One hilarious thing about my DVD collection is that one of the titles in it is Elfen lied and the case of it is completely pink.

I've gotten a few strange looks when people glance at it however if they say anything I just play it and let whoever is watching it enjoy mental scarring for life.

The extreme violence and gore is usually enough to shut anyone up who sits there calling it girlie DVD.
Wait a minute. Is it about the girl that literally splits apart with blood and shit going all over the place?
It's one where there is a girl with pink hair and horns and she can rip people apart and chop peoples heads off by looking at them. There is a way she does it but it would take too long to explain. Lets just say it is very graphic and there is a fair bit of nudity. There is a great story too it and some very likable characters though.

Tell them the truth.

You can say "I love this show. Its amazing." Problem solved.
Basically.

(To the OP) Believe it or not, though, that works better with really violent things (Hellsing, for example), than with childish things or things that can be considered girly. I had a real hard time getting people off my back about Lucky Star, Marimite, Kannazuki no Miko (which isn't really all that girly, but at first glance is), and more, however, I had no such problem with Death Note or others that focus on violence, action, or in the case of Judas, bastardizing Christianity.
yeah, but mainstream media and society make it seem like guys can't watch/read anything "girly" without it them being classified as gay. Thats the entire reason I hold back my want to see what the heck Fruits Basket is about.

!!FOR FUCK'S SAKE!!!

See how I got your attention and didn't fuck up English grammar at the same time?

1: There Is No Such Thing As Bad Taste. There's a lot of stylistic preference (you like Goth but not Pop, or whatever), there's a lot of nostalgia (but hands up anyone not guilty of that one), and there's a lot of conformity.
Own Up. Who Reading This Forum Hasn't Conformed At One Point Or Another?

Oh yeah I forgot, there's also a lot of cowardice.

Lots of you won't admit to being conformists - ever - even though you couldn't be anything but if you were socialised aready. Anyone here over the age of 10 years old? Right.

2: Before you all grow old, boring people with your boasts about what a rebel you were, how you knew better than most, blah blah arse arse etc., stop and think about all the times you said "No, I Don't Agree" without having to beat someone up about it?
So your ('Higher Status Person') catches you doing (Porn/American Wrestling/Foreign Culture/Cosplaying Blake's 7) - so what?? If they have a problem with that, it's their problem.

3: Although... if they have a problem about that and they can make that problem for you... like your dad is a Saudi prince with mercs on the payroll, or a fundamentalist christian with a concession ticket to a jesus camp, or who just likes to beat on people a lot, then you have problems you need to take to the police or your local Democrat representative. Right Away.

4. Where Am I Going With This?
When was the last time you thought it was OK for someone to tell someone else how to live their life and what to like?
(If you can remember that time, make sure I don't meet you anytime soon or I'll teach you what it's like to be *****-whipped.)

Oh yeah sorry Daribian, meant to say: don't be afraid of what you like, even if it actually sucks. If it sucks, you'll probably grow out of it, right?

@OP: Go with nostalgia, everyone under stands "I used to watch it when I was a kid and suddenly wanted to see it again for no reason." I told a couple of my friends that when I ordered DVDs of Sonic SatAM and the Mario Bros movie, you'd be surprised how many "OMG! I remember that, let me know when they get in!" responses you'll get.

^_^

And if that isn't enough for them, just tell them you're man enough to watch a show aimed at female adolescents without questioning you're own sexuality and if they're not perhaps they should talk with someone about their personal issues =P

Also I'd suggest watching a few eps of CCS before ordering, I was wondering how that ended a while back, since I used to watch it as a kid but, only through the first season. I got some episodes and only watched the first few before I just turned it off and never went back to it. Didn't hold up well to memories in my opinion, certainly aimed at a much younger age then I am now.

Tell them it was given to you by yourself from the future and it contains a hidden prophecy which will foretell the coming, horrific, future events.

Well, just so long as you don't have a copy of AMV Hell 0 and someone accidently runs it on your computer and watches it.

If that happens then kiss your entire social life goodbye.

....

I've got to set someone up for this!!
Oh God! I watched part of AMV Hell 0 once, I'm still scarred to this day... I remember me and my friend were watching the other AMV Hells, when we decided to download that one thinking it couldn't be that bad... We started playing it and one anime man asked another anime man if he was hungry... he sadly said yes... then it was time for corn... we watched a few more minutes... then wondering if it got worse or better later, we skipped ahead to near the end, where we saw the same two anime men... and it was asked if he was still hungry... he said yes... to which the first anime man exclaimed "MORE CORN!" We both shouted "LESS CORN! LESS CORN!" and one of us stopped the video... We both died a little on the inside that day...

HAHAHAHAHA!! I have tears coming down my face!!!

Oh man, you should've seen the rest of it...if you think that was the among the worst then you've missed a ton of fun!
We watched a little bit more than that, that's just all I really remember, it was a long time ago. Plus, over the years, we've kept a run-on-inside-joke going on about it where one of use will great each other with "MORE CORN!" and the other responds "LESS CORN!" it's hilarious mostly because nobody else knows what's going on ^_^

1. Put it somewhere else.
2. Say it is a good show and give them the book cover lecture if they persist.
3. You bought it for a friends birthday in the future.
4. You are holding on to it for a friend and gave it a shot.
5. Recommended by a friend, you gave it a shot and hated, but too lazy to throw out.

If it has boobs prominently displayed on it, you should attempt to hide it a little, make it not stand out.

Otherwise, just explain that it's an old kids show you used to watch. No big deal...

"Oh, that? Sure, it looks girly and cute. But it's really cursed, y'know, like that tape from The Ring? The pink case makes it easier to trick people into watching it. That girl on the cover may look innocent, but after watching the DVD, she comes out of your tv and destroys your soul. So put that back, and let's watch something more pleasant, like the Silent Hill movie..."

I always have one room in the house I don't let my friends in. I keep all my bitchin' stuff in there.
