I ended up finding my old SNES Power Rangers game which I know I had beaten when I was 5. I tried playing it today (I'm 19 now) and I only just got through 3 levels.
Anyway, question is... Have you ever rediscovered an old game that you played to death as a kid and totally mastered... Only to pick it up now and fail more than anything?
Altered Beast.

What a mofo hard game.
Never heard of it!
What platform?
It was on the Sega Megadrive. (And is on the Sega Megadrive collection for 360 and PS3)

It was a great game, you play as a nameless guy who, for some reason, kills blue dogs and gains the ability to morph into some form of monster. First level is a Warewolf, second is a Dragon, third is a Bear. I've never gotten past the third level, it's impossible I tell you.
How strange... But I'm really intrigued!
I may be cheap and get a ROM or something, hah.

The simpsons - Bart vs the space mutants.

I played it alot when I was a kid (like 7 years old), and finished it many times (maggie's sucker thing is radioactive and can power a power plant, Who knew?).

I tried to play it again recently and I could not get pass the first level

Before anyone starts going nuts. It is LEGAL to own an emulator and ROM provided you have said console and game, if not, then you are only legally allowed to have the Emulator and ROM for 24 hours, before it becomes illegal to own.

Just in case people start going on about the illegal-ness of your intentions.

Yeahhh ahaha. Heart of Darkness. Took me well over 2 months as a kid to figure it out. I haven't been able to get past it, on and off playing for the last year.

Also, I guess kind of on topic, I had a hairline fracture in my forearm (dunno what that bone is called) and I kept getting out of casts. They put a cast on up to my shoulder, and somehow I still managed to get it off. Nobody knows how I did it to this day, and fuck do I remember!

Sypro 3, Crash 3, Croc.

I played all those games full to the very full completion precentage. These days Spyro 3 can still be done with some patience, Crash 3 gets hard around the time the game asks me to do those bloody levels with no light in them, or those future levels with those pain-in-the-arse converyor belts! Croc is balls to the wall diffcult, I can't even finish it anymore.

I suck pretty hard.

Yeah, Burnout 3 Takedown. When the game came out I played it for years. Its been years since, i played it at an old friends house and sucked at it terrably for a while, then i finaly got the hang of it... untill we got bored an played crash mode.

The same happend with SSX Tricky, too many years of SSX 3 spoiler me i guess.

I fondly remember Megaman X as the video game that taught me how to game properly. I also vaguley remembered my hands cramping on occasion, but didn't think too much about it when I dusted off my old SNES and put the Megaman cartridge in the slot.

Most pokemon games. I'm stuck on Pokemon red because I can't find one of the gym leaders.

How the HELL did I manage this when I was six?!

Batman Returns for the NES...how the hell was I able to do all that?
That's the only game I can think of right now, but I'm sure there are more if I tried playing them all.

The original UT. I used to be able to play it on Godlike with no effort, but these days struggle on normal (damn console fps killing my mouse eye coordination).

Old school Prince of Persia, and DOOM (I've been spoiled by games where you can, you know...jump...). Also, I realised that, as I've grown up, I've completely lost the childish wonderment that is adventure-game logic. oO Yeah, apparently I'm a lot less creative than I used to be.
Doom for me too. I don't know why but there's something about that game that makes it unimaginably hard if you don't play it in forever.
