Pre-DMC3? IE: How his hair turns white? That wouldn't be a bad idea. Telling the story from the beginning and showing how he turns from Human -> Half Demon Half Human could work. We'll wait and see, but I still feel uneasy seeing this design.

I have a theory. This is Dante before Devil May Cry 3, where Ninja Theory has set the story, BEFORE his demonic powers all come into play via his Rebellion sword. This is the reason why he is beaten up, has no white hair present and arrested by the police. The story is also set around his mother's death, him going out against them naughty naughty demons, getting his original sword nd pissing off Virgil somehow. End of theory.

This was the most intelligent thing I saw in this entire thread, and the first thought I had when I watched the trailer. He looks like he's about 16 years old, doesn't have white hair, wasn't using a sword, and he was smoking. Origin story makes the most sense. DMC3, though set earlier on the time-line than the others, wasn't really a proper prequel since it didn't so much as embellish on Dante's past as it was just SET in his past.

Glad to see they took the androgyny down a notch. As someone who isn't a DMC fanboy it looks alright. I only played the fourth and the main characters were incredibly feminine and unbearable. Good to see a western touch bringing some sanity to a japanese franchise.

On topic, I think it's a TERRIBLE idea. This is NOT Dante; there is NO trace of the lovable, John Mcclane-esque rogue that everyone in gaming loves. This is just like what happened with PoP and Bionic Commando. And also, WHY the hell did CAPCOM reboot the thing despite the fact that the series was still high-selling and critically well-received?
