Well, since I live in Norway, on the west coast, there aren't actually nything you can call a monument or attraction. Although the closest "monument" we have is something in Norwegian called "Kannesteinen", it is pretty epic, it's about 4 meters high. OHYEAH!

Also I live about one to two hours away from "Hornindalsvatnet", which is Europe's deepest lake at 514 meters deep, but since the surface is 53 meters over the sea level, the bottom is at 461 meters below sea level.

That's about all in my area.

Well I live 5 minutes away from the Escapist HQ. does that count?
Need a roommate?
well kinda, but its not like I go over there every day, or at all.
actually I never even driven near the building.
I wonder what they would do if I just showed up, and was like "Hi guys, I post on your forum. let me just make myself at home."
maybe its worth finding out...ill get back to you on that.
If they let you make yourself at home, im moving in with you, I dont care your opinion on the matter =D
If you send a message to John Funk, or Jordan Deam, or whoever and they say it ok if I come over and play then you may live with me.
But your sleeping on the couch...and the rent is 300$...and if im not home you have to walk my dog.
I get this strange feeling you are being serious.
You may have to wait 3 years.
well semi-serious, kinda, sorta.
If you can pull in half the rent I dont care if your ted bundy.
but why dont you ask em it'll be funny.
Id gladly move in, but im only 15 ;o.. And im in sweden.

OP: I live in America if thats what your getting at.
America isnt a monument, allthough they do enjoy making monuments.
It is the greatest country in the world (he says behind clenched teeth), surely that is enough to make it a monument, to the pompous nature, that is portrayed in the media, that is America.

I live in rural Westmeath in the middle of Ireland.

I don't even think there is any famous monuments in Ireland!
Ireland!?

You have slipped up Furburt, now I am one piece of information closer to finding you, and shutting you down.

You won't be making terminators for much longer!
..You really need to check his profile. And send me your avatar in full size.
Actually, this is the size I got it in, but maybe you could find it larger if you used the google.

The closest thing to a 'monument' we have in Ohio is Cedar Point, possibly, the Rock 'n Roll Hall of Fame, both of which I live near.

Define well known. Because I live about 20 minutes away from the largest Whaling mueseum in the world, but it's not really well known worldwide.

If we are gonna get technical, I live around 50 miles away from the Boston Harbor and that has some National prestige in America at least for a famous tea dumping.

I live in Southampton, England. Both the Queen Elizabeth 2 and the Titanic first set of here, but that's not really a monument.

I live about 20 miles away from the iron bridge which is called that becuase it was the first bridge made out of iron. There are castles, cathedrals and other things that are closer to me.

An hour away from the CN Tower, which until last week was the tallest operating free-standing building in the world. And about half-hour from Rockstar Toronto, which is actually a half-hour outside of Toronto.

Otherwise, there's plenty of historical sites in my town, but nothing known worldwide.

I live in British Columbia Canada. I'm close to Vancouver where we have mountains for snowboarding. The Olympics are on those mountains. If it has to be man made than its probably the space needle in Seattle a few hours south.

You have the kissing stone right?
And that huge dome where the light passes through it perfectly only on one day at a specific time?

Which city do you live in?

Sounds like you might be close to me.
