So, a funny thought just occurred to mind.

Remember when Anonymous denied involvement in this whole thing? They should be handing us the hackers instead. Because you know where this is going, right? The US Government on the case? It's going to lead to the US making an excuse of this to go after Anonymous, regardless of involvement or not.
that's a VERY good point...
Anonymous should want these guys brought to justice more than anybody, seeing as how the only defense they have is their own word that they didn't do it (which isn't worth much when it's coming from internet vigilantes). I wouldnt be suprised if it was an Anon who tracks the neckbearded douchebag(s) down in the end.

Sony starts bitching about how they got hacked. FBI is trying to find the hackers.

Hey, protip, Many other things have been hacked without these guys caring. Why should they start now? It's also a commonly known fact that Hackers are like weeds - You can get rid of them only for two more to come back. Or something like that.
If you can't see why 77 million user's information being leaked, with 2.2 million credit cards [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/109661-Hackers-Offer-PSN-Credit-Cards-For-Sale] (allegedly) for sale would be cause for the FBI's attention, then you're either have the most well guarded information in the world or you can't seem to understand that 77 friggin' million people have had their information leaked.

OT: They better find those assholes fast. I say we concentrate on finding the bastards who did this to begin with, let Sony and the authorities rip them a new one, then get pissed off at Sony if need be. Don't cause any more ruckus than there already is, it's only going to make the situation worse.

I'm reminded of a joke.

The US President takes the CIA, the FBI, and the Police to the woods. He releases three rabbits in three different sections, and tells them to find their respective rabbit.

The CIA takes its time, collecting evidence, interviewing foxes, stuff like that. At the end of the day they come back to the President and say 'The rabbit doesn't exist'.

The FBI firebomb their part of the forest, and after spending the day sifting through the remains they bring the rabbits partial, charred corpse to the President.

The Police go in, and come out a couple of hours later with a bear, that has a black eye and is yelling 'Okay! Okay! I'm a rabbit! I'm a rabbit!'

... what I'm saying is, I hope they get caught. Not because I like Sony, but because I have friends with PS3s and I would not like anyone to have their personal data.
So the FBI wins?

Wow, when this first happened, i figured it was no big deal.. now this is starting to get serious.

Good thing i didn't have a credit card on my PSN account, suckers! :p
Did you have a netflix account, and if so, do you pay for your netflix with a credit card? Yeah...that info was also available to the hackers. I know, sucks don't it?

What we SHOULD do is allow anonomuys to help.

I've seen thedm identify people by the wallpaperin the background of a photo, and come up with name, adress, and all that in less than an hour.

"The FBI is aware of the reports concerning the alleged intrusion into the Sony online game server
Alleged? Where the hell have they been, Sony has all but posted pictures of how the hackers managed to smear digital feces on the firmware of the servers.

Everyone knows its all Sony's fault! Did you know, for example, that their servers are protected by nothing more than a mouse trap, some lubed-up floor tiles, and a copy of Justin Bieber's 'Baby' on repeat?!
Oh man, that's just....that's beautiful dude. Three posts in and you've already won the thread.

I was wondering when we'd stop the blaming and get some other people involved in the investigation.

AND WHAT THE FUCK IS QRIOCITY? AND WHAT DOES IT KILL THE CAT?

You guys are like, sooo stupid.

OT: Well can they hurry up? I really can't be arsed to call my bank, and I just got done memorising every single digit related to my debit card, just so that I don't have to search for my wallet every time I buy something online.
Actually that song on repeat is pretty decent security. Keeps everyone but brain dead teenage girls away.

Well the good news is that now we've narrowed down the possible suspects then.

OT: Hope they get what they deserve. Jail time. And lots of it.

Dear FBI/HS... have you checked Foster City, CA? Im betting the root cause of it all started somewhere around there. Now perhaps we can stop wasting government resources on a corporations private interest before someone in the Tea party has an myocardial infarction about wasteful big government spending.

Not that I'm a big fan of the Department of Homeland Security, but this beats writing letters to Sony whining that hacking networks and stealing personal info is a bad thing.

I thought Homeland Security just spied on American citizens, logged internet data and made wide sweeping website shutdowns on behest of large media companies. It's nice to see them doing something that might actually help citizens.

Please cut off their hands.

I heard a guy said that while part of a juror panel to get kicked out of selection. And honestly? I like the idea.

That actually sounds pretty damned effective to me. I don't know that I could bring myself to break in past that.

OT: Finally, someone talking about catching the hackers, and not bitching about Sony.

It's not only in Sony's interests; it's in the interests of the seventy million odd people whose credit card details may have been stolen. That's hardly an insignificant thing to be doing.

So.... does anyone else think this will be made into a movie one day? It needs more action tho sure, but I wonder what the full story will be when all is said and done.

Did either of you do it? If you say no I expect you to prove it by finding the people that did and making them confess. Afterall, both of you seem to know how to use the internet.

Personally I could care less if they are found. I didn't like sony pre attack, and i'm not exactly loving them post attack.
