How would the world look today if Adolf Hitler was never a nazi and didn't start WWII?
This a question I recently asked my self and now I would like to know what you think.

Someone else would get super power hungry and a World War would start in a different place.

If he actually got into art school and became a famous painter, it'd be a very different world. "Among my collection of early Matisses and Renoirs, I have a magnificent piece by Hitler."

See, it just sounds so strange.

Just supposition really. If we never had WW2, our technology may still be stuck in the 60s/70s. There's really no way to tell.

Then it probably would have happened anyway. The holocaust might not have happened and there'd be a lot more Jews in the world, but with tensions in Europe the war may well have, the Germans were not a content people.

America would still hold the idea of isolation and wouldnt be the world power.

Japan would have its Imperial formula still kicking around.

Italy would still be facist.

Germany would probably be the new China (the up and comer thats going to dethrown American [i.e. Britain]).

China and most of hte countries in that area would most likely still be poor.

And Russia would be Russia. We probably wouldnt have had communism, or at least it wouldnt be so wide spread.

EDIT:
And of course the Native People genocides would probably be the worst and most famous "Holocaust" (which was just a genocide) though which one would probably depend where you live.

I actually think a good case can be made that without hitler, our inevitable confrontation with the USSR would have come earlier than the cold war, and been a hot war instead. This may mean more or fewer deaths in this alternate Allies vs. Commies WWII. It all depends if the developement of nukes was effected, tho no nazism = no Einstein hot-footing it to the USA, so possibly no Manhatten project. Interesting topic to think about tbh.

Someone else might very well have started WW2. People were pretty pissed off, the "Daggerstrike" theory, that Germany was betrayed from the inside during WW1, was circulating pretty good.
No jobs, devaluation of the currency..It was a powderkeg.

The holocaust probably would have happened too I think. Germany had a lot of strong anti-semitic feelings anyway, and they got blamed for a lot of shit, even before the Nazis took power (I think. This is going off GCSE History, and only what I can remember of it).

But yeah, I doubt things would be much different.

The Alternate History genre of fiction would have to find some other time period to set 98% of its stuff in.

Now good sir, tis a shame to put Hitler, Matisse and Renoir in the same collection.
Hitler´s use of perspective was simply a crime against mankind.

Hitler didn't start World War II alone. The Nazis would have still had a significant impact and even preventing the holocaust probably wouldn't have prevented WWII.
This much is true. Pre-WW2 Europe was basically a powder keg, Hitler was just the spark which set everything in motion.

lets see, thered be noone in space or too many nuclear weapons from the cold war, thered be no public internet as no cold war, there would be no non irish terrorists for Britain as israel wouldnt have been taken over, there would be more jews, germany would be in poverty ad russia would be even more powerful and communism would have spread throughout Europe oh and i wouldnt exist as my grandparents wouldnt have been forced to immigrate to England during the war

I can only guess that would be more films and comics toward WW1 and there would be ALOT more people in the population today (since the people who were killed from the wars and the aftermath would have been alive.)

We would still have had communism. That was around way before WWII. In fact Russia may have been much more confident, started a war where technologically superior America would have gotten involved and beaten the living daylights out of Russia. Thus preventing the Cold War.

EDIT: What this guy says.

Wow, it just hit me that that sounds remarkably like 1984...

EDIT 2: That said. If Russia had managed to isolate Europe from the America's and conquer it without outside involvement(The USA for example), they could have easily taken on the eagle.
