It's less funny,. but I've always wondered why in the text-chat system of many EA games, the word Jew is filtered, but others like Muslim or Christian aren't filtered. I just don't understand, if you don't want people to be talking about religion in your games, filter all the words, not just one...
How many times have you heard someone call someone a Christian or a Muslim as an insult? Now compare that to the number of times you've heard someone referred to as a Jew in an insulting manner.

On a chatroom I use, we can swear etc, but the word "freak" is censored.

I actually know why, but whenever someone brings it up and asks I always say it's because a certain moderator everyone hates, doesn't like being called it.

Hahahah, oh wow. As if it wasn't obvious enough already.

My favorite was when Playstation Home was brand new. If you would walk up to someone and say Hello, the only thing they'd see was ****o. To make things worse, it was one of the quick-use phrases that you wouldn't have to type out, so everyone was using it.

I think the worst part is that you can't see that what you've written just got censored... you have to rely on another person to say "lolwut" before you can even try to get around it.

Someone in my school is called Harshit. When he sent an e-mail containing work to one of our teachers, it got blocked for "profanity".

Aye, I figured that as well. Perhaps "Jewish" would be more acceptable. Although it probably wouldn't take that either cause it has Jew in the word. I remember they had to change the name of Jewfish to Goliath Grouper due to fear of racism.

Call of Duty 4, every server in existence: gay, homosexual, lesbian, penis, vagina, testicle, etc are all prohibited in just about 150% of servers, and frankly, it's retarded (oh, thats another one) because these are technical words, some even scientific and in the fucking dictionary. Why is saying them considered a bannable offense?

I swear, the admins and rules in a typical Call of Duty 4 server are plain retarded.
I'm not convinced on this until someone can come up with a damn good reason why you'd need to be discussing your lesbian testicle in a CoD server chat...

Would it allow, say, "dyke bollock"?
Hahaha, that's exactly what I wanna talk about with my fellow man online, though! It's a good ice breaker. But I'll try dyke bollock sometime, thanks for the tip ;P

On Gamefaqs, comparing anyone to Hitler (or the Nazis) is strictly against the rules, so I got moderated once for discussing the opening to Command and Conquer: Red Alert.

Apparently, by mentioning that Albert Einstein assassinated Hitler, I was in fact comparing Adolf Hitler to Hitler and suggesting that Adolf Hitler was Nazi, which was against the rules.

I can understand their desire to prevent Godwin arguments, but I don't think that should to the real Hitler and Nazis.

Also for quite a while, it was hard to discuss the Samurai Warriors/Warriors Orochi (and real life historical figure) Yoshitsune, because his name contained the word shit. You had to write Yosh*tsune, which looked ridiculous and drew more attention to the mild swear word in his name.

The language filter on Forza 4 is throwing up some clangers. Apparently F430 and Honda are naughty words. I can understand the reasoning behind blocking the tyre manufacture Kumho, but what's wrong with Honda and F430?

Language filter are hilarious though, especially when you see a censored word and can't figure out what the word is supposed to be.
I saw the word '****geneous' and it took me ages to work out it was homogeneous and the word homo had been censored. Also, on the same forum I saw the word "oeso****us" and it stumped me for quite a while. It was oesophagus and 'phag' had been censored.

In the Ustream chat for Lartist @ Work, if you type "Four ponies!" you will immediately be kicked. At least, that's been my experience.

The swedish word for getting something is "få".

I was given/I got = Jag fick.

Fick is also a german word for when a mommy loves a daddy very much the daddy might give her a box of chocolates and then love her even more and then also sometimes he has already given her flowers and then at one point when the mommy loves the daddy very very much they (GRAPHICAL CONTENT) hold hands.

What? All I learned about sex I learned from this educational video.

This means that, in some online games and some forums, someone writing "I got a shield!" in swedish basically comes out as "I ****** a shield!".

Imagine if they got a dog.
