there is no reason to radically change the series I think. At least not more than they have already. Every one of the games i have had a chance to play have had the same "go here" "solve this puzzle" "get gadget" "use gadget to kill boss" formula, yet they have had something to mix it up just a bit (just enough for me). Ocarina, baton, wolf form, things like that don't make the game extremely new, but they give you the feeling of seeing what you have seen already, with just a bit added on to it.

And I would dislike voice acting, since I probably couldn't name my character dirty phrases for laughs.

And the Metroid series is better!

I am fine with the Zelda series as it is, but here are just some of my ideas on this subject.
Add more weapons/shields/armors: I really want to see Link wear full plate and use a darknut sword with a tower shield, or even use a different weapon entirely, like a lance or other poll arm.
Large battles: Picture Link fighting along side a group of Hylian Knights in hyrule field against a horde of Gannon's minions.
No more Tingle: I hate him so much.
That is all I can think of.

I would make it about 20 times more difficult in all aspects. harder and more elaborate bosses, harder enemies, more complex puzzles that seem impossible at first (ala professor layton).

One Zelda game I would love to see is a time travelling one. I know I know, its been done in OOT. But I want to see a Zelda game where you go back in time to previous adventures from past links, and help them out stealthily. It is your job to leave items such as the boomerang, or hookshot in dungeons for the previous link to find, and you continue the game without it etc. thus making your travels through hyrule much more difficult. There could be a timing function, so you have to be odne before your former "self" stumbles across you. I dunno, thought it would be kinda cool (and it should stay true to each artistic style of that game). you go back into the future after each area, and the land is changed for the better, giving you missions to do in your own time blah blah blah (I could go on).

But on topic once again, why mess with a winning formula, thats like saying...Beer, I mean its good, but its been done the same for too long. Lets add raspberries!!!

I say let the people cry about it, I will contnue playing and loving each one that comes out.

What I'm tripping on is how these guys complain about Zelda being the same every time, but complained because Final fantasy 13 was too different, or don't bat an eye to the millions of identical FPS games we have now.

But on topic: I think having harder puzzles and betters bosses will save zelda. I hate how its the Go in dungeon -> get new item -> use item to attack boss 3 times formula.
i hate how that formula is used everytime too

i personally think it would be cool if you could really customize your link, so hes better defensively for blocks, or if he purely depends on his sword so if he gets hit he takes more damage, or if hes quick on his feet he can dodge better (as in stats, or stats for each body part)

i think adding on to the rpg element of it can really help change it up and make the replayability skyrocket

adding more customization with armors (armor on each body part) would also possibly be nice?

I like the way the Zelda games are now. buuuuuuut...

If I had to suggest a nice spin-off Zelda title, I have a few ideas that could work. Think for a moment; Super Mario RPG and Paper Mario. Two successful games that took a traditional platformer and turned it in to a spectacular Turn-Based RPG.

If it worked with Mario, it should be a natural fit for a Legend of Zelda game. At least for aspin-off. Swords and Magic are a constant theme in RPGs, It'd fit like a glove

Course then the question would be, who should Nintendo trust with one of it's most important I.Ps? Should they go Third Party or send it back to Intelligent Systems, the developers of the Paper Mario Series and Fire Emblem?

Right now the only thing that would make me come back to LoZ games for more than a weekend rental would have to be a change in the story, same as any Mario game. Not completely, but maybe something that didn't involve saving the princess. I know it's "classic" and they've always done it, but that's why I would like to see something different.

Sorry Link, your Spazztic is in another game.

I have an idea. Stop making spin offs of the same game.

I love me some LoZ, but it is the same game over and over...same goes for mario. Minus his whoring to minigames (golf, kart, e.t.c.)

I would love it if they could do something in the same universe of LoZ, but for me it's getting boring. Although if they take a new take on it, i.e. Twilight princess I'd be happy with that.
Thank you for contributing to the hypocracy of new in gaming. Because if they change it, people will say it ruined it.

People do not want new. They want it to seem new, without changing a thing. And I quote "I want something different...but sorta the same, but nothing too similar..."

Make Twilight Princess like it was made out to be in the trailers. New Zelda looks like turd on stick, reason being cell shading with adult link - the cell shading in Wind Waker was to get across Link's childishness. An adult with a cartoony style is a retarded idea.

I'm one of the people mentioned in the first post so I may as well respond...

One idea, refocus the game on the action sort of like what was done in Zelda 2. Forget about samey overworlds and samey dungeons and change the way the game plays.. in fact, maybe even toss the overworld altogether. This could be especially potent with the new (but still needing improvement) motion controls. I'm not saying make it Link May Cry but would it really hurt to focus more on swordplay than using the same items to do the same things in the same places that we've been doing for 20 years.

Another idea, open everything up. Create an open world type experience where exploration and ingenuity are rewarded. Integrate the dungeons into the world design itself and stop making the item usage so linear. The same ol' items could still be included but it shouldn't just be round peg in round hole usage. Have puzzles that really change the whole world instead of just 2 rooms away from where you are.

Another idea, get rid of Link altogether. Make Zelda/Shiek the star of the game with her own story and gameplay mechanics. No more Link and no more master sword and shield. No more tired boomerang/bow/etc. Maybe it wouldn't even play anything like a Zelda game if you start with different building blocks.

Or how about having Link and Zelda working together in a co-op experience for the duration of the game with drop in/out multiplayer play? You could even keep some of the tired gameplay intact but give it an entirely new spin by catering it for two heroes instead of one.

I think that Majora's Mask was an excellent twist on the Zelda series. Many of the NPC's having good stories and personalities, some unique puzzle solving with the different masks, and also the doomed voyage feel. It was interesting to rewind time in a desperate effort to prevent the apocalypse. This kind of originality and strong story would be a nice occasional variant from the normal Zelda form.

Windwaker had a cool flair in how the world felt very large and open, sailing the seas and what not.

It's a good formula and a good series, but it does indeed repeat itself. I think they should add in some plot besides 'princess is kidnapped' They have a chance to make great plots, good settings, and it resets itself with ever iteration so they could do it quite easily, they just don't.
