Pretty much but if you and others do actually make some sports threads without being repetitive and spamming them and then ask the people in charge you might have a case but at the moment there is not enough interest in it or rather shown interest. You could also make a sports group if you want and there is not one there.C. Cain said:That's a good point, really. I should've asked why there's no dedicated anime forum, might've been more popular.lunncal said:Although I'm sure there are quite a few gamers on this site who like sports, I'm also sure that there are quite a few more gamers who like, I don't know, anime for example. Yet we don't have dedicated sections for that either.
So all we have to do is flood the Off-topic Discussion with tonnes of sport related threads and be petulant while we're at it?Glademaster said:That is the point of off topic forum. The only reason Religion and Politics gets its own thing is due to the fact that people here think they can talk about those subjects which they can't as it just devolves into flamewars. This is also why it has its own section.![]()
Yeh thatSL33TBL1ND said:This is a gaming forum, so if you want to talk about sports, you go to off topic. Simple.
Oh, I'm not petitioning for one. If there's no demand for one then I'm fine with that. It's just that the trifecta of "Off-topic Discussion", "Religion and Politics" and "Sports Talk" (or something along those lines) are usually regular parts of even specialised forums.Glademaster said:Pretty much but if you and others do actually make some sports threads without being repetitive and spamming them and then ask the people in charge you might have a case but at the moment there is not enough interest in it or rather shown interest. Well you have to remember we are on a Gaming forum where I dare say a good few of the members would have had negative experiences in this particular subject.C. So it kind of raised my eyebrow not to see anything sports related at all on here.
Yes, I should have considered this a bit more carefully. But as I mentioned earlier, it's just the prevalence of dedicated sports sections on other forums that made me take notice.SirBryghtside said:We don't really do sub-forums here. The only ones we have either have vastly different rules/user-bases (Advice forum, Forum Games, R&P) or are dedicated to something that everyone here should be into (gaming).
I mean, we don't have Animé, Science, TV, Movies, Literature... why would we have one dedicated to sports?
Ha, true enough.Glademaster said:Well you have to remember we are on a Gaming forum where I dare say a good few of the members would have had negative experiences in this particular subject.
So there seems to be a broad agreement that it's the lack of demand rather than a lack of an opportunity that prevents the introduction of a sports forum. Sounds reasonable enough.Jadak said:Purely a matter of demand. The off-topic section covers anything that doesn't have it's own section, and if there's a large and consistent number of threads of a specific topic being made within the off-topic, then maybe someone will deem it appropriate to give it it's own section.
Personally, couldn't care less. No interest in sports and I don't look at the forum sections anyways, only threads I look at are the ones in the "recent comments" feed that sound interesting.
