I had Legos. Cases and cases of them. I always think back and find it funny that I never really built much out of them, instead, I just equipped the figures with weapons and had all out wars. I used my entire room in some instances.
That's pretty much what I did. I didn't build that much with my Legos after I built the original kit. I did turn the Slave I kit into another pretty bitchin' spaceship though.

I was always more interested in the minifigs. Loved making wars or zombie invasions. Ah the memories...

I had a completely different idea of what this thread would be about... I thought it would be about actual buildings.

I remember when I was young I thought Legos were the knockoffs because I had way more pieces (both in quantity and diversity) of Blocs. But I never managed to build anything cool. I remember building a gazebo for my toy town, but instead of working for twenty minutes to build a floor I precariously balanced a notebook on flimsy foundations.

Entire, sprawling cities of Tinkertoys, Jenga, and Hot Wheels tracks. The best one I ever made was a Rube-Goldberg type thing that started with a car hitting a Jenga piece and ending with a collapsing Tinkertoy skyscraper. It took days to make and was completely worth it. Ah, good times.

I don't have my legos any more unfortunately, but I have these little pink things called 'Magno-Z' they're people-shaped dealies with anime-style faces and magnets for hands and feet, in stead of sticking them to things or whatever I try and see what kind of patterns I can make out of them when stuck together.

Sometimes structures are a result of this.

Was I the only poor kid who had only a single box of legos, not an endless supply of bricks ? Maybe that's why I'm obsessed with efficiency in programming nowadays :D

Hulking out... can't stop it...

It's not "Legos", it's "Lego". You have one piece of Lego, you have lots of pieces of Lego. You wouldn't say "there are lots of deers here", you'd say "there are lots of deer".

Sorry, it really just irritates me >.<

Whether it's with Legos, Playmobil, Mega Blox, K'nex, or whatever you use, building toys are fun.
Sometimes you'll just build a little spaceship, but sometimes you'll craft an entire city.

Share your memories with your favorite building toys, and the massive erections you built with them.

For me, it'd be the awesome restaurant/ hotel/ resistance base/ police station/ whatever else it was that I built in about the third grade. It had a cool elevated road system next to it, and I used that to reenact the opening level of Sonic Adventure 2 with minifigs.

With Playmobil, my sister and I made massive castles, with dungeons and towers and such.
We'd have huge wars between multiple factions, but I was too young to understand the deep racial tension that was going on.

Hmmmmmm. Okay I just gotta kn-......oh.

Nice one, completely caught me looking! I hereby dub thee mastre' of the quadruple entendre with a metaphoric half-twist(ed)! Anyone who does anything nearly as cool as you describe in your third paragraph really should be working in the space program or helping lead a nation, possibly both.

My own building phase when I was a kid was all done with various parts of hot wheels tracks and contraptions. The goal was not so much height as seeing how many rooms the Racetrack That Should Not Be (according to my mom) could be strung through and how long it could be built until my mother (bless her heart) decided to reintroduce us to sanity in spite of our commitment to shoot a trans am from our door to Mr. Strattons mailbox.

Now I want to make something again, but I stopped after what happened one time while I was playing with Legos.
I suppose it's a sad story? I'm curious, but I understand if it's personal.

Anyway, I used to build stuff all the time, but I always paid close attention to the manual. I always got frustrated, though, when I would see other Lego designs on the back of the box that wouldn't have instructions in the manual. I'm still that way when I build or set up other things, like my iPod or a desk or my bed.

My motto: "The guy who said 'Location, location, location' probably didn't have a manual."
Actually it's not really sad. It was a couple years ago and it was early in the morning. I was playing with Legos on the floor and was on my back when a 5.3 earthquake hit. Legos got under me and it hurt my back. So the moral of this story is: don't play on the floor with Legos when you live in an area pron to frequent earthquakes.

I remember when I was young, my older brother and I would play Lego all the time. Hours of non-stop crafting.

Our best creations were a bunch of excellent* castles, I once made a gigantic (about 2 foot long) space ship that held smaller ships and my brother once made a pair of FA-18s, one grey and one black. I copied his design with random blocks so I got an FA-18 that looked like it had been thrown up on my a toybox.
the 'FA' on FA-18 stood for "Fabulous" :D

I'm flattered, to say the least.

While my description of my Lego building was a little exaggerated, I gotta say that it was pretty cool when I was 9.

I LOVE Legos. Especially the Bionicle Stuff.

My crowning achievement? I made seven animals that can combine into a two-foot tall monster.

Best thing I ever made.

Amazingly, it's still assembled.

Building that was what convinced me that I wanted to be an Engineer.

@smearyllama: Best Tread Name Ever. I couldn't stop laughing. *wipes laughter tears out of eyes*

OT: Once, in the eighties (ca 1986), my friends and I collected combined our Lego (about 250kg worth), to build spires in my room (at least I think it was my room, memory fails), was my mom ever pissed of when she came home, finding all those erections in my room.
And all the bickering that followed, at who's Leogs was who's, in the end I think we divided all the generic pieces equally, (some win, some loss), special Legos were remembered.
Aaaa, those were the gayest days of my life, playing with my boyfriends. :p

Love the title.

I played with Legos all the time when I was little. Mostly Star Wars ones, those were the best. I even got all the Star Wars Lego games. Just for the laughs. I wish I had kept those. No telling where they've gotten off to now.

On my view of what this thread was originally about... I had a girl friend in 9th grade... man did we "construct" a lot. In terms of building things... My ego got quite huge!

On topic of what this thread is REALLY about, my cousins and I played with Legos non-stop. We'd build vehicles, cities, hideouts, outposts, etc. Massive areas where our imaginations would just run wild.

With the creation of minecraft, we've began re-building these worlds, so we can actually walk around them, and almost relive those childhood memories. I'm 22 now, and still, I find Legos and any form of building material just untapped potential. I can't wait to have my own kids just so I can see the flood of imagination that comes from them.

Yeah with all the moving parts you could get your robot could do a bunch of fun things when you fought. I miss lego sometimes when I think back on old times.
