That's got to be the biggest 'fan service' I've ever seen.
wrong THIS is the biggest fanservice you've ever seen.

I think the animation team had more guys than girls.

If you don't like anime PATTY WILL MURDER YOUR GIRAFFE!!!!!
<youtube=Gp4iHb3QAWs>
*the scene has been edited to only focus on Patty so that's why it's so choppy near the end.*

Eh Im not really a fan per say but I do like the style like you said. It reminds me of the old shows cartoon network had back in the day.

Its basically "What if Japan made a cartoon?"

anime eyes-how'd i get dragged into this?
simpons-they have big eyes because it's easier to animate. they spend hours doing this, it'd be easier if it were a big circle with a black dot in the center. same thing for family guy. in anime, there's like, 20 little multi-colored circles inside an box with an arched top. not only does that look impossible to draw frame after frame, but god, it's become so trademark. all anime looks the same like that.

and you're just confusing eye size with squinting. i'd be sneering all the time too if i were a lonely bartender or an evil corporate, um, guy.
Again, there are plenty of darker, more cynical anime characters with smaller eyes and, in many cases, black dots for pupils. Eyes are expressive, animation's gonna use this to convey characterization.

Also, while The Simpsons may be easier to animate, it's at least as much a stylistic choice (hell, cheaper animation sometimes lends itself to style sometimes; Chuck Jones did this quite a lot).

I find that no matter the genre, no matter the show, I have one recurring thing with most japanese animation; I can't usually figure out what the hell is going on.
This is partially due to dwelling on details that were probably meant to be ignored, like why the pilot's suit for a giant robot has to be brightly colored mo-cap suit, having them stand in the robot's chest (center mass, by the way, not being a point of great safety with enemy robots shooting tank-sized lasers at you) where they're easily bumped around every time it's hit.

Incidently, this kind of overanalysis is what ruined Uncharted 1 and 2 for me.

Up into recently, I completely avoided anime entirely. I am into western animation, Looney Tunes, Pixar, the DC animated universe. When I saw the japanese market, I only saw Naruto knock offs, pokemon rip offs, and porn so disturbing I never even dare to search images on Google without safe search being on strict. That said, I recently been beginning to change my attitude. I watched Death Note, and found a deep, complex story that questioned morality, trust, and becoming what your trying to fight. Of course I blew off my interest, saying this has to be the exception to the rule, it is so different then the rest of anime. Then I came across the Kirby anime (subbed, dubbed was just annoying) and I was drawn in by the unique world, the underlying complexity, and the interesting characters. I then reassured myself that again, this anime is so far removed from all other anime in terms of style.

Then I came across Soul Eater, a show that embodies and uses every, single, anime, cliche', EVER, yet shows how it all can be done RIGHT.

I am starting to test the water, I will tell you if I get devoured.

yeahhhhhh......i think anime wins big time over what we have.
love elfen lied ^^

On Topic:
when i was younger i was more into disney, the western cartoon... but as ive grown i have become fond of anime :) Naruto, bleach, Fairy tail, Elfen Lied, Full Metal Alchemist, and a whole lot more.. imo its just more mature in some points, like in naruto, you grow to love characters but sometimes they die... like in real life :) and... also they have cooler battles ^^... and they got NINJA'S!

also got a bit of advertising going on here, but if you dont know where to get your fav anime or discover new ones.... the BIGGEST DATABASE of anime's so far ive come across http://www.anime-access.com/anime

I will tell you what I told Dan. (If you don't know who I mean, that's fine.)

Anime is something to be celebrated by those who love animation. Because maybe you're a guy who grew up on things like GIJOE and Transformers and Thundercats, cartoons that were a cut above others. And maybe you look at the cartoons of this age and scoff because they're just not as good in ANY aspect that made the classics good. And then...you look at anime, and you realize..."You know, this is probably what I want right now. This is good.".

The only anime I can really say I've enjoyed is Cowboy Bebop.

Thus I dislike anime, as Cowboy Bebop is as far away from anime as you can get without calling it western animation.

I don't feel anything about Anime. It isn't my thing.

However, I did watch Digimon when I was younger(if that counts).

EDIT: Also, the Anime fanbase around where I live are beyond my capabilities to socially interact with, so I think my disinterest is for the better.

I don't feel like answering that question. I like quality storytelling regardless of the medium. If it happens to be anime, so be it.

i love the fact that i can have a normal conversation with you on the topic of anime without having to deal with someone who's gonna get up in arms and ready for a flame war the second i dis naruto for being dumb.

yes, you do have a point, eye shape leads to characterization over time. like the hero i assume would have normal eyes and the nerd companion who makes the hero look good has squinty eyes from staring at the computer screen for days on WoW.

now who's chuck jones? sounds mildly interesting
