Imagine that you have been captured by a homicidal maniac.

The killer says that s/he will keep going around killing random people, and will only stop once you let the killer kill you.

So, how many people would you let die to keep yourself alive?

And this killer won't just go out and shoot someone, s/he will do it secretly, so s/he can live to kill another day. This will give you time within each killing to still stay alive.
