CROSS COM CHAT, it really annoys me because I don't want to play WaW when friends are, I don't want to play Resistance when they do, so I end up playing with little douche 10 year olds and if I mute them then I have a very boring game. I want to tallk to friends while there in different games like the 360 does.

It getts pretty annoying at times but that is the only real gripe i have with it.

The PS3 would completely 100% dominate the market if it was cheaper.
I'm sure that's how every single console with higher specs and features than it's competitor could dominate the market, however it would also run the risk of sending the company bankrupt. Hence why there's always one company that stops this from being an arms race.

Besides, a console is only as good as it's games. It doesn't matter if a console was twice the power of the latest gaming PC, if the games aren't interesting then I could give a toss.

Exclusives.

* Improve the user interface. I know it works fine, but it could be much more improved. The PS3's UI is basically like using Ubuntu or OpenOffice's UI: it works, but it's not great.

* Backwards compatibility

* Make it cheaper (I know this sounds stupid since they just did cut the price, but a $200 PS3 would be better than a $300 PS3, am I not right?)

* Improve the controller. I used to be a dual-shock fan for the previous two generations, but it's old hat now. The 360's controller completely dominates it in everything but the D-pad, which honestly, isn't that important anymore.

That's all I can think of at the moment.

Firstly, according to metacritic, the PS3 has more high quality exclusives than the 360.
And yet, the 360 has 269 games in the 100-75 range on Metacritic while the PS3 only has 174.

A better controller is my only complaint. Really it's just the marshmallow like shoulder buttons and the insensitive thumbsticks. I'd very happily use a 360 controller to play my PS3.
thats one thing that will never change. and good that it dosent. I just dont like the 360 controller it feels wierd.
To each his own. It's just a difference of opinion, as I'm guessing you play primarily PS3, while I have always been a 360 gamer until the recent PS3 price drop. I do like the face buttons and the D-pad, but I'm just at a loss with the analog sticks.
Yeah I am. but yeah like what hazy said, after a couple of weeks you will get used to it.
Oh and like I asked Hazy, can you give me a quick list of your PS3 favorites? I only have Uncharted and MGS4 and need some ideas as to what my next purchase should be. It's sort of a tie between LBP and Killzone 2.
okay
LBP
Killzone 2
Rachet and Clank future.
Resistance 1 and 2
(below arent released yet but soon.)
Uncharted 2: Among thieves Ships 10/13/2009
God of War Collection (first two games.) Ships 11/10/2009
God of War 3 Ships 4/1/2010
Heavy Rain 2/16/2010
Demon Souls Ships 10/6/2009
White Knight Chronicles Ships 2/16/2010
M.A.G. Ships 1/26/2010
Rachet and Clank Future: A crack in time Ships 10/27/2009

didnt list MGS4 and Uncharted 1 cause you already got them.

The triggers just need to be used enough, and it begins to feel incredibly natural. Do you own a PS3, and if so, how long have you owned one?

As for the triggers: I think it's more to do with their placement rather than with their sensitivity.
Don't get me wrong, I love me some Dualshock, but they can be a hassle when jumping between the two consoles.
Well okay that makes sense, I do have a PS3, but only for about a week and a half haha. So I'm guessing that's it. I still don't like the analog sticks though, they just don't jive with me when I'm so used to the 360's layout. I do really like the Dpad and the face button shape on the Dualshock though.
Indeed :D
That's primarily the reason why I like to get fighting games for my PS3.

As for the analog sticks: They should begin to feel incredibly natural in no time at all.
Yeah I guess, I'm just having trouble adjusting to the lessened sensitivity when sniping or trying to be very accurate with weapons. Like you said though, I'll adjust in no time at all. Oh and as I'm brand new to the Playstation, could you give me a quick list of your favorite games? I'm looking for some ideas, as I currently only have MGS4 and Uncharted.
wow you picked 2 of the best ps3 games as your first games. good job. =D
Well I made sure I did my homework first. =P

I've actually wanted to play MGS4 since it came out, but lacked the money for the console. Are you and FPS fan? If so, would it be better to get Killzone 2 first or one of the Resistance games?

Far better controllers, far better online service, far better game library.

Would make me not regret buying one.

if you like class based multiplayer go with Killzone 2 first, if you want a pick a gun and frag fest pick Resistance 2.

Honestly? Devs need to develop games that max it out to its potential. none have so far, and they've had enough time at this point.

Add backwards compatibility, wait a year for the best of 09 PS3 titles to come out.

That's all.

Seriously, I don't own a PS3, but I'm considering buying one. One of the major setbacks for me is, well, the games. The multiplatformers I already own for the PC or 360, and I feel like a few exclusives and a few DLC games won't be enough justification for a $300 console. If better PS3 exclusive games came out, I feel like I'd be more inclined to get one.
You may want to wait and see what new exclusives are soon to be arriving.
Confirmed ones like Uncharted 2 and God of War 3 seem to be shaping up quite nicely, while MAG (After playing the beta) definitely shows promise.

Hmmm... the PS3 is very close to being as fully featured as they come.
But I would definitely not say no to Backwards Compatibility. It would also be nice if they did something more with Home, because I am a poor friendless chap that has no one on PSN to talk to. And for some reason I can't link my PSN account with the Escapist, I have no idea why...
But a nice Internet Browser would be great, I use that thing all the time, an a new Flash player, and generally speed it up and increase compatibility. Also, how about integrating facebook? like Microsoft did with netflix. Because right now I can basically only look at my facebook account, can't update my status or anything.
But other than that, I have nothing I want added to the PS3, it is probably the most full-featured console on the market, and it just got off to a rough start and bad publicity. It ucks for the people that refuse to play it, since they are really missing out.

Large backwards/cross compatibility. Let it play nearly all major PS2 and PS1 games in addition to the cross compatibility with the PSP. Microsoft would not be able to get near to all the exclusives the PS3 would have if that happened.

This is the oldest, lamest excuse in the book. There are plenty of incredibly good exclusives for PS3 that are a lot better than 360 exclusives

Terrific PS3 exclusives:
Metal Gear Solid 4
inFAMOUS
Ratchet and Clank
Drakes Fortune 1 and 2
God of War III
LittleBIGPlanet
Resistance
Motorstorm 1 and 2
Ninja Gaiden Sigma
Fat Princess (DL)
fl0w (DL)
GT5 (DL) And the future release

I can only name a few terrific exclusives for 360:
Halo 3 (I guess)
Gears of War 1 and 2
Crackdown
Forza

I don't mean to flame, it just needs to be said.

I never implied that I was leaning more towards Xbox; I just don't feel any inclination to buy a console.

For people willing to invest in a nice PC (myself included), every genre is done better for a PC. Currently, the only thing the consoles are good for are music/rhythm games and simply being relatively cheaper and simpler.

Besides, your list of "terrific" exclusives for each system are a bit biased. At the very least, you could have listed games from the XBL arcade like geometry wars.

There's a reason it's the oldest excuse in the book: it still hasn't happened yet. If you've found some titles that interest you, that's great! Have fun. Personally, those titles do very little for me. When Heavy Rain comes out though...

Slightly faster graphics chip, so more games can be rendered at 1080p, not just rendered at 720p and scaled.
Unified system memory and more of it over a wider bus.
CPU should be good enough as it is. Blu-ray needs no updating.
Get rid of that silly HD-throttling that seems to be going on so us who wants to install SSD's will get a performance benefit.
Wireless updated to n-spec.
Make the thumb sticks convex rather than concave (like the xbox controller)

But the biggest improvement needs to happen in the developers tools.
