No. It simply doesn't appeal to me. I don't hate it, but I don't love it either. Sometimes I watch it with friends and voice over it with stupidity, but the one who does that the most also likes anime.

Studio Ghibli and Cowboy Bebop are about as far down the rabbit hole as I'm willing to go. No offense to anybody present, but the fanbase has repelled me from getting into it.
I understand your pain. Some of the fanbase makes me ashamed to say I like anime. The way they act...ugh. It just irks me. Granted, I haven't watched anything in over 6 months.

Anime is an awesome genre, however it is not perfect. If you watch anime long enough you will begin to notice similarities; like current Naruto or Bleach battles have this odd resemblance to DBZ. Many main characters are living their normal lives in Highschool and suddenly EVERYTHING changes due to a mystical battle and they cant return to their normal life anymore (sad =[) or they are like 12 with the mental stability of a 30year old adult or ... you get my point

sounds familiar?

Main hero is in a pickle> Main hero gets mad (for some reason) > Main hero awakens some sleeping power that will make him OWN the bad guy>new stronger bad guy appears >rinse & repeat...

Other animes like Mushishi, Elfen Lied, Lain and Clannad have depth in their stories, once an anime has that, forget it, it goes straight to my 'A' list!

Well...some animé I love, like Trigun, Hellsing, Berserk, some of the Studio Ghibli films and a few other things. Others I loathe, like Tenchi Muyo and various other things people have told me are amazing.

I figure animé is not really a genre in itself, as it's full of sub-genres. Most animé either bores or irritates me, much like with hollywood films, or any other media. I'm very critical.

I prefer the ultraviolent anime of the 80s that were released during early 90s under the Streamline label. Most recent anime I liked was Appleseed Ex Machina, but that was due to the well done CGI animation (also helps the CG is consistent through the entire movie, CG + normal animation is woefully obvious on screen at once).

All that harem anime from the 90s pretty much turned me off to the whole genre.

Jackie Chan Adventures had some of the best fighting animations I have ever seen, and that was a western cartoon, with humor that wasn't hit or miss due to translation like most anime.

Give me Hong Kong action over anime any day. High octane martial arts or tragic crime drama is what draws my attention these days. Anime just cannot compete with actors with real talent.

I like most anime I watch, which makes it much better than american cartoons, for me, of which i can tolerate exactly 0. Also better than live action series in most cases. for some reason, I don't usually like anime movies, the one execption being mononoke hime.

I like anime. What I hate, however, is people who generalize, and blow off the entire medium because of the trends in some or most anime.

I like it a lot, but it bothers me that in every anime ever there's only like 2 or 3 main characters.

They're magical stripper angels who are crusading against magical stripper demons(and ghosts)

I sorta like the show cuz I like the whole mixing anime with cartoony animation.

Isn't this like asking how I feel about books, or movies?

90% of it is awful. 10% is good - just like every other genre of entertainment on the planet.

I think the reason so many western audiences have opened up to anime is because western animation has always... kinda sucked.

Yeah sure, you have Toy Story and Mickey Mouse, but when considering all the "kid shows," PDA's, He-Man rip-offs, and otherwise poorly thought out channels (I'm looking at you, Adult Swim!), Anime looks like a gold mine compared to the otherwise latrine that is Western Cartoons.

I like it a lot. As long as you look into it slightly you rarely run into one you won't like. Not to mention it covers things that most other mediums won't even touch.

It really is too bad that so many people dislike it without having ever looking past the popular shows because there is almost literally a show that anyone can enjoy as long as they look

I love it, I have more anime than I have time to watch on my hard drive, I paint it on my forza cars, and I roleplay as anime characters on another forum.

(those are my first two by the way, I've improved since then.)
