If you beat the game and saw the final cutscene, then you know shit will hit the fan in the third game. One reaper is bad enough, but an army floating towards the milky way is pretty scary. The first game had the entire citadel fleet fighting this monster, then we had a half built reaper which was slightly easier. But a whole army of them is going to require a lot more then Terminus Armor.

My guess will be hijacked Reapers, Using the Rachni you saved(You did save them right? RIGHT!), the Krogan genophage cure will help our army, the collectors base technology, and Legion will help us with a Geth army. Now we can kill about 7 of them; still not enough. Escapists, I think the Reapers will win this battle.

..due you remember the dirlect reaper? Destroyed by a superweapon from modding a mass relay. This will probably help ALOT.

While It would be amazin to finally get to control a space battle, either by directly controlling the normandy, or by giving orders to the various ships in your fleet to advance / fall back / fire there etc, my real hope is that bioware combines its two best selling scifi series, and the illusive man turns out to be Darth Revan, pulling the starforge out of his sleeve!

is it just me or im i the only one saddened by the fact that the next game means the end of the series?
Not end of series. Bioware confirmed, but the way I see it is that playing all 3 games with a character is 60 hours. that's a lot for 1 profile.

EDIT: I should also mention how the Reapers themselves "ordered" galactic evolution through the construction of the Mass Relays and the Citadel. So, basically, they're more prepared than ever against any weapon built since the technology to build that weapon is based on their own technology. The only way to defeat the Reapers is to use non-Reaper technology and that is frankly impossible, giving that all galactic technology is based on Reaper tech.
They didn't invent spears...

Shepard realizes that the only way to defeat the Reapers is to rid them of their source of food/slaves (or whatever they use harvested organic life for), so he kills off everyone in the galaxy. Sorta like how the Halos were suppose kill off all sentient life to starve the Flood to death.

But seriously though, I expect most of Mass Effect 3 will revolve around learning about the Reapers and why they do what they do, then blowing them all up. Correct me if I'm wrong, but both Sovereign (and the derelict Reaper) were killed pretty much just by shooting them, so this doesn't seem too far out of the realm of possibility.

I'm pretty sure Bioware's not going to make ME3's plot the generic "LET'S FIND THE SUPERWEAPON AND OWN EVERYTHING!"

I think what we will find out in ME3 why the Reapers do what they do. Surely no one believes that the Reapers are just wiping out galactic civilizations "for the lulz". The reason will probably be the salvation of the current civilizations encompassing the Milky Way.
Actually, I kinda thought ME2 touched on their true motivations... (massive spoiler warning)
when it was revealed that the collecters were melting the colonists down to make a human reaper. Now, this is either, as EDI suggested, their means of reproduction... or it is their strange way of "preserving" a sentient race... and was it just me... or did the human reaper change gender based on what gender Shepard was? Made me think that they intended to base the human reaper's AI off of a slightly altered version of Shepard's personality...

I'm personally hoping they go into a bit of character development for the reapers in ME3 before we fight them. One thing that I criticize about the second game is that there was no character development for either Harbinger or the Collector General, they were just evil for the sake of being evil. So yeah, and I'm hoping that the whole thing ends with a big final showdown with Harbinger.
Firstly, Harbinger is the same as Sovereign, who said something along the lines of "Your feeble peasant mind can't hope to comprehend our motivations"; We'll have to wait to learn more about the reapers. And the Collectors were characterized (as in, they didn't need much): They're what's left of the Protheans, corrupted, mutated and controlled by the Reapers.

I love where they went with the Geth though! As the True Geth versus the Heretics instead of being one-dimensionally evil (despite them being truly sentient and 'free-thinking').
I got the impression that Harbinger was a reaper who was controlling the Collector General. Harbinger then used the Collector General to control his ground troops much in the same way that Sovereign was controlling Saren post-death.

As for the Geth... Well... Seen Battlestar Galactica? The Geth are pretty much Cylons. The whole Quarian backstory is extremely reminiscent of BSG come to think of it... Migrant Fleet et all. Something wicked this way comes I think...

I'm hoping it has everything to do with the space hamster. I didn't spend all those space credits on a frickin hamster for nothing!. That aside lets be honest here. shepard keeps beating up on everything that comes in his way. Each one more impossible to overcome than the next. he's a one man wrecking crew that demands respect based on action! on top of that, with all the geth that have motives aligned with ours for now we have a cheap and renewable army with a collective consciousness. the only thing shepard has to worry about is maybe the council not listening to the threat. that might require some diplomacy. It wouldn't be mass effect without tough choices, though there seemed to be a lack of them in this latest one(except for punching the reporter in the face, that was the hardest choice I found while going the paragon route) which means most likely we'll have to send some people to die for the sake of the galaxy. the only thing I didn't like was that to really get renegade points you have to side with cerberus all the time. you should be able to be mean AND not like those freaky deaky jerks. I wonder how that character will turn out in ME3, that cerberus loving dog...

Well we sure know the council won't listen, seeing as they wrote off Sheps warnings AGAIN (I did sit there asking myself why was I sooo surprised by that?)

I'm goin with Super Weapon, I saved the collector base, The Illusive man does have his terrorist tendencies, but I figure he'll be piloting the super weapon to which I installed a self destruct button in just in case he views any other race as harmful to the Galaxy. That or I have a gun AND I took down the reapers, One man aint got SHIT on me.

I'm going to take a wild guess and say that he or she will win by shooting them. But, you know, just a shot in the dark.

I bet Bioware goes against the "happy" ending and actually has the Reapers wipe everybody out like they always do. Or all humans die to save the rest of the galaxy. Some real heavy consequences like that better happen. They can't just make it so you build a team or even an army to take out all of those Reapers.

Well, this being a Bioware franchise, it's safe to say that things will somehow end happily (unless they're willing to go the emo extra mile to re-invent their image). Given their new focus on depressing dark storylines, it is entirely a possibility that the reapers will come out on top. My best guess is that Shepard will have to take the TFU route and sacrifice himself, possibly at the core of an 'Alpha Reaper' or somesuch.

But assuming that doesn't happen, I have a vague idea of how things will go:

1. Take Mass Relay
2. Aim Mass Relay at other Mass Relay (ideally playing host to 1 or more reapers)
3. Load Mass Relay up with massive warhead stocked with explosives, unstable atoms, and Eezo
4. And that's why they call it Mass Effect.
