I don't like his silhouette, his clothes, hair plus he comes off as a smoking advertisement, it just doesn't add anything to his character. I'm not sure who they are aiming at because I doubt he appeals to younger fans either.

Apart he looks really clumsy in the gun play parts of the preview, Tentacle sword action looks really unconvincing even though it's totally scripted atm.

Very meh.

I meant in his younger years. Not just through the games. Dante is, what, 18 in this game? White hair is a demonic trait, but being half-human he didn't always have white hair.

Edit: If you pause the trailer at 00:59, you can see his white hairs coming through.

Seriously, I don't hate it because it changes the look. I hate it because it looks awful. The supposedly male character looks way too much like a female inmate. I haven't played any of the Devil May Cry games, but I hope he's not supposed to be the emo girly man this picture makes him look like.

Then he listens to that My Chemical Romance song that is TOTALLY ABOUT HIM and lets his window open so the girl next door can listen and realize he's totally cool. Someday she'll dump that prick Adam and realize he's nothing more than a bully, and come running to his open arms, because he's sensitive, not like Adam, that jock bully. Maybe he'll even show her the song lyrics that he wrote about them meeting in Hell and then breaking free because of the strength of their love. Shit, that's totally going on Facebook.

This is awesome. Except replace Adam with Vergil and it would probably be even more accurate.

I haven't. What's your point? That he was trying to look cool? I don't see it that way. Yeah, the director was trying to make him look cool; that goes without saying. But Dante? No. That was Dante being Dante. That was very natural to his character.

Despite feeble attempts by writers to develop him, Dante is a 2 dimensional character and a lot of his appeal lays therein. I don't care if he looks like Groucho Marx as long as he's dropping really bad 1-liners and jumping off buildings while shooting demons.

Bullshit. If his character was shown to be at least moderately consistent with his personification in the rest of the series (2 not withstanding), then I'd forgive the appearance. If he was still the smartass-grinning, wise-cracking, fun-loving bundle of awesomesauce, I'd dislike the new appearance, but roll with it as the character would ultimately be the same.

Please stop talking out your ass and realize that most of us don't only have a problem with his appearance. That just happens to be the ribbon on the package.
