How is The Escapist seen by the rest of the Internet?

So, I was just thinking, with March Madness attracting a lot of external traffic, how you have seen the Escapist portrayed by other denizens of the Internet? Aside from being 'The Zero Punctuation site', The Escapist seems to be a surprisingly minor figure compared the Gamespots and IGNs of the world.

Also, to start the ball rolling on some actual evidence, I found this interesting thread [http://forums.xkcd.com/viewtopic.php?f=21&t=36655] on the XKCD forums. It seems to show The Escapist as a pretty spammy place. I would say this is wrong, but it never hurts to see what other people think of the forum we call home.

So, yes! How do you think the Escapist is seen? Also, have you got any discussions where The Escapist was the focus?

Getting this type of 'feedback' is pretty difficult, so I imagine it wouldn't change much, if at all, the status quo here.

4Chan hates us, but we hate them, so all's well there.

I don't really know how we're seen. That XKCD post seems kind of unfair, I'm sure they looked for those.

If not, then what the hell is happening to this site?

I doubt most other places know about us.

We're not self important enough to start a war with anyone or anything.

The OP is right, the escapist isn't mentioned often on other websites. I do occasionally see a link to an Escapist article on some forums though.

I don't post often on the Escapist, I'm more of a lurker around here.

Boring? Seriously? I don't take offense to this, but have they seen other forums?
I found out about the escapist because a friend told me to watch an episode of zero punctuation, but it was the There Will Be Brawl website that made me start using it because i heard it was being hosted here. :)

I'd wager we're seen as a pretentious bunch of elitists. Which isn't true, obviously, but I can certainly guess why people would misinterpret it that way.
It's because we can spell. Proper grammar and (zero) punctuation are the first signs of elitism. Just ask United States Republicans from "Middle America."

I have to admit the first thing that brought me to this site was Zero Punctuation and subsequently Unskippable.

Also uses of words like "subsequently" also makes us elitists.

I had never heard of the Escapist before I actually started coming here, and I've never heard of it since. I don't even remember how I first heard of the site; it wasn't from a friend, I know that much. Hell, not even Encyclopedia Dramatica has an article on us. I thought that LoadingReadyRun would have brought the site more publicity, but I guess not.

I remember that article but clearly the writer is jealous that he is not allowed inside our glorious walls and is most certainly not allowed near the all you can eat desert table.

Also, that was posted during last years March Madness, which was a particularly bad time for The Escapist. Thankfully, this years one is going much smoother.
Pretty much this. In my lurking I've seen a lot of posts/posters that really sound (Or read, whatever) like massive assholes, but might not have been, seeing as how I can't read minds (I wish) so I refuse to judge. I could name a few but I won't.

Well, considering the immense size of the internet, I'm going with 'largely indifferent'

There was a thread on Giant Bomb where everyone was calling us super elitist, too into games, and made fun of our moderation team for being way too harsh.

EDIT: Look at the next person.
