This one kid in my class isn't coming to school tomorrow so he can play halo reach. He told me that he was going to the midnight release and his parents said he would be too tired to go to school afterward so they're going to lie about him being sick so he'll get perfect attendance while he's skipping class.I think his family is probably retarded.Or just really awesome.

I wish I could, but with all my honors classes, I CAN'T miss a day or I'd be royally screwed.
OT: Someone at my school is doing the same, and taking a week or 2 off and writing it off as being sick. We got a bet to see how long he's gone.

Well, sometimes parents are just cool like that.
One day wont hurt him that much.
And he will still haft to make up any work her misses.

Now, if then happens a lot then yea, his parents are retarded.

Definitely the first option. His family should be making him get his priorities straight, not encouraging him.

along the rest of the parents who buy their kids rated M games for their kids and then go off saying that video games are bad like all parents do

Ummm maybe his parents are relaxed and don't consider the 6th day of school (approx) the most important thing. Of course the probability of that is low when compared to that of the idea of his parents being enabling idiots.

Awww dude, I find this saddening. School should always come first (unfortunately). "Too tired to go to school the next day"? That's bullcrap. If I were to do that, I'd stay up 2 days at least just playing it. >.< Although I think any avid player would as well.
All I do know is that if I were to be in that position, my parents would force me to go to school no matter what. So I could get it at midnight, but then I'd probably be forced to go to bed.

Flip that.

One day missed of playing a videogame won't kill him either.

Honestly, it's a game, get that boy to school.

Yea its just a game.
But either way it wont ruin his life forever.
Unless, like i said, this happens all the time.

I think that this is really just plain wrong. The parents should be teaching him that he has to work before he can play, and that if he's going to spend all night up, he's going to pay for it the next day by being exhausted.
I also wish I could do that.

Meh, surly isn't great but as long as it is kept within limits.

We live in a lame century, no wars or other remarkable events to break routine. I, for example, tend to take one day off, for every wow-expansion. Of course it is somewhat stupid, but you should ask yourself "Did the poeple, who went to woodstock care about what the others had to say?". Probably not. Most of them probably didn't have a job, but I hope you get my point.

Events are as special as they are to you, and if that kind and his partens see must to make a halo game so special... why burst their bubble? I would only be worried if that happend every other month.

As much as I love playing video games, I would never skip school or work to play something. I went to the midnight release for Halo 3, played the game for a solid two hours, slept for four, then worked 10 hours. Yeah probably not the smartest think I ever did but it is a night I will never forget.

Maybe he's a really good kid and he's being rewarded.
Like, he didn't exceed the monthly bandwidth watching porn all month.

Nope, his family is awesome and we are just jealous. School isn't that important, is it?

That is something I wish MY parents let me do. That beings said, it's the... what? 3rd week? Maybe?... of high school. There probably isn't that much that's going on. But if he fails, you can always use this against him.
