Well, I'm from Canada and the American and Canadian school system don't teach us much about Eastern-European countries at ALL, unless we take a world's history class. Hell America avoids the War of 1812 where we burned down their White House twice, and we avoid a lot of the things settlers did to the natives here.
That's what I thought, and I'm not condemning it. It's natural, that your entire learning material is a history of your own country, + some major events elsewhere (like French Revolution, or discovery of America in my case). But now imagine, that one of the most important happenings in the whole history of your country (in this case - let's take the battle in Vienna, since it's considered as one of our two most decisive victories in our history, besides crushing the Teutonic Order at Grunwald in 1410) just been called false by a foreigner who barely scratched the topic. That just hurts (again, I mean no offense toward blackhawk. I just want to set things straight).

I've also gotten people saying that the war of 1812 never happened. People are gonna deny things they know nothing about, it's human nature.

Who denied the war? What are you talking about? American history classes do cover the war of 1812. We have to. Also, why do Canadians always say they burned down the White House? The British did that. Canadians may have helped but the main force was not from Canada.

People online have denied it, although I'm not sure I take them 100% seriously. Not sure about how involved we were, but I know we were. They didn't teach us much about it.

My schools covered everything from Manifest Destiny and the "White Man's Burden" to pox-infested blankets and the Trail of Tears. We also did cover the war of 1812, albeit not in depth.

Though I totally wouldn't be shocked if I was atypical in learning all that.

I'm from a mother's-side family of Central Europeans (German and Polish) and a father's-side of Mexicans but I was born in America. I also have Mexican-style mustache is "haters" are to believed so probably displayed as a cross between a Pancho Villa, Kaiser Wilhelm (First not second) and Jozef Pilsudski. Argh. American melting pot eh?

There are always morons online. Don't judge a population on a few online individuals. I studied that war for quite a while and all the factors leading up to it. British soldiers were still in the colonies long after the battles with the French died down. The soldiers were still here after things went to shit and wouldn't have needed to go far. A few Canadians were involved in the burnings but that was an extremely small number and they weren't directly responsible. It was a bigger statement for the British to burn the building. Canada did not make laws for us to follow. We didn't owe a heinous amount of money to Canada, have pissy underpaid Canadian soldiers among us and Canada wasn't blocking our expansion west.

Most of our skirmishes with Canadians happened more on your turf. A few fights that didn't really amount to much. Mostly though we butted heads with the British. Which makes sense since we didn't really have a bone to pick with Canada anyway. Looking back the American colonists were being stubborn assholes, but hey patriotism was serious business. Far worse than what people whine about today.

Australia.
Well, the country is out to kill you (an exaggeration, but not entirely unfounded).
We have this weird accent that I've never heard an actual Australian speak in.

someone always has to make a reference to cheese.

My god does it gets annoying.

Also known for a drinking culture which is actually an accurate stereotype.

I can't recall any movie or show that mentions Costa Rica. I know it's been mentioned in a few books, but beyond that I have no idea.
