Know what I hate? Fans of things.
If it was up to fans, nothing would ever change or develop in any significant way. everything that ever existed would stay exactly the way it originally was.
I want this game to do SO well that no one even remembers the 4 games that came before it.
Also, your hero? the one who's "wise-cracking" and "funny" and "badass"? He's actually pretty poorly written and lazily voice acted consistently.

As long as i get the devil may cry hack,slash, and shoot game style, ill give the new DMC a try. I put up with Nero in DMC 4, this new one cant be that bad
Eh, I don't think they're my type of games anyway, I prefer God of War combat to Devil May Cry's (at least I do compared to the DMC4 gameplay). I'm not in any real hurry to play the previous ones (Unless Sony makes a collection...)Funkiest Monkey said:

Why is everyone freaking out about this? They're still the same emo young adult, the only differences being hair color and realism level. Honestly, Dante was never supposed to be the most liked character, just a demonic angst-filled kid.

I do find this whole "appeal to western audiences" thing they have going on. While you can see the reason behind it, personally the reason I sometimes like games and characters like this is because, well, they don't loook western. After all, we've got western games for that sort of thing.

If the game is a reboot of DMC it could work, I don't hate the look but theres no way that he grows into Dante as we know him. But if they are reinventing Dante I think a new look is a good thing. he seems to have an attitude that matches the old Dante, but how much do you wanna bet that this game get shit about the smoking.

My first DMC game was the third one and I LOVED IT. Played some of the fourth and most of the first game. "just so people know where I'm coming from"
-I was very shocked to see the new design, and the trailer has be a little tweaked as well. HOWEVER, it looks like they are trying to give him a more "punk rock" kind of feel, which would actually couple nicely with the game play you want in a DMC game. I'm not going to shun this game, though I will be somewhat cautious of it. As much as I loved what I'd played of DMC, I'm pretty sure the general consensus of the 4th one was somewhat "meh". The new art direction "again, urban punk rock what have you" could actually work pretty well. We will just have to wait and see. For those who haven't seen the trailer, check it out as this image from the OP is somewhat BEGGING for fan bombardment, I really don't see why they chose to use it.
