My favourite is the W2000 from the Hitman games. Its powerfull, the noise the bolt action version makes when reloading is sexy, and it looks wonderfull.

I love the sniper rifle in Fallout (and Fallout 2), just because it's so satisfying to land that critical eye shot and it has wonderful range. Half Life 2 has a really cool crossbow though, it shoots superheated rebar, that's awesome! Too bad it's a projectile weapon and not a hitscan, very hard to use against moving targets since its difficult to judge distance and direction in a game.
The sniper rifle in Fallout is brilliant and the critical eye shot is my favourite thing in all of gaming. I normally hate sniper rifles but in Fallout it is the daddy.

W2000... I think you mean the Walther WA 2000, often abbreviated to W2000.

But that is not bolt action, it is semi automatic, and although the bullpup design might be useful it weighs over 16 pounds fully loaded and with telescopic sight. Twice the weight of most sniper rifles and more similar to the weight of a belt-fed machine gun. The semi-automatic mechanism was also much more sensitive and can make it very hard to be secretive.

On top of that only 176 rifles were ever produced, hand made, they now cost $80,000 EACH! Which is an extraordinary sum, you could buy a couple of stinger missiles for just one of these rifles or One Hundred Remington 700 sniper rifles. I always found it weird in Hitman I could get more money by not going to the both of trying to kill my target but just selling the rifle they supplied to do the job.

The rarity, cost and how cumbersome it is means it is completely impractical for any combat use. This weapon was only ever designed for the European market and for use in elite target shooting tournaments.

But god DAMN is it sexy lookin'

Out of ones that actually exist in games, I prefer the M95 Barrett used in BF:BC. The game really has the scope for proper sniping, and I love the sound it makes when I drill someone from a mile and a half away. It creates this echoing boom that is wonderfully impressive.

What I would like is a multi-stage Coil-gun that is less glitchy and more satisfying to fire than the ones that exist in Fallout.

Crossbow. Hands down. There is nothing more satisfying than seeing a Bolt sticking out of the enemies head as you walk by. Specificaly the Half Life 2 crossbow.

Semi-automatic - its "realistic" as it does it should - a long ranged weapon that can kill in one well-aimed hit.

Crossbows are tedious and Sci-Fi snipers are rather boring.

The Half Life 2 crossbow. It shoots red-hot metal rods, adjusting for curve over longer distances is pretty fun (and gives me that warm, fuzzy feeling sniping gives me), can bounce off of surfaces if aimed right, and can even pin enemies to walls.

Generally, though, area plays a greater role in my sniping satisfaction.
