The avatar you see right here is the first change I've done since I first joined and that was in March 2009. Even then all I did was upgrade from a Halo 3 era Elite to a Halo: Reach era Elite.

Colors are even the same, I don't upgrade much.

I am not getting rid of Dr. Cox over there for a while.
It's too awesomely awesome for me to part with.
If you change your avatar I will kill you in your sleep! D:
That avatar cracks me up :D

OT: I change avatars in March for March Mayhem and change back, and I've only got two different avatars if that doesn't count: Ichimaru Gin waving goodbye and Nankyoku Sakura dancing.

I rarely change my avatar. I used to have a... 'shopped interpretation of Baruch Spinoza's famous portrait.

Might get a new one, though.

The fact that you are one of the few persons that know this band makes me automatically like you. Congratulations.

OT: No, I haven't changed mine, to lazy to find/create another.

Not changed my avatar on any site for quite a while-i only post here occasionally when the mood takes me to get involved in a conversation but i feel that this avatar suits my personality the best.
Road runner always copes, can smile and laugh in any situation and is just generally laid back.

I change mine every 500 posts or so. If I changed it every time I got bored, then I'd go through a new avatar every week. So I try to restrict myself. So far, I've always used Audrey Kawasaki images.

Holy fuck, a Box Car Racer fan! Been a while since I've seen one of those. Letters to God FTW.

OT: Originally had the Watchmen logo, but have since changed it to the Keywork and will be leaving it up for the foreseeable future.

It occurs to me now this topic would have been better with a poll.

Precisely how long is that in minutes.

I've changed it once which was quite recently, but this one's barely any different.

Not planning to change it again.

I used to change it a lot but ever since I found the adorable Valkyrie Princess avy, I don't think I'll change any time soon. She's too cute.

Plus, people have come to know me for my adorable avatar, so there's that to take into consideration.

I changed it to Axel a couple of hours ago. I wasn't too sure with it, but I do love him so I'll probably keep it.

So the question is escapists, how often do you change your avatar and why?
I don't change it. I think changing my avatar would defeat the entire purpose of having it.

Not much. I come from a forum where that sort of thing is frowned upon (long story) and am usually too lazy to do it anyway.
