The abilty to skip dialoge, or atleast make some interesting dialoge. I hate haveing to mash the next button over and over in the begging, it's like Game Freak thinks this is everyones first poke'mon game it was fine in the first but I don't need the intro every damn game!

EDIT: Also I want the abilty to not have the old guy thats always in the next town show me around. I know whats the store and whats the pokemon center. STOP HOLDING MY GODDAMN HAND! Thats a huge turn off for me in games.

All I ask is for a Stadium 3.

With all the monsters (including the new B/W ones), and you can take on any regions gym leaders, and more mini games.

You begin as the champion of your region, One day, you receive a call from your friend, a champion in a neighboring region, asking for assistance. According to him, there is an organization spreading throughout his region, who hold the belief that humans should not master pokemon as they have. They believe humans are like slave drivers, and those who retain control over pokemon must be punished. This changes things up from the usual ?Small-town kid who just got his first Pokemon? routine, and it gives us a main villain team who doesn?t just want to take over/destroy the world.

You begin your adventure with three starters instead of one. Since you?re already champion, you could start the game choosing your three from a pool of six pokemon (your ?championship team,?) and you?d begin your adventure. In order to balance this, the starters wouldn?t be extremely strong.

Additionally, each gym is legitimately hard, as opposed to the current ones that you can completely sweep with one well-leveled pokemon. The gyms in this game won?t simply be milestones to show how far you?ve gotten in the main story. They will exist in a fashion similar to raid bosses in World of Warcraft -- you?ll need to level your team well, and set a strategy up in order to face them.

Lastly, gyms will be based on strategy, not type. The gyms will have themes such as ?One-Hit KO,? ?Annoyers,? ?Spikers,? etc.

Hopefully that wasn?t tl;dr. Okay, thoughts?
wow what did you do copy this from the wiki site, this is pretty much the setup for the game and i heard about it 2 months ago, so what now you get to brag it was your idea? you = phail

You know, I also wouldn't mind revisiting certain regions. Maybe going back to Hoenn with a few new ways to explore the environment. One of my favorite things about G/S/HG/SS is going back through Kanto and seeing Red and Blue again. I think I'm the only one on planet earth who likes Blue. :p

I also hope they keep Pokeathalons in the upcoming games. Those are actually fun, and FAR superior to contests IMO.

I wasn't really trying to write persuasively. If anything, I'm responding. Mainly, I'm looking for ideas from those for whom the series has lost its spark (of which I am not one.)

By making good games again which they've done the moment they released Diamond and Pearl (Third generation was bad IMO)

The setup for B/W? Not really. Upon going back and checking, the thing with the villain team is the same (which I am stoked about,) but as far as I can see, that's where the similarities stop. I'm pretty sure you don't start as a champion, the gyms are still type-based, you get one starter, and I think the gyms are incorporated into the storyline again.

A while ago, some fans got together and set up a sprite-based Pokemon MMO. It had no storyline, but the general setup was there. Eventually, Nintendo shut it down for massive and obvious copyright infringement.

It was a sad day. :p

Probably the only way to get me to buy another Pokemon game (the last one I had was Silver)would be to give me the option to be a complete and total bastard to everyone and everything in game. I don't mean just snide comments or kicking the occasional passerby in the shins to start a battle, I mean flat out ordering my team to attack the enemy TRAINER instead of their pokemon, making THEM "faint", then using my pokeballs to steal their pokemon away for myself. And then rummage through their stuff for extra items and money. And then leave them naked in the middle of a field of tall grass.

Really all you'd have to do is make it take longer for stolen pokemon to warm up to you and willingly listen to your orders. It'd be especially fun if the so far nonexistent police force would come after you and initiate large pokemon battles in an attempt to bring you to justice.

More variety in Starters (other types, maybe more than three choices), introducing a Light-type to fix the balance issue with the Psychic-Dark-Fighting (making poison weak to Psychic threw off most grass-types, which threw off the entire elemental spectrum, which is the core of the weakness balance), revamping the elemental system (and allowing for more interesting type mixes), incorporating some real-time combat (or at least shake up the turn-based formula, the turn based combat has become incredibly stale), give the Pokemon six move slots (four for attacks, two for buffs because it's hard to beat the Elite Four without the strongest moves at your command unless you grind like crazy), and removing some of the grind.

Any of these would be nice, but I'm under no illusions. I'll still love playing Pokemon, but it will never really be a big thing for me again, they aren't improving themselves between games, and sometimes the later games are worse than earlier versions, which shouts laziness, overconfidence, a fear to innovate, or all three.

EDIT: And would it kill them to have more story than "You are a prepubescent kid who wants to make cute little animals beat each other to death until the get big and mean and you get famous"?

I cant really think of anything. The pokemon games have always been entertaining enough for me. Maybe more things to do after you beat the final fights (elite 4, red, etc). Like you can unlock different areas or fight harder opponents.

In a nutshell, yes. The opportunity to join Team Rocket and whip those pansies into shape would be a nice touch too... plus then you'd have back-up for those police encounters.

Make it feasible to specialise in 1 type, like a fire type trainer. Make the trainer have stats that effect the pokemon allowing for more on the surface depth to training. Redo the EV/IV system to be more than a tangled mess of numbers and grind.
Pokemon specialisation so that pokemon could be more differing, train a pikachu to be strong, train another to be fast. I know there are mechanics in place to allow this but I want an overhaul to make it more fun and easier to understand.

Can't wait for B/W though.

There?ve been a lot of Pokemon threads as of late... thought I?d get in on the action. :)

Whether you love the current iterations of the Pokemon games or you hate them, you have to agree that the series? basic formula has gotten stale. While the new games are enjoyable, the series is not aging as gracefully as it could.

So what, in your opinion, does the next Pokemon game need to have/be in order to turn the franchise around for you? What would it need to do in order to ?win you back,? so to speak? This can be anything from a graphics enhancement to a complete overhaul of the series.

Personally, I?d like to see a complete break from the old formula (Get starter from professor, beat five gyms, beat an evil organization, beat four more gyms, beat elite four, etc.) Here?s my idea:

You begin as the champion of your region, One day, you receive a call from your friend, a champion in a neighboring region, asking for assistance. According to him, there is an organization spreading throughout his region, who hold the belief that humans should not master pokemon as they have. They believe humans are like slave drivers, and those who retain control over pokemon must be punished. This changes things up from the usual ?Small-town kid who just got his first Pokemon? routine, and it gives us a main villain team who doesn?t just want to take over/destroy the world.

I like your idea about making the gyms harder, not sure how i feel about your story thought, tbh, I would just really like to be able to go between the regions like you could in gen 2, and make the gyms harder.
