Setting graphics aside there's not a lot that can be improved upon. It has the friends feature, achievement/trophy feature, a marketplace and all the other small things built into it. If Sony was to take something from XBL it'd probably get the fans and everything else to say 'they're copying' to cheapen it. To me the PS3 is fine; it plays games and lets me have fun.
Agreed completly, the only thing I could see being changed is maybe more options on the themes customisation, but thats just being picky lol :D

To be honest, I like XBL better. It looks better, I like the whole Friends List shown as Avatars stuff etc. Also, they should really give the PS3 a unique interface, not the regular XMB that all Sony's TVs also have.

Aside from that, the exclusive games: God of War III, The Last Guardian, Heavy Rain, Uncharted 2 etc.

What I'd expect from a PS3? Goddamn backwards compatibility, that's what. But it was not to be, and Sony have already announced that the whole concept went down the crapper forever and ever.
Agree with the backwards compatability, but not with Sony. I'm almost willing to bet money that a year or two after the PS2 goes out of production, Sony will do an about-face and BC will "miraculously" appear on any new PS3s.

I dunno. Technical part rocks,so only thing i could want is more of original, exclusive IPs,so i could justify buying it. Sorry guys, but i won't buy a console for a single game, even if it's Ratchet & Clank.

- Better controllers
-- design must be over a decade old now
-- symmetrical analogue sticks fail in every way possible
-- Non-DS3 controllers are far too light, even the DS3 could use some weight
-- Being forced to buy trigger extensions just to make it playable is just awful.

- Basic features
-- Released with barely any online capabilities, were Sony just sat there with their finger up their arse?

- Release it on time
-- 18 months late with fuck all to show for it.
-- Their idea of becoming the lead platform & making the 'normal' architecture (PC, 360) the 'hard to code for' platforms, they would've have dominated the market.
-- All we have it a second rate media centre with Bluray functionality and additional gaming & social features.
-- Sony threw away over a decade of PS1 & PS2 market domination, and that good people, makes them twats.

Two words: BACKWARDS COMPATIBILITY!!!
I don't want to buy an outdated PS2 for God of War 2 and Shadow of the Colossus; grrr!
They already have the emulation software to do it, for a long time now, but they just refuse to release the software.

"Buy PS2, ya consumer!"

"" Good news"", since they'll re-release GoW 1 and 2 for PS3 later on... $$$

A better controller is my only complaint. Really it's just the marshmallow like shoulder buttons and the insensitive thumbsticks. I'd very happily use a 360 controller to play my PS3.
This! Totally one hundred percent. I liked the PS1 and PS2 controllers but the PS3 controllers are total ass-hat and I hate them. That and better games.

The PS3 is a superior system to the XBox, but I have an XBox for two reasons... the games, and the controller.

From what I've seen, Live is better than Home as well, but I do have to pay for it so I would expect it to be better.

Heavy Rain is a step in the right direction for the PS3, but I don't see myself ever getting one now because I just don't have the time to play all the 360 games I want, and I already have a blu-ray player.

When i go out, allow me to pick up a game i don't have, its multiplayer on both split screen and online (both at the same time, hopefully).

To be more blunt, there are NO games for it, i have all the good ones, three times i've gone to a local games store and there is nothing i want to buy.

And this is coming from a Sony fanboy.

Backwards compatibility on all models and cheaper games. And a function that lets it transform into a black '69 mini

One of the major setbacks for me is, well, the games. The multiplatformers I already own for the PC or 360, and I feel like a few exclusives and a few DLC games won't be enough justification for a $300 console. If better PS3 exclusive games came out, I feel like I'd be more inclined to get one.

More, better exclusives....

They need to get more exclusives. That's the short and long of it.
This is the oldest, lamest excuse in the book. There are plenty of incredibly good exclusives for PS3 that are a lot better than 360 exclusives

Terrific PS3 exclusives:
Metal Gear Solid 4
inFAMOUS
Ratchet and Clank
Drakes Fortune 1 and 2
God of War III
LittleBIGPlanet
Resistance
Motorstorm 1 and 2
Ninja Gaiden Sigma
Fat Princess (DL)
fl0w (DL)
GT5 (DL) And the future release

I can only name a few terrific exclusives for 360:
Halo 3 (I guess)
Gears of War 1 and 2
Crackdown
Forza

I don't mean to flame, it just needs to be said.
Ok, first of all, opinions on what are good exclusives will vary, but I am just going to stick up for my system of choice and mention the following kick-ass 360 exclusives:

Mass Effect 1 and 2 (since you decided to list titles that aren't out yet I will too)
Fable II and III
Splinter Cell Conviction
Alan Wake
Halo 3 ODST
Shadow Complex (DL)

And that's not to mention games that 360 got well before PS3 like Bioshock and Oblivion.

In my opinion, 360 has better exclusives. I was a little jealous over Heavy Rain and Fat Princess... but that's not enough to get me to buy one. Neither is Final Fantasy or God of War. They're just not the type of games I like to play.

I have just about every game for the thing. I want some new ones, and by the end of the year there will be plenty.

As a fanboy with an admitted problem, I'd say an FFVII remake would do the trick.

We're not living in a dream world because most of us who complained about the controller don't give two shits about whether they change it or not. We were simply saying that it would be a good place to start if Sony wanted to make the PS3 better. Honestly, even if they did make the controllers better I still wouldn't get one. I already have an XBox and am happy with it. No reason to spend any more money.

thats one thing that will never change. and good that it dosent. I just dont like the 360 controller it feels wierd.
To each his own. It's just a difference of opinion, as I'm guessing you play primarily PS3, while I have always been a 360 gamer until the recent PS3 price drop. I do like the face buttons and the D-pad, but I'm just at a loss with the analog sticks.
Yeah I am. but yeah like what hazy said, after a couple of weeks you will get used to it.
Oh and like I asked Hazy, can you give me a quick list of your PS3 favorites? I only have Uncharted and MGS4 and need some ideas as to what my next purchase should be. It's sort of a tie between LBP and Killzone 2.
LBP, trust me, you get your moneys worth

Also, you really need to try the resistances if you like FPS's, they are far better than any FPS I've played on the 360.

Umm, in case you didn't notice.... Xbox and Sony controllers have the same amount of buttons. Making the L2 / R2 actual triggers instead of the half button / half trigger monstrosities they are now and repositioning the left analog stick will NOT require any software changes whatsoever, nor will it cause the other ones to become obsolete. God you're ignorant.
