How young is to young to date someone?

As many have pointed out halfing your age and adding 7 is a good indication when in doubt.

That being said if you truely like each other and get along as well as you claim it is likely you will persue this relationship regardless of advice (teenage hormones and love can be a ***** like that ^^)

However i'd stongly urge you to tread carefully, no disrespect to her but being so young she may not fully understand the workings of a adult relationship and as such a break up could potentially be incredibly distressing for her.
On the cynical side of things you don't need to look far see horror stories about young girls twisting the truth in order to get out of awkward situations when confronted about such contraversial relationships by parents etc.

I put to a two year limit on who I date. Both younger and older. So I would only date girls between 16 and 20.

Also you are over 18 and she is still a minor. It is very illegal to have sex with her or date her for that matter. If you did it would classify you as a pedophile in the eyes of the law.

Pedophilia is attraction to pre-pubescent children... not fourteen year-olds...

Here is my problem. Im 5 4 age 19 and I meet this beautiful girl about my hight. She is really into me and we talk alot. Problem is I just found out shes only 14!

Look man the rule is divide by 2, then add 7 to your age. The older you get the younger you date. Hope this helps.

Half your age, plus seven is a general guideline to go by. Although, that isn't for everyone.

I agree with this and generally quote it. Except the girls I date will occasionally invalidate this (as in I'm the young one).

the real key, as a teenager, is that if you are a male over the age of consent, you should never, ever date a girl below age of consent. as the saying goes, 15 will get you 20.

Yeah, judging someone's age is a tricky business.
I have a 15 year old friend, and at some point we were having a social discussion with a police officer. (and at that time she was 14, not 15).
Even the police officer would have thought my friend was at least 19...

Ultimately, there's no way to tell.
Ask a scientist how to determine a person's age if you don't know their date of birth...
The answer, as it turns out is that it's very difficult to do.

You can tell a child from a teenager by virtue of the effects of puberty, and you can tell someone is at least 18 if they have all 4 of their wisdom teeth. (but, since a lot of people get them removed, having less than 4 wisdom teeth isn't proof of anything. Also, someone can be quite a bit older than 18 and still not have all 4 wisdom teeth yet.)

It gets worse. As it turns out, there is no reliable way whatsoever to know a person's age more reliably than about 16-30.

After the age of 30 there's a few extra things you can test for, and most under 16's have physical differences to those over 16, but in the age range of 16-30 there's really nothing reliable to go on.

(speaking of which, aside from the aforementioned 15 year old, I also know a guy who I would swear couldn't possibly be over 17, yet was in fact 28. - It goes both ways.)

If you ever got amnesia, and nobody knew who you were, it'd be almost impossible to say how old you really were with any reliability.

Half your own age plus seven is a good rule of thumb. I had a brief involvement with a fourteen year old when I was sixteen [it remained non-sexual, by the way], and even that made me feel a bit despicable. There's something intensely not cool about dating someone younger than your little sister.
