To be honest, anyone here who is calling you hypocritical are just putting themselves on pillars. you have every right to be uncomfortable with the idea and to choose not to do it. hell, I'm not doing it, mainly because I don't want to end up in the -admittedly very very unlikely- situation where I'm on life support or something and they scrap any chance I have of surviving to save my valuable, delicious organs.

I'm not saying this is what happens, but I don't trust anyone.

Also I would very much prefer my organs to go to save little sally cancer as opposed to big business diabetic and hospital wing donator. people forget that when you donate organs you donate them to ANYONE, not just the media sensationalist small teen who gets straight A's or the loveable children with their whole lives ahead of them, assholes gets saved too.

that's more then enough reason to keep my organs to myself should things go south, and hey! If I get saved by a donor's organ, Ill donate mine the day I get out of hospital. Until then, the choice is entirely yours to make and nobody should ridicule you for it.

also animals taste fantastic.

It occurs to me the donor problem would be easily fixed if they only gave organs to people with donor cards. Hmm.
It would be fixed even easier if they stopped making it the law to wear seatbelts ;)

*shrug* not evil, but kinda hypocritical.

I'm of the belief that once I'm dead, I won't be needing those organs. Might as well go to someone who needs 'em. Same as giving blood. Not a problem to me but it could save someone's life. Why not?

Im not an organ donor... but than again, I had leukemia a couple years back, and they told me that I wouldnt be accepted as an organ donor.

So leukemia got me out of being an organ donor and being called non-stop by military recruiters... sweet.

Anyways, I dont think if you get someone else's heart they are going to care if you're a dono or not.

*Edit*

No, although you might have an unfounded fear. If you're dead then what do you care about your organs? Its not as if there going to come into your house and steal a kidney, dude.

Evil no, maybe a little selfish?

When i die im pretty much giving all my bits and pieces away to those that may need them. I wont be using them anymore so no use in burying then 6 feet underground or turning them into ash for posterity.....anyone want one of my kidney's? I'll do you a good price! :D

If you are not a donor then you are not allowed to receive donor organs. Seems fair to me. Why can't that not be a law? Maybe they should make everyone a donor by law, but you have to opt out. If you decide you do not want to donate, then you are screwed if you need a transplant. :)

What about people who can't donate organs due to their frail state or failing? Should we deny them an organ?

Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeah NO. There's a reason BS like this isn't implemented. Honestly let people decide how to distribute THEIR body parts.
They would be on donor list but would be unable to donate. Way i see it is if you are unwilling to donate your organs, why should you be allowed to have someone else's?
Because out of the Dying persons Will maybe!!! I mean their choice....No one elses

Trust me just because a few people aren't donors doesn't make them awful people. Shit, if anything everybody's been guilty of Hypocracy every now and then. Am I saying it's ok? NO
But it's no one's choice to make other than the doner and receiver.

Hell, honestly if no one I love or care for is dire need of an Organ then my ass is being buried completely intact. Selfish? NO. I'm at least entitled to my body

I am not an organ donor. The only reason being that I feel comfortable with it.

Though if I'd be in danger I would really appreciate getting someone's donor organ..

Am I evil?

Please be objective, I'm just wondering
I would say you are a rather normal person. That's just my opinion because I agree with you. You're not evil.

*Sobs* So beautiful!! You have a great point. Honestly people need to get over themselves and quite trying to pull some Guilt Trip Bullshit, because a person wants all their body parts.
Fuck all! At least let me keep what I know is Damn well mine.

One more vote for the "not evil, but selfish"-group. I see no reason to not be a donor. After I die what's left of me will be put in a box and set on fire, they might as well take the parts they can use before that.

Here's an option if in the event you ever need an organ donor transplant you can choose to reconsider your opinion of being an organ donor yourself. (Unless there's a cluase saying you can't after getting a transplant.)

Edit: Or just decide to do it at a later time in your life.

I'm not an organ donor because the DMV lady never asked me to sign up, and I didn't care enough to ask her directly.

Am I evil? I mean, what do I care what happens to my organs after I die, whether they go in the ground or to someone who needs them?

Ask yourself, why not become a donor? If you can come up with a non self-centred reason not to, then thats fine, if not do it now, help a fellow human.

I am also not an organ donor. If they somehow manage to resurrect people after death, how will I survive without my liver or kidneys? If someone wants an organ so bad, perhaps they should go steal one from some poor Colombian kid or something.

See, you're not evil. I AM.

I'll donate my organs when I'm dead that is my wish but I don't want to be a certifide doner because a doctor will not try as hard to save my life, they'd believe that the are but it takes pressure off them knowing that should I die then atleast my organs can be used to save orphans in the childrens ward...what I mean is that when I eventually die I want doctors to pick through my insides and try to salvage anything that's in good condition.

No, your not evil, your not even hypocritical. as House would say, you just care about yourself more than you care about others, which is not that unreasonable of a position actually. Damn, now i want to go watch house and i have to go to class instead.

Well, I really couldn't care less, with the cold, loving embrace of oblivion making it kinda difficult for me to care. Because I'd be dead.

I'm an avid believer in "You get what you give"

If I need help, I wouldn't expect an organ to be given to me, as I have not signed an organ donor card, but if they wish and do give me an organ then I'd be fine with it, I just don't really expect it.

I suppose if ever someone's organ does save me I'll sign the card
What do you care if someones taking your organs, you'll be dead?
I don't know to be honest, I've asked myself that a few times, and each time I come up thinking it would feel like a certain desecration of my body. I'd like to leave the world the same way I entered it, and to be hoenst, I'd prefer to die of an organ failure than to have someone's organs used to keep me alive.
"A desecration of your body"? Have you seen what happens after you die? Natural decomposers break down every part of your corpse. It becomes bloated and disgusting, as every single body system and organ gets slowly consumed and degraded. Believe me, if you've really looked at a decaying corpse, you'd realize that giving an organ is far less of a desecration than normal decomposition.
