classic brit punk rocker(not emo...really, that's not what this looks like) and doesn't have his signature hair(yet), but we shouldn't write it all off just because it's different. Give it a shot and quite being so afraid of change kiddies.

It's being developed by Ninja Theory (a western developer) and Capcom USA. So it's the Westerners who think Westerners are twats today.
