My first one took a minute or so to find it in my folders and it took a bit longer with my current Avatar. I had to resize it since the original gif was twice as big.

No time at all. I used the invisible pink unicorn on most of my posts on other forums - After a while I got bored of that and switched it to the Faerie. :)

Welcome to the escapist, stay out of my basement!

I had another one for a little while, which I chose directly, but as soon as I saw this one, I just had to have it!!

I picked mine in less than 1 minute, but finding a .gif that was the right size was a bigger problem.

Yep. Another thread. From me. About avatars. The irony is absolutely killing me right now. Hahaha.

Anyway, on to business. I thought about this subject when I noticed a few other users with relatively high post counts without avatars. ravensheart18 and manythings are two users that come to mind. But I have also seen, in the past, some users go from having no avatar, to having one. People whose names I recognized during the day, suddenly got their avatar.

What I'm asking is, how long did it take you to pick your avatar? How much time in days, or how many posts had you made before you got your avatar?
About as long as it takes to browse my Photobucket. I guess you're still looking yourself, right?

I've had my current one for a year or two now.
I make small changes to it every now and then.

I just looked over the avatars the escapist made avaliable, noticed the Fallout 1 power armor helmet. And since bought the trilogy pack around the same time I made this account it just seemed to fit the thing most on my mind. Fucking great games Fallout.

No time at all, Denjin HAL is probably my favourite anime villain ever, he isn't some prettied up "bishie".

I had an avatar since first post, took me about 2 minutes to choose mine in real-life time.

I'm going to change it when i reach my 100th post.

I use the same picture in a lot of places, it's on my MSN, Steam and maybe Xfire too, I think. Mass Effect representing, yo.

Nope, I've made a conscious decision to not get one. I really don't care. At first, I just didn't think about getting one. When I did think about it, I figured that finding a good unique one would be really hard, so I stopped wanting one.

It bothers some people, which amuses me greatly. Although, even though it amuses me, it ain't trollin'.

Not very long, it was already in my pic folder so I didn't have to sit and find one.

I picked my avatar like right away. I think before I even made a post, I had my xbox live avatar as my avatar. now it's Bridget and won't ever not be.

About 5 posts in, due to previous experience in other forums the only way people will pay some attention to you is if you have a avatar that differentiates you from other people. Though my pic is supposed to be a .Gif I haven't gotten that to work yet...

Since post one.

I started with Ponyo from Ponyo, followed by Heen from Howl's Moving Castle, replaced by Harima Kenji from School Rumble, substituted by Ben Katz from Dr. Katz, relieved by Boes from Boes, and finally superseded by my current avatar; The great Dutch cartoonist, Maarten Toonder.

I think I decided on it after maybe 20 posts or so. It didn't take long for me to pick which avatar I wanted either. I was a huge Heroes fan back then and I loved the picture, still do really.
