My first DMC game was the third one and I LOVED IT. Played some of the fourth and most of the first game. "just so people know where I'm coming from"


-I was very shocked to see the new design, and the trailer has be a little tweaked as well. HOWEVER, it looks like they are trying to give him a more "punk rock" kind of feel, which would actually couple nicely with the game play you want in a DMC game. I'm not going to shun this game, though I will be somewhat cautious of it. As much as I loved what I'd played of DMC, I'm pretty sure the general consensus of the 4th one was somewhat "meh". The new art direction "again, urban punk rock what have you" could actually work pretty well. We will just have to wait and see. For those who haven't seen the trailer, check it out as this image from the OP is somewhat BEGGING for fan bombardment, I really don't see why they chose to use it.

I agree a hundred percent; I am an avid DMC fan (Having every game, book, and dvd of it, and beating DMD mode in all but 4) and even I have to say, the trailer seemed kind of cool. I will not accept him as my beloved Dante, but I kind of enjoy the appearance change.

Mostly because the old looks included:

shaggy white hair in his face (for ALL of them)
A gothic dress suit.
A gothic vampire outfit.
A weird combo that made him look from some model magazine (the shirtless jacket with khakis)
And a cowboy outfit.

I must say, I enjoy his new "punky look".

From the trailer and screens I've seen I have to say that the new Dante looks horrible. I try not to shun games before I play them but I just hate the new look. It's a whatever at the end of the day though. As long as the game itself is fun thats what matters.

And people are saying he looks gay and emo and blah blah blah.Honestly,he looked a lot more emo before,now he has a sort of punk look.He looks like Anakin Skywalker from the second SW movie.

IMHO,people should jsut stop being such cry-babys.Let them reboot the series!Who knows,maybe something really good will come out of it.

I wouldn't call myself a fan of the series, but I fail to understand the need to call this character Dante. As Bayonetta proved, it's okay to make a DMC clone. I don't see a point in courting fan backlash like this when they could have just made a derivative or a spinoff featuring Hilary Swank here.

You don't know anything about the game, you don't know anything about the story, you don't know anything about Dante as the character, you don't know anything except what little was given in the trailer.

I'm not a DMC fan, I fully admit that, but for god's sake get off your high horses and just wait. Until you actually get the damn game in your hands, or at least see some gameplay footage of it, stop complaining about "the loyal fanbase" and all that bullshit.

Jeez, what is up with all this recent backlash? First it was BioShock Infinite's "ridiculous" setting, and how "this doesn't make any sense!" and "how will this possibly tie in with BioShock?" and crap, and now it's with this shit.

For god's sake, I know that fans are really devoted to franchises, and even I'll admit that as a fan of Metal Gear Solid, the recent "Metal Gear Solid: Rising" game worries me about not actually being "Metal Gear Solid" but even I will wait to see how things pan out instead of berating Kojima Productions for "backstabbing" the "loyal fanbase" of the Metal Gear franchise.

EDIT: And don't compare this to the InFamous 2 redesign of Cole. First off, nobody was going "Sucker Punch, you're backstabbing your loyal fanbase!" or any of that shit. Second of all, nobody really complained until we saw some gameplay footage of it. Thirdly, Cole's model was not 100% final to begin with, Sucker Punch were still tweaking the Cole's design and happened to go with what the fans wanted.

Edit: Though, to be fair, all Ninja Theory really has to do change the hair and eye color and everything's all good.
