I know, I've read almost all of them. BUT KENTAURO MIURA IS SO SLOW! Good god I swear the sun will go out before he finishes that damn series....
Yeah, he is taking his sweet time. But when you consider how richly detailed the art is, it's not too surprising that the new chapters take a while.

I haven't been too impatient about it since I'm not digging the Fantasy arc as much as the previous ones: I don't like what Kentaro has done to Farnese's character and I'm not a fan of the Berserk armor either.

Had this long haitus happend during the "Sacrifice" chapters (you know the one I mean), I would've gone insane with anticipation.
I dont mind what hes doing about Farnese, but it feel like the story is turning into "filler". I'm wondering if he at some point just lost it and decided "fuck the story, I'm just gonna write crazy stuff till people stop buying it". The story was much more focused before imo. It has sort of gotten completely out of hand...

I think the armor is kick ass :p and the latest issue 316 or so was pretty damn awesome, but I wish he could get on with it. I'd take a little less detail for a little more story tbh :|

Ehh... I don't like it. I'm open to persuasion, but, at this point, I don't see myself ever watching anything that I haven't watched as a kid (AKA Pokemon, Digimon).

I don't know, I liked Farnese a lot more when she was batshit insane :)

As for the "filler", I think it has more to do with the fact that there's a whole group of people traveling with Guts now and all of them need their due screentime (which is handled very well). This might make it seem unfocused, but there have been a few very important moments. Like the appearance of the woman Godhand (can't remember her name) in the physical world. And also the chapter with that little boy with the long black hair they meet on the beach.

But yeah, the "edge" has sorta been taken off for the moment. Maybe after the whole "torture and inquisition" story, Kentaro felt the need for something more lighthearted? If only for his own sanity.

And concerning the armor; I always loved the fact that Guts didn't have any super powers. He was just a highly skilled swordsman with an unbreakable will. But with the inclusion of the Berserk armor, all of a sudden he gets his own deus ex machina, just like in Naruto and Bleach. Not that I have anything against those two series, but Berserk always seemed to be above that sort of thing.

Anime is awesome.

Anybody who says otherwise deserves a punch to the face, then can expailn why.

In that order.

OK I think I'm torn here. I watch animes like Bleach and FMA:B, but I don't exactly go bonkers if I don't go a week without watching them. Anime in my opinion is actually not the exact same or even close. People say that they look the same with gigantic human reactions and the same basic principle, but I like to disagree.

As much as Otakus have a stereotype, so does anime itself. People consider all anime to have a flowing storyline, basic character designs (Main character, the only-one-who-can-save-the-world type, romance character, rival, etc.), and overdone action scenes. But while they do have that, it's not just anime A. and B. while that's the same, it's like the formula for Left 4 Dead moving into Left 4 Dead 2. They took something that worked really well and added on more stuff. That's anime for you.

Animes like Lucky Star actually have no theme, but people still assume that just because shows like Kekkaishi and Bleach seem the same, they have their own characters (not character designs) and their own way of doing things. Anime is something I love for this, because I have yet to see an anime that is anymore than a slight copy of another. This is my opinion on the matter and if you disagree then good for you, but I stand by my point *Puts up Flame-Shield X*.

EDIT: Uhp, forgive me I just realized I forgot to mention Bo-Bobo! Screw all my personal arguments when it comes to this anime--I have seen no such anime like Bobobo-Bo Bo-bobo in a looooong time. It's random, funny, and it seems that the developers put friendly fire into the minds of the fighting characters in the show. Little fact for you concerning my avatar: It's Don Patch (aka Papa Rocks) from Bo-Bobo pissed because no one wants to buy/take/eat/try a churro.

Yeah I get what you mean, but as "realistic" as Berserk has been there is a limit to what a human body can accomplish. And since the monsters are getting bigger and stronger by the second...well Gatts has to evolve in some way as well.

I find the armor to be a nice fit, after all it is a great power that is well balanced. He is losing his mind when using it, and his body breaks under the pressure. Its not simply a "flame on" if you will.

I guess I am just mad that Kentaro focuses so much on the others. The main draw to me has always been Gatts and his relationship with Caska/Griffith. At the moment that is moving forward like snails in syrup...

I'm actually re-reading Berserk for the third time now and it's weird how you forget small yet very important details in the story.

Like when Griffith is reborn in the physical world and he confronts Guts near Rickert's home. Griffith saves Caska from falling rocks and when he flies away on Zodd there's a slight pain in his chest or shoulder. The cause for this hinted as to be because he was in contact with Caska. And since the vessel he now inhabits was the demon fetus aborted by Caska, Caska might be the only one who can defeat him.

I completely forgot about this the first 2 times I read Berserk, but it stuck now.

I despise anime.

It's too over-the-top about everything, I dislike the art style, and christ, some of the fans can be a bunch of pricks. Not all of them, but it does seem to attract the snobby 'I'm so alternative, what you like is so common and therefore shit' crowd quite a lot.

I guess it's a fair comment to say I just don't 'get' anime.
Unless it's pokemon. Fucking Pokemon, man! Everyone loves pokemon.

I into One Piece quite a lot.
And I just watched Akira for the first time.

There's probably a few more I'd like but that's it really.

90% of it is awful. 10% is good - just like every other genre of entertainment on the planet.
it is the same thing except there aren't kids who dress up as leonardo dicaprio when they go to see inception. no wait, i was wolverine for x-men 3, nevermind
If people did more dressing up as characters they liked, the world would be a better place. :D

Plus, don't forget all the Jedi that attend Star Wars premiers...
oh hell yes, i would feel SO at home if i could walk around like Doctor Who without any weird glances

I used to be into it in middle school, which is why i had no friends. then i grew out of in in late freshman year and realized how gay i was for being so into naruto. i mean come on, it's cool that they're ninjas, but they don't do it like the ninjas from the awesome 80's ninja movies, they're like technicolor ninja kids.

then when i went back to my home high school where all the kids i knew from middle school went plus a lot of other kids, i was a changed person. it took me a year, but i'm now right where i should be; in the video gamer clique, which is pretty damn big. halo reach and monster, you know it. so now i stay from anime because the anime/otaku group at my school is GAWD UGLY. i mean, if you show any communication with these kids, you're labeled "one of them". there's fat hidious and annoying goth girl, a super quirky asian kid who wears the same coat everyday, this one freaky black kid who looks like an evil bob marley, and then some other kids unwanted by society.

lastly, on halloween, my girlfriend went some 3-day anime convention instead of hang out with me );

so that's how i see it; not only does it make you unwanted by society but it also got in the way of my relationship. fuck you naruto.

pokemon is still the shit though, never forget that.
And another one is lost to the slavery of following societal norms.
Learn to be who you are, I was the one guy in highschool who interacted with every clique and had friends from every walk of life. People pick up on when you're trying to fit in and not being yourself.

Learn to bring things up when they are appropriate. Talk about anime with the anime kids, talk about vidya gaems with the gamers, talk about sports with the athletes. When you learn to separate and compartmentalize the different aspects of your life you can fit in in a lot of places without stifling who you are.
no, dude, i'm waaaaay past that. i have more friends now than i ever have in my entire life all because i quit anime, and i'm SO glad i did. i'm no slave, if anything, the master. i know how society and cliques work, and i know how to manipulate them and maneuver them.
you must of been lucky to have a school that has the cliques so well meshed. my high school is very clique oriented (and also pretty small).
here's how my school works;

____xX*DISCLAIMER, YOU DON'T HAVE TO READ THIS NEXT PART, BUT FEEL FREE.*Xx_____

--there's the large group of black kids who come from out of district, close to detroit area. it feels weird b/c our school is in a quiet suburb, but parents from out of district rent or buy a lot in our district just so their kids can go here. that's probably the most seperated of the cliques. mainly b/c they all live way outisde the community, so none of them know any of the kids from the 2 major middle schools that go to the high school
--there's the cool kids, which is a lot of kids. almost all of them do at least one sport or activity. within this group there's still some separation but hardly any, just friends amongst friends.
--there's the band kids. and i don't mean the marching bands kids, these 5 guys made a screamo band called AS ATLUS FALLS. they're actually pretty good. me and some other dozen kids bought their t-shirt, it looked sick. these kids blend excellently with the cool kids. except for their lead guitarist (he's kinda out there, but not completely) and their old keyboardist (who had a falling out with the band for some personal reason, his life's also a train wreck thanks to his excessive pot use. a lot of kids at my school do pot, but he let his life go b/c of it)
--there's my group (N3RD L1F3, WH4T WH4T?!?!?) we're a large group, we play halo, drink monster, and have fun together. code monkey loe fritos......code monkey love tab and mountain dew.....code monkey very simple man, with warm fuzzy secret heart.... code monkey like you......code monkey like youuuuuuu
--there's my other group (my closer friends, it's like, 2-3 people i've known for a long time) i'm working very hard to get them to be more accepted into the 1337 group, they'd have a blast and feel so much better. if only sean wouldn't analyze everything and nolan wouldn't be so damn stubborn and a little more socially active. (one time at lunch, when some of the other guys are going on this hilarious rant, i tell nolan to check this out, so then he starts to tell this one hot chick at the table (who he doesn't even know) about how i was in middle school with the whole naruto crap i was into. i was SOOOOO embarased, when i chewed him out he said "jake, it's no big deal, i feel offended" i was like "YOU FEEL OFFENDED? WHAT THE FUCK? HOW DO YOU THINK I FEEL?!?!?!" but i digest)
--now there's the real band kids. only a couple of them are seniors, one already being in our nerd group, another is the drummer from the scremo band, and the other well, he's special (BUT NOT TOO SPECIAL), and no one picks on him b/c he's trying, and we all love him for that. plus, you'd look like the biggest asshole to pick on micheal, he wouldn't hurt a fly. the rest of the band kids are, for the most part, pretty normal outside of band, but it's still like any high school; the band kids are kind of thier own clique, sort of.
--finally, there's the otakus, at the bottom of the food chain. these kids have no idea how to fit in normally with everyone else, and they show it to. they'll be doing the dumb naruto hand signs, and reading manga when we're trying to do a group project (which is extremely rude). this one girl, as ugly as she is slow, does nothing but draw anime. every seminar, draws anime. every lunch, draws anime, during class, draws anime. i understand that spirited away got an academy award and there was that one stuff animal from Toy Story 3 that was from that same movie, but jesus christ, it's life consuming for these people, it's scary. there's some more kids disperesed in there, and they all stand out.
-lastly, there's clark. we call him zero b/c he looks like zero from holes (except 4936 times creepier) he's super weird and has no excuse like a mental hadicap or w/e, he's just weird. he smells bad to. he's also ANNOYING. and the girl that's always drawing anime? thats his sister. he was voted homecoming prince, it was HILARIOUS, i feel so bad for the pretty girl who had to walk with him onto the football field at the homecoming game.

____xX*OKAY, DONE.*Xx_____

anyway, the cliques at my school are very separated because of such a low population (200 in my grade alone) we actually have the lowest population in our area. so as you can imagine, with a smaller population the kids are more well connected which makes cliques stronger. when you combine that with such a groups of kids.

i went to a school freshman year where there were no cliques, very nice, meet a ton of freinds there that i still see almost everyday (my GF goes there to :D so glad i went there!) then i moved back to my home high school and saw, well, what you see above.

thank you for your concern, and you're absolutely right, be what you are and let people accept that for what you are. (unless your in my case when what you are is gonna get you killed and you wanna be over in that other group over that way instead.)

And I went as a Death Eater/Dementor (just a black robe, served both purposes) for the OotP movie and final book; it was better received at the book release.

I'd like to know when they will realised western eyes aren't that large.
Actually, a lot of what determines eye size is a pretty basic innocent/seedy dichotomy that you see in western animation; in The Simpsons, many of the characters have bug-eyes while Moe and Mr. Burns are beadier, and in many a shonen series the idealistic young hero has big eyes while older, more cynical characters are also beadier.

Really, I think the only animated series that don't do this are the ones that go for outright realistic character designs (i.e King of the Hill).
nice, just make sure you're not the only one walking into the theater dressed up, i made that mistake once.

anime eyes-how'd i get dragged into this?
simpons-they have big eyes because it's easier to animate. they spend hours doing this, it'd be easier if it were a big circle with a black dot in the center. same thing for family guy. in anime, there's like, 20 little multi-colored circles inside an box with an arched top. not only does that look impossible to draw frame after frame, but god, it's become so trademark. all anime looks the same like that.

and you're just confusing eye size with squinting. i'd be sneering all the time too if i were a lonely bartender or an evil corporate, um, guy.

I like most, but I tolerate those I don't like. I usually watch the more action ones, and avoid school life one like the plague.

Beats public TV and movies out of the park in my opinion, just can't beat games.

I love anime. It pretty much the only thing that entertains me now. They all cover different genres, and appeal to all ages groups. Even haters may find at least one anime they can be fond of. I usually prefer them over American cartoons because the majority of American cartoons are either kids shows, CG, or really raunchy adult comedies shows. Not to say that I don't like American shows, there are a lot of them I love, but I feel that anime has more variety.
