How badly have you ever been physically hurt?

Okay, here's one that may be considered freakish. I was sitting in a truck in a parking lot with my boyfriend at the time and a eucalyptus tree fell on the truck, straight down the middle between us (luckily I was not sitting right next to him, it was a bench seat) and smashed the roof just about to the seat. And no, we weren't in Australia, this happened in Santa Barbara, CA.

He saw the tree coming and just barely managed to duck under the steering wheel and I hadn't a clue what was going on so the roof of the truck struck my head leaving me unconscious with a concussion and a broken neck. I was pulled out of the truck by my then fellow employees while I was knocked out for fear of the truck exploding (apparently it was smoking) and later spent a month in the hospital with nerve damage down both arms, broken neck and some temp. memory loss. Couldn't walk and had to wear a brace for a while until they could do surgery on me. I was high as a kite most of the time on morphine until about the last week, so what I remember is a bit hazy.

But I did learn to walk after having surgery to fuse my neck vertebrae (they had to go in and open up my back hip and take bone from there to use in the fusion) and the only residual effects after 20 years has been stiff neck and some spots of numbness in my shoulders, arms and hands. Pretty lucky, huh?!

Broke every single one of my fingers at one point or another playing rugby and (American) football, dislocated knee, dislocated elbow, concussions a plenty.
Worst was probably getting ribs broken in a rugby maul.

I broke both collar bones within ten weeks of each other. I didn't even know the first was broken till the second happened and I got an X-Ray - the doc told me it was just bruised. Genius.

Fell out of a tree when I was eight. I went straight through my radius and halfway through my ulna. Ouch.

xP I fell off of an electrical box and broke my arm. After I got it all casted and such, and I went to the Zoo, my mom was trying to cheer me up. I fell and cracked my head open, had to get it glued back together. Not a great day >>;;

Tore my wrist open on the edge of my snowboard, basically lost all feeling in it because of the cold and walking down the rest of the mountain.

I fell down an entire flight of stairs and landed on a cactus.

Was the cactus like, positioned specifically at the bottom of the stairs? If so why?

Yeah, it actually was. The stairs led to my backyard, and there was a cactus about a foot and a half from the end of them. The cactus was good sized, too. Lots of long needles. I was in Argentina at the time.

Oh, I see...I was picturing a normal house with a staircase that just randomly ended in a huge cactus. Your clarification made more sense...

hahaha i am now. giant cactus waiting there with evil red glowing eyes.

id say my most painful was when i game off a bike and smashed in my knee cap, went the hospital got it all sorted. day after my sister comes running past me as im sat on the couch and runs into my knee. i pass out from the pain of it. damn that hurt.

ive cut myself a few times aswell with scissors and stuff over the years. coupla skateboarding scars. dogdy ankle from aforementioned skateboarding. scar on my forehead from headbutting a skatebaord as someone was about to drop in i was coming up the ramp and he hadnt seen me. put his board down, slam. board meets head. ouch

Let's see...
Broke my left wrist in 3 places.
Broke it again, but in 5 different places 6 months later.
Fell out of a chair and landed on a plastic bowl that cracked, pieces got stuck in my back and I had to have it glued together after doctors fished them out.
Almost cutting of the top of my right index finger by accident.
Almost cutting of my left ring finger when sharpening a homemade sword.
I've also got various cut and burn marks on my hands that is pretty much covering them, but those aren't from any specific accident and has accumulated over time.

Anyhow, worst thing I'v ever done is probably cutting my wrist up pretty bad when slipping and falling through a window... Didn't hurt much, but scared me to death, and made a huge wound... Later at the hospital they insisted on applying anastethic through a HUGE metal syringe, right down into the wound... not fun D:

A couple of years ago, my friends and I were running from the cops down a long underground tunnel. After a few gunshots, we crashed, and I broke tons of bones and had severe internal injuries.

That was the first time I died.

I LOST MY LEFT EYE!!

In October of 2004, My cousin and I were playing outside and we were about 50 feet apart. He picked up this piece of metal and tried to hit it into the field in front of us. He swung too late, metal split into three pieces, went straight to me and a piece hit my eye. I went to the ER, took an ambulance to another city. My ophthalmologist put some "jelly" in my eye and he sewed it up.

And now five years later, I have a prosthesis that goes over my eye that's basically a giant contact that looks like my other eye.

Gotta love life.
